The flicker of a shadow danced across the temple wall, and Calope shrank. She watched as the shadow loomed forward like an extending claw, threatening to shred her simply with the uncertainty of its origin. A giggle echoed throughout the sandy walls, and soon two young Malu emerged from a corridor, engrossed in conversation. Calope's nostrils flared as she observed them; one bore the scent of the Nature pack, while the other smelled of Revelry. Her icy eyes followed them with a mixture of disgust and curiosity until they disappeared, swallowed once more by the winding contours of the temple. Silence followed, disturbed only by the faint sound of the trickling water running through the ancient temple's foundation. She waited.
Finally satisfied that there were no observers, Calope stepped out of the darkness. Before her stood a proud Rivalry shrine; the earthly representative of the Great Goddess, whose darkness floods the night and fills the soul with dread. A heap of incense spread about its base, filling the air with the rich scent of herbs, and she breathed it in as if the shrine's admiration fed her strength. A smile cracked at her lips, and she bowed.
We will be extraordinary...

Loki's day started out very differently. He woke up, he'd given up trying to gage time this far down beneath the temples, in a place were no wise malu dared venture. He'd seemed to have managed rather nicely himself. Granted, he'd had the fortune of finding a room that the evil spirits left untouched, and wouldn't touch.
He'd found a baby there, and she'd grown since they'd met. He felt an odd affection for her, almost like a daughter and not quite. And his affection was never displayed in the conventional sense, more the sense of him being helpful for her. Getting food and protecting her. She'd never noticed it though, and he liked it that way.
His dull life which had once seemed so exciting, of being out on his own without supervision, had lost it's interest.
Achlys was growing and wouldn't need or want of his company anymore. He himself had grown since then as well. The concept of a bunch of children to corrupt was a pleasing one, and Achlys gave him the feeling he'd be able to achieve just that.
He'd left his dark reclusive home, he supposed it was as good a time as any to return to the pack.
He spent long hours traveling around the temple seeing new shrines popping up new areas.

Calope hung her head, deep in prayer. Her murmurs of promise and redemption and power were inaudible, for the exception of a god whom she was sure was strong enough to hear them, now that its popularity was ascending at last.
Suddenly the silence thinned, and the soft sounds of another being grew nearer and nearer. Calope jerked away from the shrine, her eyes glassy as though recovering from a deep trance. For a moment, her eyes flicked from side to side in indecision. Should she run? Pretend she had never been here, promising traitorous things to an ever-gluttonous goddess? No. Surely there would be no apparent reason for anyone to suspect her... right? Right. Maybe.
The Malu held her ground, and swung her gaze defiantly in the direction of the nearing offender. She was prepared.

Loki thought he sensed something up ahead. He dipped into a room and looked almost pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face. In a room belonging to something dark no doubt.
"Calope." He stated calmly, making his way farther into the room, looking around with half-interest.
"It's been a while. Remember me?" He smiled softly, wondering how the female would react to him. She certainly seemed tense. Afraid her god or goddess would be found out?
