Shianna One Eye

PostPosted: Sun Aug 17, 2008 5:25 pm

Shianna growled, her tail thrashing as she nudged her way outside into the sun of the Pokemon enclosure. There was space for her to move around granted, but it wasn't her old range, and that irritated her to no end. Fate was cruel she knew, but she was not above eating those that irritated her... Sadly that was not an option here. She could try to fly away over the enclosure fence, but she had a feeling that it wouldn't work. She eyed the towers along the fence.

She was not a stupid Dragon, not a monster like some thought her kind to be. She knew there were men in those towers, and they would drop her if she tried to fly over the fence. Her old master had a similar policy.

She'd eaten him.

Sighing, she found a warm spot on the grass as high as she could find, and spread her wings wide, then laying down, began to bask, eyes half lidded as she thought about the events that brought her here.

Fate truly is cruel...

In the distant corner of the exercise yard, a drowsing Pidgeot was sharply awoken by the arrival of the irate dragon. While she assumed the humans would keep at least a casual eye on her, considering how they acted...Celeste still kept her keen senses trained on her surroundings, even when napping.

She ruffled her feathers slightly, watching the great dragon settle down. They were keeping TWO dragons here? Charcoal had been impressive enough, but with this specimen too? The humans obviously had more power than Celeste had already given them credit for...which was a lot.

She knew better than to approach an irritable dragon in any case, and kept herself mostly quiet while watching the other for any hint of a change in mood.

It did not take long for Shianna to calm down to a more personable level. The sun was beating down on her wings and back, and she was loving every second of it. Granted, it wasn't the best height for the sun to hit her to warm her the way she really liked, but lacking a tall mountain perch, this would have to do.

She opened her eyes and lowered her head to the ground, allowing more surface area for the sun as she got used to her new 'home'.

Well it wasn't too bad.

Calm or no, a dragon was still no creature to be trifled with. One didn't have to be as experienced even as Celeste to know that.

For that reason, among others, she kept a safe distance, though she closed it slightly. No reason not to attempt to be personable...plus, after speaking with Bliss, she was determined to prove herself useful in some way. Even if it was looking for other, more capable Pokemon to join the cause.

She'd just be sure to leave herself adequate room for an escape route if the other wasn't feeling quite so social right now.

Shifting her wings slightly to rest her bandaged limb more comfortably against her back, Celeste blinked in the bright light and offered a simple, soft greeting.

'The sunlight and warmth does wonders for the wings, does it not?'

Shianna chuckled, opening an eye to spy the small pidgeot. Hello little one... Yes, it does wonders, tis heavenly. If but it were my mountain home it would be better, but we make do with what Fate gives us no?

The Dragon chuckled and shifted a bit, her tail motioning the bird to come closer. Fear not, I will not eat you, I fear that if I tried the men here would quickly subdue me. Not that I have the inclination to, they did feed me,

Well, that was reassuring...

Hiding her discomfort, Celeste shuffle/hopped a bit closer, to make conversation easier. And conversation she would make...if only to ease the awkward feelings at being so close to a dragon that had so casually mentioned eating her.

...and called her 'little one.' Since when was a Pidgeot 'little?' Then again, this was a Salamence.

'The mountains? I'm sure it must be beautiful there. So much clear, open air in which to soar about. Almost makes me sad that I've never been out of my dear forest...though I wouldn't give up those memories for anything.'

The avian version of a thoughtful smile crossed her eyes, as he mind had already passed beyond the fences and into her beautiful forest home once more. And it wasn't just the trees that drew her attention...no, deep in her breast, she held out hope that her children were still out there. Safe. Her heart told her so.

Shianna chuckled and bowed her head. Yes, it was rather nice, the Salamance flattened her wings a bit and lowered them, shifting them slightly to catch the sun as it moved. The forest? I have seen many forests in my time, The Dragon chuckled. So they dragged you here too then? It is good to know I am not the only one Fate had decided to upend,

Raising her head she stood slowly and moved over to the Pidgeot looming over it she lowered her head down to look the bird in the face, a sly grin or something akin to it, on her maw.

I am know as One-Eye by many... But you may Call me by my given name... Shianna,

She liked this bird.

Not normally one to be easily startled or shaken, even Celeste shouldn't have let her guard down around a dragon. Her mind was still half in the forest, half processing the great dragon's words when the enormous head blocked her view.

As such, it was with a startled squawk and flapping of wings, as well as a couple of hops backwards, that the poor mother Pidgeot met her new 'friend.' Eyes wide with shock, the feeling soon faded to something else...pain. Having forgotten momentarily about her bandaged wing, the one Celeste had taken such pains to keep still so it might heal, had just been flapping about wildly in her panic. Granted, the limb was healing and she probably hadn't done any permanent damage...but it still hurt.

Hiding her momentary discomfort, hoping it would pass, she gave in to a perhaps worse feeling. Embarrassment. '...M-my pleasure, I'm sure. I am Celeste.' She dipped her head in greeting, eyes on the ground and away from those of the dragon.

It was suddenly quite warm out here in the yard under all those feathers. Sadly, Celeste felt she couldn't blame the sun for the matter.

My apologizes, I did not mean to startle, most of those around my range knew me and knew they were not part of my... diet, The Dragon chuckled and sat again, lowering it's head to even up its height to that of the Pidgeot's. Granted, I would very much like to crack open this building and suck out the yummy human filling, but I'm afraid they won't allow that now would they?

It was obvious by her tone that the second statement was a joke, she was trying to lighten the mood.

So tell me of your home Celeste,

'Most likely, I'd have to say no, they wouldn't,' Celeste tried to respond without letting any of her disgust show. Yes, she knew the dragon was kidding...or at least she hoped...but still the thought was rather repulsive. And graphic. A bit much for the kindly Pidgeot to process.

Hence, she moved on quite eagerly with the subject change.

'My home? I'm not sure my simple home will have much to hold against the majestic mountains, but I can do my best,' she chuckled softly, again with that avian smile that showed only in the eyes. 'At least it doesn't get overly cold here. It's rare anyway. The weather is generally warm and pleasant, unless a storm is blowing through from the ocean. Those can be rough, but tend to pass quickly, which is something to be glad for.'

She cast her eyes out towards the trees again, mind elsewhere as she spoke. ''There's an abundance of life, both in the forest and in the water...or at least there used to be. That was before the humans came. Since then, the forest and ocean have grown quiet. Maybe the others have gone into hiding. I hope so. Cautiousness is ingrained from birth around here now. Others...simply disappeared...' She trailed off, thoughts causing her vision to blur. She couldn't go on, not right now.

Oh Talon...what happened to you, dearest...? She was silent, the single question running through her mind as she stared out at the forest.

Shianna lowered her head to the ground, letting the rest of her body relax and her wings to fold against her frame. Humans tend to make the worst of things I have found. My own trainer was a good example of that, and the ones here, they seem to be of a like mind. She snorted, the hot air gusting from her nostrils in a slightly aggravated huff.

Ah well, we lose what we do because it teaches us something I suppose. Not to trust those with two legs that are not like us... The Dragon laughed low and deep in her throat. She could tell there was something bothering this poor small one, but she was unsure if she should ask.

Are you okay Celeste?
PostPosted: Tue Oct 21, 2008 2:57 pm

'Not exactly,' Celeste admitted honestly, still staring out towards the forest. She was silent for a while longer before speaking again softly. 'I've already lost one very dear to me...my other half...my mate. I fear now that I may have lost more than that. I'm not sure if the worst is not knowing...or if I did.'

Finally, she turned back to the dragon, sadness in her eyes. 'I had...have three little ones,' she explained, correcting her word choice. 'We were attacked by a male Fearow. An intruder to our territory, but I've had more and more problems with keeping the area safe after Talon...disappeared. I did the best I could though. I had my little ones to think of, so...I took him on, even though I figured I had little chance.'

Sighing, she readjusted her wings delicately. 'I managed to drive him off this far...I don't even remember most of the battle. The last thing I remember is that we were both plummeting to the ground. I took the brunt of the damage,' she nodded slightly towards her bandaged, healing wing. 'I think he got away. It's all sort of hazy, but I fear that he left here in much better condition than I was in. I only hope he thought twice about returning...to...' She trailed off again, unable to finish the thought.

Celeste looked back at the dragon, switching thoughts. 'While I have little to say about most of the humans here, there is one at least that might be different. There was a boy...at least, he only seemed like a boy. He tried to help me when I was injured. I'm ashamed to admit that I was in so much pain, worried about my little ones, that I injured him in return...pretty badly.' She looked away sadly. 'I don't know what it was...and I haven't seen him again since, but... There was just something about him...that I just knew meant he wasn't like the others. He was genuinely upset and trying to help me. That was before the others arrived...'

Shianna bowed her head as Celeste spoke. Ah, yes, offspring, something I never had. Nor plan on having any time soon, but I can understand your worry for them. I'm sure they're fine. Slowly the dragon rose, stretching her wings out to their fullest.

As for the 'others' they can rot.

Celeste was quiet for a while following the exchange. Granted, she wasn't trying to defend the humans that held them captive in this place...but...

'I believe...humans are much like Pokemon,' she began thoughtfully. 'They can be either good or bad. I carry little love for the ones that keep us hostage here...but I carry similar feelings, or lack thereof, for the cruel bird who dared come after my nest. Yet, I thought I sensed something different in that one boy. Of course, I could be mistaken...I was basically delirious at the time. But still, I believe...'

She glanced up at the dragon sadly. 'A shame that good humans seem as rare as the Legendary Pokemon themselves.'

Good, bad these things they really do not matter. Shianna snorted a little. One is who one is, and survival comes first before all. It has been the way I have lived for a very long time. What these "humans" are doing is not for survival. There is something wrong with this place what I do not know, but when I do. Her tail snapped and slammed into the ground roughly. Be sure there will be much pain.
