A set of sparkling eyes stared out at the nothing that was a small lake. It was of course large, but to the eyes of a poet it was small. She saw the world differently than most. She sighed and rested her head on her paws. For this was none other than Chupaflor, her name clashing perfectly with her odd personality.
It was saddening to see such a lonely wolf, but also a little funny to look at the blue-pelted femme and laugh. That was why she didn't like to be with many other wolves. She had a tendency to make them scared of her, or they would laugh at her. She, somehow, alwyas appeared cold and rude to them, but she did not know why.
Her whole body did a flip and she rested her paws tight against her chest as she looked up at the sky. Stars galore. It was interesting to look up and realize how small you really were. Maybe if she wasn't so lonely she wouldn't have to occupy herself with idiotic ramblings, but again, it was just her.

She was only alone for a while, but even as the presence of another wolf came into view, it still seemed the female was distanced. The cloaked creature tread lightly, making his step soundless while his head was hung low, sniffing toward the source of water. It was only a matter of seconds that he broke from the tree line and felt the mire and grainy roughness of the soft shore. Lapping at the surface, droplets of water fell from his maw.
The male hadn't noticed the female immediately, otherwise he would have avoided the area completely. But as soon as his sensitive nose picked up her lovely scent, a sort of shock zipped through his body, rattling at his tail. How long had it been since he had come face to face with someone of the opposite sex? Since he was a pup several years ago? His memories of females were not bad, in fact, the only time he recalled a gentle voice was when he was with his mother...but not all females were the same and he had come to believe that perhaps the reason the pack avoided the sex was because there was some treachery they held within he just hadn't seen before.
It was policy for the pack to avoid verbal contact with those outside the members. They were to represent the very shadows that haunted every being, but were unattainable. And now he had royally blundered by allowing himself to be caught by a strange female. Ducking his tail between his legs, the cloaked canine lowered his head and started to slink back toward the wood, hoping to escape the company of Chupaflor.

Blue ears flicked backwards as they heard a very silent noise. When you were alone, you had to be able to hear a pin drop. It sounded like a cloak very vaguely waving over the form of a body. Hm? What an odd sound... But then again, this was Chupaflor. She was always eager to meet new wolves.
Turning her head and jumping to her paws to say a hello, she stopped for a moment. He was angled away from her, sneaking back into the shadows of the tree line. He had his tail between his legs, too. Was he scared? Of her? Maybe she was too odd for her own good...
"Weary male in the cloak, why are you acting so afraid?"
Her eyes clouded over with sadness, for it was rare to see another wolf for her. This male seemed unique. he wore a cloak with an emblem on it, probably from a pack. It looked a tad evil, but she didn't notice. She bowed her head and lowered her own tail to show submission towards the newcomer. She didn't like others being afraid of her.
"I am Chupaflor! Who may you be, Cloak?"

The male could hear the girl swiftly find herself on her paws, after him within seconds. His pace quickened, but did not break into a run, not feeling it was necessary nor did he want to reveal that he was running away at all. Of course, it already seemed she understood what was going on, but perhaps not for the right reason.
He heard her voice, the sorrow within it before it masked away as she continued, passing her name. It paused him in his path, forcing the cloaked creature to reluctantly to look back. Naturally his head lowered, his eyes following, while his tail tucked further between his legs. How was he to answer her? Was he even allowed? Elapse was hardly capable to talking with his own pack members so now confronted with a female stranger he felt anxious and wanted to escape as soon as possible.
"I am not afraid," he muttered, though that wasn't exactly completely tree. Pulling his ears back, he watched her quietly. "I am...titled Elapse..."

A set of eyes darted over the cloaked male. He looked all too submissive. But of course, his name was gorgeous. Though she didn't know the meaning, it fit the male well. "Elapse is quite a good name. Are you from a pack? Your cloak is gorgeous! Or... To me it is unique."
She admired his pelt, dark gray, black, even. He had curious white markings on his legs and it made her eyes stare, but Chupaflor had to stop. "If I may ask something of you... You, Elapse, should not stand with your tail-tucked. Be regal, to the eye you pass as a warrior. What might you be doing out here?"
Smiling, she placed a paw forward, but stood where she was.

His eyes blinked a few times, not rudely so, but more so out of curiosity and anxiety. She was an interesting creature, intuitive and seemingly gentle, but the male who not only had no contact with other wolves outside his pack, let alone females, was still highly on his guard. Elapse wanted to start on his way back. What if they discovered his disappearance? 'Naw, they don't notice me anyway. If I'm gone for a little while longer I doubt that anyone will catch on,' he murmured solemnly inwardly.
"I-I do belong to a pack, yes, but I can't say anymore," he commented, replying to her question. He almost smiled at the comment about the cloak. For him, the cloak was both a symbol of oppression and pride. Only wolves of his rank were not allowed to carry the cloth over their ears. Why was he different? Did he not do his part in the pack? But this argument was for another time.
It was her next comment that through him for a loop. Lifting his head, he gave her an almost shocked expression before regaining his composure. "Excuse my lack of formalities...or pride rather. My rank doesn't allow relaxed composure. But I am no warrior...more like a mother to the youth of my pack and for them I suppose I could be titled a warrior, but nothing more. As for my reason for being here...well...I honestly don't know. I guess I was trying to prove something."
He glanced away briefly for a second, before returning his eyes to gaze at the rather lovely female with a sweet voice. He wanted the attention to pull away from him. "What about yourself? Why are you here?" This was the most he had spoken in some time to someone about his age.

Chupaflor wagged her tail at his reponse, her eyes lightening up. Her red bandanna swayed in an annoying was, bugging her ears, but she attempted to ignore it. Failed. Letting out an annoyed growl, she lowered her head to allow it to slip off, and a smile immediately returned to her face. She looked up at his face, her eyes gentle. He seemed nice, like the friend growing up that she wished she had. Her body rose again and she turned in a circle, her paws never wanting to stop.
Can't say anymore? Oh well, it was still a good to be in a pack! She wondered which it was, but didn't press. She could sense he was thinking of something else for a bit, as she often did so many times. Her eyes wandered over it once more before she blinked again. It was unique, it made her wonder what the history of it was. "That is interesting," she noted. Sometimes she wished she belonged to a pack...
She squinted her eyes, seeing his shocked expression. He was nice, it didn't bother her how he acted otherwise. To the odd little Chupaflor Elapse seemed like a wolf that lacked not pride, but the sense of being with others that were not within his pack. That wasn't bad though, she was a loner and still never spoke to others! "You are... an omega? It would be nice to be with pups... The youth of your pack, I can guarantee, see you as a warrior! Without a doubt." She stopped, why nothing more? He was kind, intelligent, and obviously a great member to his pack. Shedidn't ask, though. "Proove something? How interesting," she said, fascinsated.
"To be honest, I have not a clue. Tonight just seemed like the perfect night to stay cool by the water and look at the stars... I like the fireflies flying by, because they are the oonly light in a far off paradise," she said softly. In her mind, he perfect thing was being near fireflies and looking at the stars. "But then again, the stars are so small to the average glance. It is nice to look up at them and realize how small we truly are. Every one of us..." Her voice began to trail off as she turned her head back up to the stars. "Plus, I wanted to swim," she said playfully, looking back to him. "You want to come with me or stay on the land. I wouldn't want water to ruin your cloak, or to make you all wet against your happiness." She playfully edged toward the lake again, splashing the water outward with a front paw. She left her bandanna on the ground, figuring she'd pick it up eventually.

Her backwards flattery and gentle words were an enigma to the male. Compliments were a rare gift, and from the maw of a female he was even more surprised. This whole encounter was a fluke, as fare as he was concerned, but not one without benefit. Though he grew more anxious by the second, Elapse didn't regret meeting this female. She talked to him. She listened to him, and she shared things with him, even if it was just for a moment. That was more treasured interaction with a fellow wolf than he had seen in months, but what made it sad was that he saw brotherhood members every day. Elapse wasn't quite sure if the puppies he cared for ever saw him as a warrior, but at least they talked with him. Perhaps that was why he adored the spring so much.
He didn't respond to her previous comments, unsure how to. This wasn't her fault however, but all the same he focused instead on her reason for being here. Elapse couldn't help the smile that breached his maw. Swimming wasn't something he specifically enjoyed, after all the cloak weighed him down, but growing up in the Brotherhood, rain was a fact of nature and being wet was something you dealt with and were expected to ignore. He was in charge of teaching the pups how to swim long distances, and this required him to get in water all the time with his cloak.
The only question now was if he could make it back to the pack without getting caught. Being wet would be perfect evidence of his rendezvous.
"I um..." he muttered, ever indecisive. "I don't think I'll get in the water, but thank you for the offer all the same. It does sound like fun."
There was something about Chupaflor he didn't want to turn down. Maybe it was her kindness? Or maybe it was because he somehow felt connected to the female who also viewed herself as an outcast. Whatever the reason, Elapse was still aware of their differences and understood the taboo he was committing with simply talking with her.
