(( The title means "madness" in French. ))

Corbin's eyes roamed the street that his house sat on. Old and run down the house didn't amount to much and Corbin didn't make an effort to keep up with all the chores that needed to be completed. Why should he? Without her there was no reason to have anything look respectable. So the once find house was now a dump. Even through all the neglect it still seemed to stay in living conditions. You just couldn't make your way through the yard without getting tangled up in some kind of weed or walk through the house on a rainy day and not get wet.

"Hmph. Who cares.." Corbin muttered as he headed down the stone walkway that sat in front of his house. He clutched his jacket together and up close to his chin. He was cold. It was the middle of summer and he was cold. Strange for anyone except him. He sighed as he slammed the fence door closed with his free hand. He needed air. The house was musty and he didn't have any air freshener. So here he was. Out in the hot, summer air and not really knowing where he was going but knew that he was going to get there one way or another.

Christine ran her hands through her long, red hair, suppressing a loud yawn. She had been cleaning ever since she had woken up at eight that morning, cleaning every part of her house. Every part except his room, and any part of the house that his toys touched. It had been so long since she had cleaned any of those particularly places, that the whole house gleamed while those places collected dust. She remembered how James-- Christine shivered just thinking of the name. She remembered how he had hated it when she cleaned his room, even though he hated cleaning it himself. He was (is, Christine mentally corrected herself) such a complex child.

Sighing, Christine glanced to her right. Her 'To-Do' list stood out against the electric blue wall, reminding her forgetful self of what needed to get done that day. She reached out with her left hand and crossed out 'Clean the House', the third item on the list. Christine inhaled deeply, glancing down at the last item on her list. 'Find James' was scrawled out in unfamiliar hand writing. It was messy, harsh. The 'j' wasn't written with the particular flourish that Christine usually wrote them with. However, she vaguely remembered writing it that morning. And the seven hundred previous mornings.

A frown carved into her delicate features, Christine pulled on her converses and marched out her front door, gently closing the door behind her, despite the slight anger she was experiencing at that moment. Plus, some guy was walking by. He didn't seem to feel any better than she did.

Corbin's pale green eyes flickered as a glint of red caught his attention. Stopping where he stood he looked around. What had caught his attention? Was it his mind messing with him again? Just as he was about to start walking again his eyes fell back onto the red. Only this time he saw that it was hair. Hair belonging to a woman.

Corbin cocked his head to the side. An odd habit he picked up but couldn't remember from where. Something about the woman made him not want to look away. Was it her hair? No. Corbin had seen red heads before. Though he did have to admit her hair was rather bright. His hands twitched as they ached to clutch the cross that hung from his neck. He resisted. He had to break that habit. Other wise people might start to think he was religious. Corbin shook his head, trying to clear the random thoughts that were now floating through his head about crosses, false gods and red heads.

Christine nervously walked to the road, noting that the man was basically staring at her. Usually if she found herself in situations like this, she would worry about the man being either a homeless person or a murderer. But not today. There was something about him, like she knew him. Or rather shared a connection with him, like a current situation or predicament. But how could she possibly know about his situation? Maybe it was his eyes. He had nice eyes. "Uhm.. hello?" Christine said hesitantly, doing her best to smile pleasantly, despite everything that had happened, that was happening. She took one last step forward, into the road, before stopping. No need to get so close. Christine ran a hand through her long, red hair while waiting for a reply. She wasn't quite sure what to expect. He didn't seem to be what someone would describe as a friendly person.

Corbin raised an eyebrow as the woman said hello and moved closer to him. What was going on? No one ever made the initiative to talk to him. They usually took one look at him and walked away. "Hi.." He muttered in response to her friendly hello. Corbin's eyes followed the movement of her hand as she ran it through her hair. He blinked his eyes and looked back at her face. Distractions. They easily found him now a days. He had needed to focus. Focus on the woman in front of him that was actually giving him the time of day. Should he talk to the woman though? SHE wouldn't like it.

Corbin bit his lower lip and decided he'd talk to her and then move on. Just a friendly how do you do and then they'd move on. Never to bother each other again. That would be fine. Fine in deed. "H-how are you?" He managed to stutter out as he rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand.

(( The "SHE" he's thinking about is his 'lost love'. Kthxnx. xP))

Christine laughed nervously. The tension created by a simple hello was almost unbearable. Perhaps it had been better just to ignore him? His 'interest' in how she was doing was almost startling, she expected him to keep on walking and to ignore her. "Well, I'm fine I guess! I've certainly had much better days," Christine replied. She was trying to sound enthusiastic, sincere, but she had a feeling she might come off a bit strongly. Or rather, annoyingly.

"But what about you? You don't look so great, truth be told," Christine said, smiling sadly at him. She started to walk slowly, half hoping he would follow. Christine wasn't so sure why. He, no doubt, had errands of his own to run, and would much rather be doing those than help some stranger on the street find her son.

"I'm as fine as one could be in my situation." Corbin responded as he started walking with her. He had no clue why he was following her. Going with her where ever she was going. Maybe it was the need, he felt, to be around others. Even if he didn't acknowledge the feeling or even liked it. He'd much rather stay at home, alone. Though it seemed his mind was fighting him. Fighting that instinct to retreat into himself.

Corbin shrugged the thoughts out of his head as he turned his attention back to the woman. "Where you off to?" He asked as if they were all friendly and nice already. Like they've known each other for longer than just a few minutes.
