I think his last role was Inspector Gadget too before this happened.
That new Inspector Gadget CG movie.
Walk down that secret corridor in pride, Don!
*salutes*

"Sorry about that, Chief"
It's rare when a character or voice can stand out in Hollywood for doing just one thing. Don was lucky enough to have two careers in acting and voiceover work. His presence in entertainment will be missed.

Thanks for those links, Savanna. Don led a very interesting career in Hollywood. It is a pity that he was unable to move past the role that Mel Brooks and Buck Henry forged for him on Get Smart.
One of the reasons I loved Inspector Gadget was that Gadget was almost perfectly identical to Agent 86. I'm sure a lot of older fans who saw Get Smart saw the paralells. And it was sad that Don didn't escape the curse of that one character.

Sad, sad news.
I loved Get Smart. The shoe phone, the secret corridor and secret phone booth, Agent 99... all of it. I can still clearly remember staying up late and watching the old reruns of it on Nick at Nite back in the day. I also loved his voice actor work as well. I always enjoyed the Inspector Gadget cartoons. There really were a lot of similarities between Inspector Gadget and Agent 86.
But now he has moved on to the cone of silence forever.
This message will self destruct.

An Inspector Gadget revamp immediately formed in my head when I heard of Don Adams passing.
I've thankfully learned not to listen to the voices in my head at this point and such a fanfiction will not be put to paper.
