Keone + Amri RP

(Amon and Final Crucible)
Quote:
A spotted form moved silently through the jungle, his white color blending surprisingly well with the green that surrounded him. He moved with the grace and agility of a jungle cat, having lived among the trees since cubhood. Perhaps this knowledge would make it less surprising that his steps made no sound despite the fact that he made no attempt to silence them. In fact his movements where deliberate, purposeful, as if the falling night guided him to a specific location.
Every few moments he looked upward, green eyes straining to see through the canopy, as if searching for something in the sky beyond. In fact this small leopard did have a specific destination in mind, he was headed for his favorite tree. It was from the height of this tree that he liked to watch the stars at night, something he enjoyed even more when Karama was with him.
Night was falling fast, he’d have to hurry if he wanted to reach his tree in time.

Settled in a small clearing, a pale form of a grey leopard settled on his haunches, the twilight glimmering through the trees. He lifted a paw and lapped at his pelt, an effort to clean the blood that still lined it and hoping to not run into any others. Mafujo was slumbering in his mind, but Amri knew he would not stay idle for long. As long as he breathed, the darkness would take over, and his dark side would return to commit crimes. Crimes he would wake up and not remember.
Looking up a moment later, he let his ears flicker as his pink eyes peered out around the surroundings, "Hello?" He asked softly, and closed his eyes, hoping no one would answer.

The leopard’s ears flicked, tail curling and swaying casually behind him. Looking up toward the canopy again, he could see that night had almost fallen, the deep darkness of the jungle surrounding him, his form disappearing among the green far more easily than in the day.
Having spent his entire life in the jungle, Keone was comfortable here in the green. Even in the darkness that might have caused others to be wary, Keone moved with ease and agility, weaving his way through trees without a second thought.
His ears flicked again, pausing in mid-step, his gait in that awkward stance between a trot and a sudden stop. Green eyes searched for the source of the sound that had reached his ears, a voice?
”Who…who’s there?”
Quote:
Opening one eye, Amri was less than pleased to hear a response. Slowly moving up to all four paws, his tail swung back and forth idly. Before long, he heard the voice of Keone, he shifted and stepped closer to where the voice came from.
"Just a leopard..." Suddenly, he was not so sure he should have responded. Like when he met the female from before, it wasn't unsafe for another leopard, because they knew not to mess with eachother, but if it was a lion, or even anothr animal, he might be in worse luck. Lions seemed to think they have the power over others, and thus were a huge threat.
"...though don't think I am a pushover!" He said suddenly, though clearly in his voice, there was a nervous tone. Amri wanted to be alone, just incase.

The small leopard nearly yelped at the response, the sound of startled paw steps as he jumped backward echoing through the jungle. Keone was small for a leopard, no bigger than the average adolescent despite his adult age. Skiddish in nature, though highly curious, he was about as dangerous as a dust bunny…actually he would have run away from the dust bunny.
“I…I’m just trying to get to my tree.”
Green eyes searched the dark, his nose twitching in the direction the voice had come. Picking out movement in the distance and what he took to be the form of the other leopard, Keone took a step back, moving away from the creature in case it wanted to attack him, which to the skiddish little jungle cat seemed to be the case.
“I’m….a leopard too… you sure you’re not a hyena trying to eat me?”

Amri raised a brow at the fact that the other seemed keen on keeping out of the light. Stepping closer dispite himself, he just sniffed the air before his ears perked at the voice. Shaking his head, he looked behind and than to both sides, before finally looking back to where Keone was still hidden.
"No, I am not a hyena...they don't live around here..." He said softly, before stepping closer somemore, "Look, this place isn't safe anyways...I'm not safe...' The last part was a murmer, and when he said that he turned and moved back to his spot, looking at the last traces of blood stained on his pearly pelt. Shaking his head, he just settled with his back to Keone.

He blinked, still quite unsure of the other leopard, and seemingly not convinced for a moment that it wasn’t a hyena. If hyenas didn’t live in the jungle then why had he run into one here? But now that he thought about it he had only ever seen one hyena, so maybe the stranger was right.
“The jungle is my home, why would it be unsafe?”
Tail flicking, Keone took a cautious step forward, his muscles coiled as if to run at any moment, his senses guarded. Well, it looked like a leopard, but its confused him. What was he talking about?
“What do you mean you’re not safe?”

Amri took a moment to look over his shoulder with clear, bright pink eyes, before letting out a soft humph. Shaking his head and lowering his ears, he glowered a bit and started to pout slightly. It only happened a second before he took a deep breath and turned again, not making any other move to get close to the other male.
"I don't even know the answer to that..." Trailing off, he just lifted a paw and brushed an itch behind his ear, before his claws caught and he recoiled slightly, "Ouch..."

Keone titled his head, a bit curious, wary, and confused all at once. He didn’t understand this stranger at all, and he still wasn’t sure what to think of him. But something in the back of his mind told him to not to approach, and for once he was listening, despite his curious nature breaking through.
“How can you not know? Hey…are you hurt?”
He looked up to the sky and sighed, he had already missed nightfall. But he could still watch the stars tonight.

With a sharp glare of questioning, Amri just wished the other would accept his answers. It was so much harder when they kept on prying, and already he was growing weary of the meeting and just wanted to get away from this one as well. His vision was growing weary of tire or just because Mafujo was getting antsy. He had no idea of what happened, but he figured he would call his blackout-side chaos, Mafujo.
"Because I am not awake when he is out...and have never met...him." Amri said softly, "You be careful, when he is out, there is nothing that will stop him...nothing that keeps him entertained for long..." Nodding, he thought of how it might be better not to speak of Mafujo aloud...and he slowly regretted his maw.

The small leopard blinked, and suddenly his curiousity forgotten, jumped back and away from the other leopard, his stance guarded, eyes darting as if searching for something or decided if he should run or not, ears twitching as if searching for some sound, some indication of the presence of another.
“Him? Is there someone else here?”
Keone didn’t understand, how could this leopard know of the other if he had never seen him? So then how could he know he was dangerous? But somehow he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched and he briefly wondered if this was how prey felt. Was there another creature nearby? Was this one planning to attack him? He could always escape into the trees if something happened, but would he be able to escape another leopard.
“I…ummm....”

"No." Amri eyed the jump, before shaking his head, "You're alright, I think Mafujo is gone for now...but if you see him, or if you ever hear of him, don't trust him at all...he is bad news..." Trailing off for a last time, he stepped closer again and smiled softly, a friendly gesture before he looked up to the clearing of the overgrowth above them.
"Pleasent night though, isn't it?" The topic swiftly changed, Amri hoped to get the other to calm down at least, just incase he changed, it would be better for the other to be calm. Suddenly, he realized he didn't know the other's name, and just chuckled lowly under his breath before adding, "By the way, my name is Amri."

“You sure?”
Keone wasn’t convinced, he was certain what he had felt was real. But his senses picked up no traces of another, no sound reached his ears, no scent his nose, and all he could see what himself and the other leopard.
As the other spoke, Keone looked up to the sky, green eyes lighting as he saw the stars peeking through the canopy. They were beautiful indeed even from down here, and they seemed to calm him, a small smile crossing his maw.
“Yes, it is.” He blinked, looking back to the other leopard, “Oh, my name is Keone.”

"Well Keone, it is a pleasure to see another leopard, earlier I met a female, and we both agreed, there needs to be more here," He settled on his haunches, not sure what else to do and not going to offer up anything except for conversation for the smaller leopard male, "There are too many lions and hyenas in this world..."
No distain filled the words, for Amri wasn't one who was against lions, he just wanted more company of his kind, and more friends. However, he knew there was no place for friends in his life, for always they ran off after one of his blackouts.
"All we have is our sanctuary in the trees here, the lions have the plains, and we have the jungles..."

“I like lions…”
Not that he had met many lions, but the lioness he had met was nice to him and he had showed her about the fish. So because she was nice, he liked had decided he liked lions and couldn’t understand why other leopards didn’t. It was an unfortunate fault of his, to judge an entire species on his experiences with one individual, he also tended to jump to his own naïve conclusions.
He pawed at the earth beneath his feet, a nervous flick of his tail showing that he was still uncertain, unwilling to dismiss the danger he had felt, though he did seem to have relaxed.
“What’s wrong with that? I like the jungle.”

"Nothing..." Amri said softly to both of his comments, growing unconfortable in the presence, before suddenly laughing softly, "I must be keeping you, Keone, so please, don't let me hold you any longer." In reality, he was really frustrated with himself and the blood on his paws seemed to never go away. It caused fear to brush through his system, and for him to speak any longer with Keone would mean they would head towards friendship. He did not need friendship, and could not afford it. It would only hurt others in the long run.
"It has been a pleasure," He added with a soft, cheerful smile.

“Umm…”
The small leopard blinked in confusion. Why had Amri seemed to change moods so quickly? He had seemed to be fine a moment ago, but now it was like he was trying to get rid of him. It was perhaps more likely that Keone had just not picked up on the other’s unrest before then.
“Well I guess so…”
He started to turn, moving to walk away and continue his walk toward the large tree he watched the stars from. But he paused, looking back with one paw still off the ground, his voice barely a whisper.
“…if you want me to leave…”

Catching the question, the other adult kept silent, really indeed wanting the friendship but afraid of what it might bring. There were issues, attachments that would only cause difficulties and danger for everyone around him. It always happened and always would happen. So instead of taking it all back, he nodded once, before verbally confirming it.
"It would be better this way, though odds are in these trees, we will meet again. It is good to know I have an ally here," That same still, warm smile crossed his maw, as if a last minute attempt to sooth the other before they parted. No movement, just words that drifted sfotly, and resistance.

“’kay…”
The little leopard was too innocent, too naïve to understand. It wasn’t that he was unintelligent or slow, he just had never learned. He had grown up alone in the jungle with no memory of his parents or any life before, all he knew was what he taught himself and recently what he had learned from Karama.
But the idea that they would meet again did seem to make him feel a bit better, perhaps in the light he would not feel that same danger he had tonight. That would be fun right? And maybe he would make a new friend?
Nodding, he turned again and walked on, his white coat fading into the shadows of the jungle. The sound of rustling leaves revealed that he was still nearby, and a moment later he rushed out of the trees over to the other leopard, dropped a small stone at his feet, and raced off into the darkness again, his steps carrying him hastily toward his tree where he could watch the stars, his voice a distant echo over his shoulder.
“See you later then!”
