{{So sorry for the delay Niss! My exchange student got here on Saturday late and I've literally been running since then with no real time to do anything. So here goes xD}}

A darkness was rapidly coloring the sky, erasing any traces of midday's brilliant blue, like looking at a blue jay's wing, covering the bright day with the quiet night. As the sky's blue and black shades mixed a softer color, missing the harshness of both the extremes, was created, a soft navy, lightly brushed like wind barely rippling the surface of the water. This dark blue was deep and intense, rapidly casting shadows that were almost impossible to pierce into the forests, pockets of gloom beneath the trees, but there was still a bit of life to it, still something besides the endless black expanse that was the normal night sky. Small pinpricks of light dotted the blue sky, the star's eternal glimmer and shine, while above all was the moon, its soft radiance and bright white glow showing one red winged Soquili the way she should travel through the forest.

Newadi'Woyi had been flying earlier but as the darkness had fallen she had retreated to the ground, not wanting to fly when it was too dark in unfamiliar territory. With the full moon's white glow to illuminate her path, she was in no danger as she picked her way along the outskirts of the forest, the place where the trees gave way to the rolling hills and endless expanses of the plains. She wasn't worried even the slightest; the evening was warm, but not hot, the perfect temperature for a nighttime stroll, she was in new territory, the full moon illuminated all in perfect beauty, she could explore the sparse landscape of the grassy plains for herself. It was beautiful and peaceful, the kind of situation that might have made a Soquili more inclined to music hum to herself or create a little melody on the spot. But 'Woyi had never been that type of Soquili, so she simply walked, ears and eyes perked for anything new, a little bit of bounce in her step, her tail swooshing back and forth pleasantly, her wings relaxed, the purple-and-white end feathers rustling in the slight breeze. She was here to enjoy the night's pleasures, and that was enough to make the wandering mare very glad indeed.

As the shadow of night encircled the world a rustling sound of feathers signaled the sleepy planet that the thief had taken off. The night did not worry him at all. The black sky was as familiar as a child's cradle and the moonlight bathing his wings was a blanket. Moving about and flying in the dark hours proved more comfortable for him for several reasons. The main being that it was hard to pick him out against a dark backdrop making his work that much easier.

An easy smile sat on his face as he pulled into a shallow dive dipping closer to the earth. He tilted to the side letting a wing tip brush the tops of a few trees before banking to the left to head away from the forest. He had been all over in those trees and hadn't found anything interesting in his last few visits. Tonight he would try somewhere new and within a few minutes he was in sight of his destination.

The long grasses of the plains hid many things from view so who knew what treasures could be lurking there. With a small sound almost resembling a laugh he leaned to the side and began to spiral downwards, his black shadow growing steadily smaller on the ground until he touched down.

The brick colored mare was wandering slowly, occasionally stopping and taking a bite of the plains grass, content in the soft, caressing glow of the moon's light to let her hooves take her wherever they might. All around her the plains undulated softly as she moved away from the cover of the trees, letting her form sink into the cover of the tall grasses. The grass of the plains was a beautiful color in the sunlight, a perfect gold, liquid and brilliant, touched with just the barest hint of sparkle by the sun's light. Sometimes 'Woyi wished she could be that type of golden hue.

But that was when her eyes caught the slightest hint of movement from above, almost impossible to pick out against the dark sky, and that was when the mare stopped, eyes focused to her left, where she had seen the flash of movement. Accompanying it came a rustle of feathers, large feathers, much like her own, though they were quiet, controlled, almost as if whoever was flying had spent many nights under the cover of darkness. Which might be a bad thing, a dangerous one, but 'Woyi was simply interested.

It was silent and still for several long moments after she had caught the sound and sight of the other creature, for, try as 'Woyi might, her eyes were not exceptional at picking out things from night's embrace. But her ears pricked forward again at a small...laugh?...from the direction of the earlier disturbance and she turned her body entirely to the left, taking a few small steps forward. "Hello?" she called, slightly tentatively, but without any real fear in her voice. Though she had wandered far since her foalhood, she had never encountered anything too dangerous on her travels, and saw no reason not to attempt to meet someone new, even if it was under the cover of darkness.

The thief bowed his shaggy purple maned head into the grass and began what promised to be a nearly endless task. He moved slowly keeping his eyes wide to catch any glint in the low light of the moon. That would mean there was something shiny there and that meant there was something likely of value there. After only a few short moments of searching something caught his attention but it was not a sight, it was a sound. A voice specifically. A female voice.

He lifted his head and peered about in the dark trying to pick out the source of the voice. He couldn't see anyone in the dim light. "Hello." He called back setting off in the direction he was pretty sure the voice had come from. Ordinarily he would be unhappy to be interrupted during his work but if it was a mare he was fine with that.

"Who's out here?" There was a smile in his voice and on his face. While his work was far from boring he found that the fairer sex was much more entertaining. There was no reason why he couldn't look and speak with another all at once.

'Woyi could hear the other form moving slowly. If the mare had been better able to trust her night vision she might have said the other one was searching for something (probably something lost) but the light was not the kind to give a better view of anything other than that which she was close to or that which set off its own light, such as metal.

Then came the response as she heard the other moving toward her and 'Woyi pricked her ears, intrigued. It sounded like a male Soquili's voice, and he seemed to be in a good mood. That always made a meeting much more enjoyable. And 'Woyi loved to talk to lots of different Soquili, be they male or female, so this was simply making her night even better. She wasn't the type of Soquili that was more content to wander alone than to visit with others, or who grew angry when their silence was interrupted. She wanted to meet others, to learn their stories, their lives. She couldn't wait every time another Soquili came near her. She had been that way ever since she had first snuck about and wandered as a foal, and she saw no reason to change that now.

"My name is Newadi'Woyi," the mare said, stepping toward the other Soquili with an answering smile on her face (though she could not see his at the moment to realize that he, too, was interested in their meeting). "Might I ask--and hopefully see, though this night is perhaps not the most helpful for that--who I have the honor of meeting tonight?"

He continued on in the direction that he thought the mare was located. As she spoke again he made a slight adjustment in his path and pressed on. 'Newadi'Woyi'. He whistled softly at the sound. That was one hell of a name, he was going to have to find some way to shorten it. Newa, perhaps? Or Woyi? Something definitely, he couldn't just call a girl 'you' after all. That would be rude.

He chuckled as she asked to see him. In the darkness that would prove tricky but the more she spoke the closer he was to finding her really. Her voice kept him on the right track. "The name's Dark Mousey." He answered after a short while not entirely sure where to head from here. The plains were big and while he didn't hear any movement from anything aside from the wind it was possible that she was not stationary.

"I'm sure we could meet face to face, just keep talkin and I'll find you." He considered for a moment taking to the skies to get a birds eye view. He would be able to pick out a large enough black spot from the sky, however, it was also likely that he would find a small number of rotting logs or bushes or things like that. He had no intention of spending the better part of an hour hopping from tree to tree.
