So, I've had middle back, upper back and neck pain for most of my life. I don't take meds for it because that's only a temporary cure that I don't want. I do go to a chiropractor but it's easier to deal with smaller pain issues with simple cures. My mom has a neck pillow thing that can be heated up and she says it really relieves the muscles. It's has all natural ingredients inside of it like lavender but there's a problem. I know lavender is supposed to be calming but I'm allergic to it! ~and most strong scented flowers, grass, etc. I love herbs and I'm not allergic to those. Does anyone know of more natural herb based cures for back pain? Or if they even sell those pillow thingy's without lavender? (I can't find them without it.. gonk )

I got some heat packs like that, without the herbs, at Walgreen's several years ago. You heat them in the microwave with a cup of water beside them, and they get steaming hot! You can make your own with just fabric and some rice.

Have you tried those mattress foam pads? I use that for my back and I notice my pain doesn't come up as often.

And for my neck, I use this water pillow. It's like a foam pillow with a pocket of water in it. It's super comfy since it's soft and moves around, not stiff like the foam pillow. I don't get any neck pains anymore.

Also yoga and pilates are good, but sometimes it makes things worse. So knowing which pose work and don't work are important.

100% cotton would be the best.

Wow, im so glad you made this thread.

I do chores and things outside daily, then come and sit on this computer in this chair, and it kills my back sweatdrop

I have a thingy that you heat up in the microwave as Sunset said.
I use it on my stomach when i have menstrual cramps :]

I'll try to use that on my neck from now on, see if it relaxes my back at all.

Try raising your computer monitor. Ours sits on a stack of old phone books. Everyone here is tall, and raising the monitor made all the difference. You really have to watch your posture if you spend a long time on the computer---you may also have to adjust the distance from your eyes to the computer monitor, so you don't lean forward all the time.

You might try a willow bark infusion; it contains asprin, which would still just be a temporary fix but it's a lot better than pills xd Rosemary is a good muscle relaxer so it might help some (tea is usually best unless you feel like making an infusion with alcohol) Other things that could worsen your pain include how you sleep, the way you walk, your posture while sitting, the soles of your shoes, wearing shoes with heels, the heaviness of your purse or backpack, the shape of the seat in your car (if you drive for more than a few minutes at a time), and how you hold your head when you walk.

I also heard on the radio that low-rise jeans press in on a certain nerve around your hip bones that often causes back pain and leg muscle spasms sweatdrop Not sure about the credibility of this, though.

I know I just heart my pad. I've been sleeping without it for a few weeks since we just moved and my back is really unhappy. I'm finally getting it back this weekend and I'm just so excited wink

My mom has had her bqck broken three times and has been on all the meds and so forth, of course, it wsa only temporary as you well know. She has (sorry if I spell badly) scoliosis and ostepreosis. She feels like her ribs are breaking and gets terrible migranes from the pain, so I will list what she does/uses to help relieve the pain. She does stretches and yoga at times to help relieve the stress on her back, like laying on her bed and leaning forward, feet tucked under. It's the nutral yoga pose I think. She also has a zero-gravity chair and a special sleep matress from the relax the back store. She uses a small neck pillow from said store as well, but it has memory foam in it and not rice, herbs, etc. Then she uses this oil on her back: (goes to look for it) yeah, I can't find it right now and she's not home, but it comes in a dark green, glass bottle with a white and orage lable. I'll tell you what it is later when she gets back ^_^ Other than that, nothing really works except some other special medic creme she has, idk what that one is either, sorry. Try to sleep on your back and not on your side or front, that should also help a bit; gives your back a rest.

I told my husband this past weekend that I need to start bringing my special pillow when we go places. We were at the in-laws and I just slept so bad. And, after 4 months I finally got back my mattress pad! It was lost in the garage crying It smells like cars, but I'm so happy to be sleeping with it again.

@Prince Gackt-sama : man, your mom has it rough....makes my backache seems like an itch. That oil sounds interesting though!
