The Family Halo: Halo would be the mother figure. She was the one who was given Val's bloom by Rik. She's not always around because of her newly discovered children Otium and Mael. Of course, she's taller than Wren ( which is a never ending source of amusement ) and has quite the bite ( verbally or otherwise ). She can be abrasive, but can surprise people with how romantic and kind she actually is. She is very attached to her family and can be very possessive at times.  Wren: The would-be father figure. New to parenting (and now having Otium and Mael to deal with), but giving it his all, Wren's not all that special ( or that's what he'd tell you ). He claims to be a writer, of sorts, and frequently can be found muttering and grumbling about stories and various other things he's writing. An eccentric bloke most of the time, he means well and cares deeply for those around him. [ Others ]
( those at the house, but not necessarily family )  Carmine: The resident doctor who just happens to have a few special talents ( such as empathy among other things ). He's pleasant to be around and takes the utmost care of his patients, just watch out for that rapier wit of his that he likes to use on occasion. Halo and Wren use his abilities as a doctor as often as possible to take care of the children.
 Gaitano ( Tom ): All ways smirking, with piercing hazel-green eyes, Tom's usually seen with Carmine ( and vice versa ). He has matters to attend to that no one is ever quite sure of, except for Carmine, and most of the time is left to them. After all, some things are better left unknown.
 Gallium: Halo's Mendel. Gallium's the dark and gothic sort, who has a thing for tattoos and rock. She shares a room with Val and pierced her ears.
(No Image Available) Otium: Halo's newest child. A baby who came out of a book. Valsharess likes him well enough and is usually found sitting in front of his mouth while he sleeps, enjoying the feel of his breathing.
(No image Available) Mael: Wren's baby. He came out of a book as well and is usually found with his brother Otium. He's a sly little thing and cute as a button. Val doesn't have extensive experience with him though.

Aug. 5. 2004 -- DAMN. I was so excited about the new Feien bloom that I left Gallium in Mendel labs all day. -_-;; So yes. I got a feien bloom. I am insanely happy and excited and in awe.. and.. well it's GORGEOUS. Gallium says 'It's alright.. I'm glad it's not ******** orange or something obnoxious like that.' That is Gallium speak for 'I like it well enough too.' We've been trying to make everything as accomodating as possible for a flower bloom. I cleared a spot on my shelf by the window put it in a small glass of water. Flowers need water, I know that much. I'm not sure if I should do experiments on a flower like I did on my Mendel. I mean.. a flower isn't so scientific is it? Gallium thinks I should (she just wants me to torture another being as much as I do her, I think). So I think tonight while I'm sleeping, I'll set up my webcam to capture and I'll put the headphones around the bloom and play some music to see if anything happens. I don't know what a flower DOES actually in response to anything.. move? Open a bit or close a bit? I highly doubt it will dance. In fact I'll be surprised if it does anything.. Ah well, can't hurt. I knew webcams were good for more than self advertisement. ^_~ I guess I'll do that now. Aug 6. 2004 -- Yesterday was my weekly Sushi Day with my best friend. It's not somehting I ever miss and I didn't want to cart the bloom to school with me, and then around in town for fear that something bad would happen. So I left Gallium in charge. ...I actually think she did fairly well, as scary as that sounds. Quote: Gallium watched as Halo stepped out to go to school and eat and do all her stupid human things she did. A sneer crawled over her features at the thought of all that fun down on South Street without her.
The highly reflective mendel turned again to peer at the bloom sitting unassumingly next to her, on a sunsplotched area of the windowsill.
"Listen up, flower thing. I'm supposed to watch you. I don't want any shady business alright? None of your stupid 'waaah I'm a flower.. I am unassuming and innocent.. I need water and sun' bullshit. Ok? I'm a ******** science experiment gone wrong and I am not a baby sitter. So don't act like a baby."
The bloom, as expected, did not respond.
"Good. I'm glad we understand eachother." Gallium stood up and stretched to her 6 inch full height and tossed her curls from her face.
"Now if you're gonna live with us you have to understand a few things. The first thing is that I don't put up with bullshit. And I curse alot. So it better not offend you. Second, is that Halo is a ******** slob, if you can just look around and see... but with your entire lack of eyes, I highly doubt you can. Third is that me and Halo like alot of dark stuff. You are lucky your are red.. it's one of the few colors I let pass. I like red and black .. and hard music and knives and creepy action figures. Got it? If you come out and start being scared and waaah scary action figures.. I will have NO remorse.." Gallium realized she was peering right into the bloom and poking a petal with her finger. Why was she acting like it was about to protest? She huffed and stood up straight again.
"Anyway.. I'm an element. So when its not cool in here cause of the A/C or just cool weather, I melt. That's why its cool in here now. It better not bother you cause it's not somehting I can help." She grumbled something about '******** Puchiko and her ******** insane scientific urges'.

The day went something like that. Gallium carried the bloom around in her arms and gave it a tour of the room from little person size. She told it all the good places to hide, all the cool places to climb and tried to give it a crash course lesson on working the computer. She pointed out all the best books to read and which were 'a lame a** ******** time'.
She even sat with it in front of the computer and played her favorite songs for it. HIM, NIN, Static-X, Marilyn Manson, Muse, Placebo.. And thats where she was when Halo came home later that night. Of course it was late, and Gallium had dosed off against the mouse, the bloom lying on it's side against her lap.
Both of Halo's little charges returned to their resting areas, Gallium to her modified Dr. Marten boot-bed and the Feien to its container on the windowsill.

July 11, 2004. I just got this bloom and already I was dragged into a situation because of it. I was going to the Tavern to maybe meet people and.. well.. *sigh* I now have a visitor to my home for a short time. His name is Dreisan and he's a feien as well. I'm trying to take care of him and my bloom as much as possible. I wonder if the bloom absorbed any of the situation? ------------------------------- Quote: Halo had brought the bloom by the tavern again. The last time had only been for a minute or two before she had to leave. She was hoping this visit might be more fruitful. The tall girl held the bloom in one hand as she stepped in the door, various chains and spikes on her clothing jingling. There were feien here to meet! Huzzah! Quote: "Maybe you should call 911? Have him taken to the hospital? I'm sure human healers would be able to help him."
Sunil crossed her arms over her chest. She really hoped someone else came in soon who could help this guy. If his bond mate died... she was pretty sure he would die as well.
And there was help in the form of some new human with a bloom.
"Ask her!" Quote: Halo seemed to be put on the spot as soon as she stepped in. "Umm hi?" She said dryly. "What am I helping with?" She was.. well confused. Quote: He flew to the human, despite quite obvious lack of energy, and started talking.
"My bondmate has been in bed for three days straight, not eating, not drinking, not even TWITCHING... He's dying, and I don't know what to do!" Quote: LF walked into the tavern, Neruo upon her shoulder. She smiled and began to wave, but everyone's worried looks stopped her. Neruo floated to the counter and LF walked to the bar.
"What's going on...?" she asked, frightened. Quote: Her eyes crossed when the feien flew up to her and Halo blinked and took a step back. "Wait hold on.." She held out her hand so the tired fairy could relax a bit. "Your bond mate is ill and not moving? What about talking.. or conscious?" That sounded like a bad condition to be in. "What brought all this on??" Quote: "I don't know! He just lay down to sleep three days ago, and hasn't moved! He's not talking and his eyes aren't open..." Quote: She hated to ask this, "He does have a heartbeat.. right?" Well duh. Of course. The feien was here... right? "Yeah.. well. Uh.." Halo made a pained face. She didn't drive. She took buses. "How about a hospital. We get him to a hospital. That's what doctors are for..." And he better have damned health insurance. What the hell man, she gets here the first night meeting Feien and she's already in some crazy situation. Halo hoped this wasn't some sort of omen of the future. "You're going to have to tell me how to get to your.. his.. home. SO we can do something. I'll call an ambulance." Quote: Neruo scratched his head, tilting it. "You sure he's not just sleeping? Does he breathe?" The orange Feien didn't see why everyone was so upset. There had to be an explanation... Quote: "I don't know what's wrong with him... but I know how to get back there.... " Quote: Neruo shrugged, fluttering to LF's shoulder. "I'm sure he'll be fine, but I'll look up any medicines that could help. If you need me, I'll be at home, researching."
LF smiled and nodded, and wrote down her address, giving it to Sajhiri. "I'll come back to work here when things aren't so...urgent. We really must go and try to find a medicine, if he needs one. Goodbye."
She sighed, trying to calm her nerves, and walked out the door. Quote: Halo frowned and wrinkled her nose. She looked at LF. "Hi.. umm I know you don't know me, I'm Halo. This is my yet unnamed bloom." She held up the bloom in her other hand. "Do you happen to drive?" She looked after her. "I want to get to the house.. get him to a hospital!" Halo sighed and LF disappeared out the door and looked back at the feien in her hand. "Well walk, eh?" Quote: He nods up at the person who holds him, and points out the door.
"That way." Quote: Halo smiled a bit, relieved that walking was an option. "I'm Halo.. by the way.." She pushed the door open. "This is my bloom.. It doesn't have a name." Quote: "It's a pretty bloom.... "
He looks nervously around, and points out another street.
"There." Quote: "It is.. Thank you.." She looked at her bloom absently before snapping out of it to the matter at hand. Halo turned down the corner, trying as best as she could not to look odd with a fairy and a flower in her hands. Quote: "It's down this street a little ways, and to the right." Quote: "Ok.. just point out the house.." Halo walked faster, without running. She had long legs, so it was fast going. Quote: He pointed out a brownish house with a large front yard.
"That one." Quote: Halo rushed to the door. "Unlocked?" She tried the knob. Quote: She pushed the door open. "Where is he? And where is the phone?" The stairs seemed logical if looking for a bedroom. Quote: "He's upstairs... and... the phones in his room, too." Quote: She nodded and jogged up the stairs, taking two at a time. She pushed open what looked like the door to find the feien's guardian where he was supposed to be. Quote: Xander was stretched out on the bed, barely breathing, eyes closed. He doesn't even have the blankets pulled over him - and he's not laying straight. Quote: "He looks like he fell onto his back here.. Like collapsed backwards and didn't lay down.." She said worriedly. She walked up and Looked at him, putting a hand against his forehead for a fever etc. She set her bloom and the Feien down on the bedside table. "This looks bad.." Halo sighed. Quote: He didn't have a fever. He wasn't trembling either. His skin felt like ice. Quote: Halo frowned deeper. She moved away to the phone, dialing 911. "I'm going to call an ambulance.." She nodded to the Feien on the table. "Alright? You'll have to hide I think when they come.. but you can slide into my pocket or something." Quote: "He's.. well I don't know. It doesn't look good.. or feel good. He'll be alright.." She gave him a reassuring smile, though she didn't feel very reassuring. She dialed 911, rambling off that her friends was sick.. to get there right away.. and the address. Quote: He slipped into her pocket, and curled into a ball, crying softly.

I don't know what's been going on really. Dreisan was here to stay but I don't know if he still is or if he disappeared. I haven't even heard how Xander, his bonded, has been.
I guess he's alive if Driesan is.
I've been pretty occupied with life and making sure my bloom is as comfortable as possible.
I do all the normal things you need to do with a flower. Water, sunlight. There hasn't been too many bad reactions.. I keep it away for overly large amounts of water because, well, it doesn't seem to need it.
It sits in the window sill and the tree outside makes good shade so the sun isn't too strong.
I talk to it often and keep it with me when I sit at the computer. I explain what I am doing and play music, telling it what I've been listening to.
Sometimes I find Gallium in a corner, behind some action figures, talking to bloom in a hushed voice. I have no idea what it is.. but it's probably something diabolical. Or just her bitching about various mendels.
I hope it emerges soon.. And I think Gallium does too.

MY FEIEN EMERGED!! She's gorgeous.. Quote: Halo had waken up late, as usual. It was a normal Wednesday with nothing really to do. She got up and immediately checked on her bloom in the window.
..Still a bloom.
With a smile she picked it up and went to sit at the computer, only to find Gallium already there, playing Neverwinter Nights.
"Finally woke up?" The Mendel peered up through darkly lined eyes.
"Yeah. yeah.. What are you playing?"
"Neverwinter. Hordes of the Underdark. I have a Red Dragon disciple he's kicking major a**. Dragon wings are ******** awesome."
Halo chuckled and sat down to watch, setting the bloom next to the Mendel, who greeted it with a, "Yo.."
Halo don't know how it happened really, Gallium was muttering about '******** skeletons.. goddamn zombies' and the human was watching.
She felt the dog nudge my leg and a glance down to pet him, a glance back up... and..
Well my bloom was gone. And there was a gorgeous little feien in it's place.
Halo blinked.. and blinked again.
"Hi.."
The feien turned her silver eyes to the human. "You are my bonded, correct?"
"That would be correct, yes.."
Gallium looked over. "HOLY ******** s**t.." She peered closer. "Stripes? That's cool. But pink hair? ...Eh.. it's reddish pink. You're allowed to stay.."
The feien looked at her. "Gallium. You talk and curse a lot. I know that much."
Halo chuckled. "Yeah.. you're right.." A name. "A name. We need to name you.."
Gallium looked back at her game. "Valsharess. The crazy Drow lady."
"Valsharess." The feien repeated. "It's adequate. Yes. Val for short."
"Val for short.." I chuckled. "Darlin you just named yourself after a villain.. But it means queen if I'm not mistaken.."
Val smirked a little and shrugged.

- Val is settling in and proves to be.. well. I'm not sure. She's odd. She can be quiet at times and very vague when you try and get anything of value out of her. I'm not sure if she is like this on purpose or not.
As it stands, I set her up a small home. I used one of the carboard boxes I had stuff from college in. I cut a hole for a door and then some for windows as well. I took the cue from other owners and found that Christmas tree lights make good illumination. These have the rotating switch on the cord so she can turn them on and off at her leisure.
She was quietly pleased about what I bought her from the shop and she took them into her room and arranged them. She's using a spool of thread as a table but she seems content with sleeping in lumps of cotton stuffing on the floor, as opposed to a bed. I feel like I'm housing a borrower..
She's reading a lot. Gallium urges it. I have been reading Neil Gaiman and so, in essence, so has she. It's sort of a pain finding my bookmarks moved. Gallium has also been coaching her in use of the computer but she doesn't seem as interested as my little gothy mendel is. She is learning to type though. Gallium is going to teach her to use a journal, I believe.
Val seems to be developing at her own pace. I do find her sitting in front of my face when I wake up in the morning, legs crossed, in front of my mouth.
Weirdo.

I learn to type from Gallium. She is an odd being. Odd odd odd.
She calls me odd but I think she is mistaken. Her vulgarity must cloud her mind. Shift her thoughts. Blind her towards truith. Or perhaps she sees her own truth. Do all beings see their own version of the truth? I should think on this.
I met people. Other feien's like myself. Halo says this is a good thing. I met Semella and she is very nice. She has a past life she does not remember. I would like to help her if only to satisy my bubbling brain. Curiosity. Indeed indeed. I also met Rislin. She is new.. like me.
We shall be friends, I decide. Buddies. Mates. It should be interesting to discover things with her. I would like it very much.
I need to read more. My thoughts are quick. Is this odd? I switch subject very fast but I know what I am talking about. Halo says it's a bit much. Confusing. My speech patterns are odd, she relates to me with a nod of her head. Hmm.
yes I need to read more. Discover. It would be good. I should get out. The world is the stage. Dance, dance on.

Valsharess sat in the garden of their new house, her piece of red string in hand. She was sitting on a large lily pad and dangling it in the water at the Koi swimming underneath her. It was a wonder they didn't come up and try and nibble on her red foot, dabbling lightly in the water.
"Stop looking ******** miserable." Gallium was on the bank of the pond with her notepad, doodling and drawing away. "I'm trying to get this realistic. You look like s**t.. its ******** up my mood."
"Miserable?" Val turned her head to look at Gallium placidly.
"Don't ******** move!" The mendel chucked a tiny pebble nearby and missed Val by a longshot. The rocked plopped into the pond innocently and Val watched the ripples with calm silver eyes before just smirking and looking back at her string.
"I am not miserable you see. I am simply contemplating, oh Gallium. Oh Chemical one." She swirled the string over the surface of the water and watched the ripples it made. It was mesmerizing.
"What are you contemplating, weirdo?" Like sisters, Gallium and Val had gotten used to eachother's manners of speech and little quirks. They were both tolerant thus far. Or Gallium just had no good reason to hate Val...
"Life. Love. The mysteries of the universe." Valsharess tucked back some red hair that had fallen in her eyes and chuckled. "Why are we here?"
Gallium groaned. "Alright Buddha.. or Jesus.. or whoever the ******** it is." She continued to sketch, angling everything so she didn't drip onto the paper.
"Not like that.." Valsharess chuckled. She'd learned that her thought processes were often too mixed up for anyone but herself to understand. She left most of what she was thinking out.. and the rest she tried to translate so the others could understand much more easily. "I have done nothing.. since my arrival, birth, emergence. Hello here is Valsharess. She is red and striped. But what else is she?"
Gallium muttered something like 'Freak' and kept drawing.
"I sit here in the day and discover things in the house. I go to Mael and entertain him and make sure he does not eat me but he is a baby, offspring, unknowing. Does he have purpose yet?"
"He's a ******** baby Val."
Valsharess kept talking, "I have done nothing. I know of a few other feien and have not pursued anything further with them. Do I have friends? Do they consider me a friend? Am I just odd? They are juveniles as well. I do not know what their lives are like and if they know things that I do not."
"Well then ******** go and stop bitching about it." Gallium muttered again.
"Perhaps. I am not sure how to go about such thing, meetings, agreements and understandings. Halo is busy with things in the house and with school and Wren. Their life is complicated. Not so nearly as mine. I feel as if I have some undiscovered potential.. And what of my family? The real one? I was a bloom. Which means I must have parents. Halo has told me as much. Shall I meet them? Hello. I am your daughter. Mother. Father. Am I a disappointment to you? Pride?" Val spoke in a completely neutral tone, calm, staring at the water with wide eyes as one does when they are captured with something.
The oozing mendel shook her head, "******** mushy s**t. Who cares? Maybe not me. I was from a test tube. I'm an accident."
"I am not an accident, oozy one, element being." Val chuckled. "I have much to do it seems. To accomplish, do. Places to go and meetings and accords to make."
"Then ******** DO IT. Stop talking about it and ******** do it. God you moan all the time." Which was a lie. But it was Gallium speaking so it seemed that way to her.
"Where do I start?" Val turned her head to look at Gallium and the mendel blinked up at her.
How was she supposed to know? If she was a feien... what would she do? Fly around.. go places.. try and get piercings cause she had real flesh... Zap people with her magic powers.... YEAH.
"Magic."
"What?"
"DON'T ******** MOVE!"
Val turned her head back to it's former position, "Magic?"
"Yeah.." The mendel continued drawing. "You are a faerie thing.. so you have magic powers. That's just how it works. So learn how to use them.. Then ******** the s**t out of people for me."
Val pondered this. Magic. Yes she did know she had it. She was told. It was a beginning.
"Oh.. and then let me pierce you." Gallium threw it in at the end with a grin.

"You will be 3 months old tomorrow." Halo sat on the floor, cross legged, with her child Otium in her lap. The baby was completely black and white, down to the clothing he wore, and he had an enormous top hat that he refused to take off.
"I am aware.." Val hovered in front of Otium's face wearing her usual calm smile. She was waving her red string back and forth and the baby was trying to grab it.
"Well.. do you want anything? A gift or a party or something?" Halo followed the feien with her eyes. She felt rather bad, as her bonded, that she'd been spending a lot fo time with the new children and not as much time with her feien or mendel. Gallium didn't seem to care but Val was hard to read.
"No thank you.." Val zipped up to stand on the brim of Otium's hat and his eyes crossed as he tried to look up and see her.
"Listen Val," Halo sighed, "I know I've been busy with the new kids and working and Halloween and everything.. I don't mean to neglect you really. You know you can go out as much as you want.."
"Do not fret, Halo, oh bonded one." Val looked up at Halo as her weight pushed the brim of Otium hat down. The little boy pushed it back up and Val started to hover again. "It is not your fault you have a life and I have done little with mine. I will try to be more sociable, out there, in the world. If it pleases you. If you feel less failed if I do so."
Halo blinked at her. She wasn't sure if Val really thought she was a failure or not. "I .........guess. But.. is there anything you want?"
"No.. no indeed. I do not want anything. I am simple, plain, simplistic. I have no wants or needs. If you don't mind I would like to be able to sit with the babies when they sleep.."
"Sit with the babies?"
"yes please." Val didn't explain. She didn't blink or flinch or give any sort of sign of her intentions.
"Well.. I err.. suppose?"
"Splendid. Wonderful. Lovely. Smashing. Thank you very much. Ahh oops.."
Otium had caught hold of the feiens legs and was pulling them towards his mouth to suck on. She wriggled free of his spitty grasp and hovered out of his reach.
"Otium.. what did I tell you? No eating your siblings..." Halo chided the boy softly and Val just smiled and let her tiny wheels in her brain spin in their mixed up and odd ways.
