We, the Island clan, have been forced off of our home in an attempt to remain hidden from the world of the humans. Though we have been able to temporarily make our home near the coast, the time has come to find a new island from where we would be able to remain hidden as we always have.
Rumors from the imps have made their way to us about a cluster of islands deep in the valley, close to a bay that is impossible for the humans to get to by any means. Your task, my daughter, is to go and search for them. Though you be very young, your help with the previous meddle with the minotaurs and humans has proved you quite competent to do so. You may go alone, or with whom you choose to take with you.

"I see, father," Rii said to herself as she read the note. "I must obey, even if i think the humans could be scared off by our means, our secrecy would be shattered." Quickly, she took out a second piece of paper and wrote:
'Wanted:
Willing centaurs to accompany me on our search for a new isle.
you will be compensated for your time.
Must have some familiarity with the hidden bay north of the mountains, and/or the great forest.
I will be available in this town for a week. you can find me at room 12 in the inn.

Gin looked at the advertisement in the inn, scratching one of her horns and her tail idly swishing. "Hmm...compensated, huh? I'm a lil' familiar with th' bay an th' mountains...but I know th' forest well, since I spent th' last few months roaming it." She tugged on her third horn, contemplating applying.
There was a small burp at her hooves; Gin looked down and saw a chubby brown rabbit busily chewing greedily on carrots. She snorted. "That's where I, regretabbly, met your sorry lil' hide." She tossed her head when the rabbit burped again then went back to gorging himself on carrots. She'd stumbled upon the rabbit on her third day in the forest, inadvertently saving it from a hungry hawk, and the rabbit had yet to leave her side since. "Brainless bit of fluff" She scowled at the rabbit, but her warm tone belied her words.

Seven centaurs and five fawns came up to her and applied for the job that day, all of which had no clue about the area, only the fact that there was a chance at good money involved.
'It's shocking,' Rii said to the barkeep that evening after the unsuccessful interviews. 'i would of thought more people would actually read what the requirements were.' "yea, o'er my forty years workin' 'ere there wern't many folk i saw who actually do. most come here looking for good work. others have their other things to do...."

Gin still wasn't sure if she would take the job or not. Realizing her sake jug was empty, she went up to the bar for a refill and couldn't help over hear the conversation. "An' maybe some just want th' money." She handed her jug to the barkeep. "Jus' put it on my tab. There'll be a minotaur passin' through here in a couple o' days, an he'll take care of it." She smiled.

"the only problem though," Rii continued, turning to the strange centaur that had approached the bar, "is that some come up, expecting to get the job without seeing what the criteria are." Rii started to leave the bar, but stopped and turned back to the centaur, "Would you perhaps like to apply for the position?"

"Like I said, they just want th' gold. They dun care what the job is." She turned to the other mare. "And me, I'm one of th' ones that just wants th' gold." She grinned. "However, I jus' spent the last few months in th' forest, and I know the bay an th' mountains a bit, cuz tha's how I got here." She guzzled her sake. "If you're offerin' me th' job, I'll take it, but would yeh mind waitin another day or so? Cuz I got some unfinished business with a faun and a minotaur. Actually, I gotta give the faun to th' minotaur." She grinned wickedly.

Rii nodded. "I will be waiting a few more days actually, to prepare and gather more people who would be able to help. You know, you look rather familiar to me... What clan are you from?"

"Name's Gin. I dun think we know each other, but yeh might've seen me travelin' around. I'm from up north, an I dun have a clan...they're all dead." She took another swig of rice wine and spoke casually, as if she were talking about the weather.

"oh, my apologies." Rii replied. A flutter of tiny wings broke the silence as Sera flew down in a rush "Rii!! there's a minotaur coming this way!!!"
"A minotaur? Gin, didn't you say something about meeting a minotaur here earlier?" rii asked as she tried to calm down sera

Gin covertly looked from side to side, making sure no one else was listening. The barkeep heard, but as Gin often did business here, he wisely kept his nose out of it.
She frowned. "Yeah, but he shouldn't been here just yet...hope nothin' went wrong..." Her tail swished in agitation. " Them creatures got nasty tempers..."

"that's for sure" Sera said quite loudly, "We know firsthand how stupid Mi-" "Not so loudly sera." Rii said as she quickly cupped her hand over the imp's mouth. "it's vital to the mission that we make it out in one piece."

Gin took another swallow of her rice wine, then eyed Sera. "An angel imp, eh? Haven't seen one o' 'em in a long time. Alive, at least. Seen plenty o' dead ones, tho." She grinned at the angel imp.
She then turned to Rii, her face unusually serious. "Molech ain't nice. He's a mean, ornery old bull tha'll kill ya just as soon as look at yeh. And th' band o' minotaurs he lead ain't much nicer." She frowned again. "Hope he didn't bring 'em...he shouldn't of. He knows I'm good for my word. It's th' faun he's probably after..."
Gin swished her tail again, growing unusally worried. "This could be trouble. Molech brings me good business; we're old associates. Ain't friends; never any friends in th' business..." She shook her head again, sounding almost sad at having no friends. "But if he's coming early...he's angry about something, and an' angry minotaur ain't good."
gin raised her head and looked Rii directly in the eyes. "Yer imp said yeh knew first hand about minotaurs. What kind o' trouble did yeh have with 'em? And was any of it connected to Molech?"

"Well, not too long ago there was an minotaur invasion of mass proportion." Rii began, "We had to ally with a hated enemy in order to defeat it. In that battle that we fought, i slew many minotaurs, but only one of them escaped with it's life. otherwise, i don't think so." Rii sarched her pockets for a snack for sera, but her fingers touched something different..."hang on, does this Molech happen to have 3 ivory earrings on each ear? or at least seems like he should have 3 in one ear but one has been pulled out?"
