Welcome to the Silky Slime Laboratory. ^^ I am your host (and the shopkeeper mule account), LabTech143.



Silky Slimes are small adoptables that you can display in your Gaia Online sig or journal. They can be as interactive or not as you desire. For example:

• Non-interactive: You purchase an active Silky Slime, put it in your sig, and then never do anything with it again except look at it once in a while.
  
• Interactive: You purchase a sleeping Silky Slime and also purchase several different active states of the same Silky Slime, each with different emotes. You switch out the urls in your sig whenever you want to change the Silky Slime's mood or awake/sleeping status. You roleplay the Silky Slime in this guild. You breed your Silky Slime and adopt the baby. You purchase more states and moods for the baby as well. You keep breeding your Silky Slimes and purchasing new ones now and then. You take over the world with your Silky Slime army!

*cough* Anyway, you get the idea. Meriko created the Silky Slime Laboratory because she thought that everyone on Gaia should be able to afford a Breedable Pet. That is why there are no set prices in this shop (except for occassional limited editions and special items) for purchasing or breeding! We only accept gold, but you can purchase or breed a Silky Slime for just one gold if you want. (Thankfully most people send a lot more than that, or else we wouldn't be able to pay the lab techs!)

You can purchase the following types of Silky Slimes at the Silky Slime Adoption Office. Please go to the thread for details on exactly how to purchase a Silky Slime.

You can breed the following types of Silky Slimes at the Silky Slime Breeding Laboratory. Please go to the thread for details on exactly how to breed your Silky Slimes.

• Gen-II Silky Slimes (non-customizable slime, customizable environment)
  fire elemental, water elemental, air elemental, earth elemental, shiny
  
  
• Gen-III Silky Slimes (non-customizable slime, customizable environment)
  sun, jellyfish, cloud, frog, planet

Another part of Meriko's vision for the Silky Slime pets was for a person to be able to own a pet that could get hungry or sleepy or emotional without worrying that it would starve or get sick and end up dying while you were logged out. Therefore all Silky Slime images are to be hosted by yourself through your own webspace or image hosting account, and so their current status and mood are under your control.

For example, let's say I purchase a regular green Silky Slime named Squishy. I purchase a few different variations of the same slime. In one he is sleeping. In another he is awake and emoting a heart. In another he is awake and rocking out to some music. I upload all three images and put the sleeping version in my sig.



When I want him to wake up, I change the url of the image to point to the awake/heart image.



When I want him to listen to some music, I change the url of the image to point to the boombox image.



The nice part of this system is that I can go on vacation and not have to worry that my Silky Slime is slowly starving to death. ^^ My slime is, instead, doing exactly what I want it to be doing at all times.



You may roleplay yourself as the owner along with your Silky Slime, or you can just roleplay your Silky Slime by itself. As for where to roleplay, you may roleplay alone in a "Private" roleplay thread or together with other Silky Slime owners in a "Group" roleplay thread. The creator of any given roleplay thread may set the rules for that thread (example: no god mode, no kill attempts, everyone post in black text only, ooc chatter okay).

To roleplay just your Silky Slime and yourself, create a new thread in the Private Roleplay and Silky Slime Collection Threads sub-forum and put [PRP] in the beginning of the thread title. This sub-forum can be used for more than just private roleplay threads. Please feel free to create Silky Slime collection display threads, future Silky Slime wishlists, breeding notes, or whatever other Silky Slime information you may want to keep track of for yourself.

To create a roleplay thread where anyone can come in and roleplay with you and your Silky Slime, create a new thread in the main forum and put [GRP] in the beginning of the thread title. Please think of a theme, location, adventure, or some other aspect of your thread that will make it different from other group roleplay threads. Here are some examples of specific and unique group roleplay threads:

[GRP] Barton West Field.
[GRP] A Random Dark Alley in Durem. Silky Slimes get LOST! ;0;
[GRP] Squishy's birthday party at LabTech143's house. Everyone invited!
[GRP] "Moonlight over Durem" Story-style literate adventure roleplay.

This thread and the various stickies may not provide all the information you need. Please feel free to create new threads in order to ask questions, or ask them in the Chatterbox thread. One of the staff or another Silky Slime owner will answer your question as soon as they are able. ^^

You may PM LabTech143 if you want to keep your question private, and one of the shopkeepers will respond to you via the LabTech143 account. Please do not PM the shopkeepers/crew directly about Silky Slimes. Thank you~

The Silky Slime Shop has been updated with two new bases (sand, grass) and two new base accessories (cactus, flower cactus).

Our first breeding was a success! And we have discovered 2 different types of slimes! surprised

A new subforum named "Private Roleplay and Silky Slime Collection Threads" has been created. All PRP and collection threads have been moved to this new subforum, and any new PRP/collection threads should be created here as well.

This is an experiment of sorts to see how it works out. Feedback is appreciated (either posting in the Chatterbox thread or creating a new thread to discuss this is fine) and if it doesn't work out we can always move all of the threads back to the main forum. ^^
