This must be what it a mother dropping her child off at their first day of school must feel like, Clara realized as she smiled at the hovering, mostly nonexistent dragonling, who had quickly tired of her asking if he was sure he'd be alright and turned his attention (and his new eyes) elsewhere. The pain of them not being fully dependent on you, and the joy of them growing up... The thought caused a soft giggle to lift from her lips.
The dragon flicked blue eyes back to her, sighing softly and folding his arms over the slender slip of chest that had formed. "Are you not going to be late, Clara?" He scolded carefully, one brow arching before he moved to shoo her. "Take your bonded and go. We will be fine here." The latter half of his words were soothing, though his expression remained stoic as ever.
"..Y-you're right," the girl laughed. "Besides, Mrs. V is here, even if you were to get in trouble~ Well! I guess I'll see you after class. Bye, Try," she swept down to kiss him on his newly exposed forehead, turning to wave at the rest. "Bye, Mrs. V! Bye, Envy! I'll see you after school!"
The dragon frowned - cheeks faintly flushed as he smoothed out his mussed bangs. "..Silly girl," he sighed, shaking himself and quickly flexing the leathery wings on his back as if to completely shake off the feeling before turning to his companions for the day, studying the human woman and the banshee in turn. "I thank you again, Lady Van de Burg and Invidia, for welcoming me into your home."

Wendell smiled as Clara came with her newly hatched orb-born. It was a small smile, more than Wendell mostly did. He and Clara had just started their relationship and it would be obvious at school now. He wondered how the others would react. But her orb seemed like a good match for her though it didn't seem like him all that much. He patted Envy's head as he took Clara's hand and walked to the car. He opened her door for her then drove off to class.
Mrs. V was so thrilled! It had been so long since she had little ones in the house! "Oh it's quite alright Try deary! I am always glad to help! Especially for my Clara and Wendell! Our home is on the second floor, the first floor is our parlor so you should stay upstairs with Invidia. Also Wendell's room is open to explore as well! I'll bring lunch up soon!" The plump woman waddled off to get ready for a viewing that was scheduled that morning.
Invidia blinked as Try was let in. He was different than Fiero. He acted a lot different. She wasn't sure what to make of him. Wendell had said he was a dragon, a very intelligent and long lived creature. Wendell had also explained that Try was like her brother since he and Clara were dating now. She sort of understood, but she didn't like him spending so much time with the female. She missted him. Also Try didn't know Sign Language so she had her small dry erase board with her. "Hello Try."

"Parlor?" He'd questioned softly to himself, though he agreeably went up the stairs to meet with the home's other resident. "Miss Invidia," he greeted, inclining his head and bowing as well as he could being constructed mainly of free-flowing ribbons as he was. The dragon sighed softly, eyes flicking across the dry erase board curiously before he offered a slight smile. "I'm glad you are attempting to speak with me despite my not understanding the language of hand signs," he offered again, nodding his head respectfully.
He'd been worried, when he'd first heard of coming here, that he would be unable to communicate with the young banshee. After all, their voices were the ones rumored to signal death, weren't they? Surely a creature such as that wouldn't be a active conversational partner. Clara had explained that she'd learned to speak with her hands - demonstrating her own basic knowledge by signing the human alphabet for him fumblingly - but had sighed regretfully while telling him it would have take awhile to teach him. He was suddenly glad for the silly little things humans kept around - like the markers and the white board the other carried as method of speech.

"I try. Parlor is for people to see dead body. There will be funeral today. That why we up here." Envy wrote and erased this to him, glad he at least understood why she had to use it. She showed him around the main living quarters; living room, dinning room, kitchen. She grabbed a quick snack for them both. All over the walls were pictures of a small blonde haired body that looked like Wendell when he was younger. "That Wendell when a baby."
Next she settled onto the couch and looked at the dragon. He was a lot more colorful than her. Lots of greens. She remembered his orb was green and had that little design in it. "Try want TV?"

"I see," he mused, glancing back before following her through the tour, pausing at the row of pictures to study them curiously.
"It is strange... seeing him with such fair hair," he announced after a moment or so, shrugging and moving to continue after the spirit quietly.
"The .. tv? Television?" He questioned after a moment, settling himself onto the couch as well and staring at the screen. "I overheard Clara's mother, the Lady Tinker, telling Clara one day that the television rots the brain," he idled, frowning curiously. "She only has one in her home - a large one in the room Clara calls the 'Family Room', but I have never seen it used."

"It not rot things. It entertain. Show you things" She proved her point by taking the remote and turning it on. Lets see, what to watch? What would a dragon like? Well she knew they horded princesses and treasure. As they didn't have a princess channel she turned it to the Jewelry shopping network. They had no money but at least Try could see stuff he may like.
The snacks Envy had taken were pretzuls and goldfish crackers. Mrs. V usually kept them around for the children. She offered some to the dragon he if was hungry.

"Are those.. tiny, dried fish?" The dragon mused, reaching to take one and hold it between his fingers in amusement. Carefully, he moved to pop it into his mouth, crunching down to jump. "It is crunchy," he observed as he swallowed. "And cheesy." He'd never heard of a crunchy, cheesy fish before.
A moment into the startling revelation that this world had dry, cheesy fish that were offered as snacks, Trygve's attention was again caught by the image on the screen - blue eyes widening childish as he moved to get closer, slender fingers pressing to the glass where a bracelet had been shown a moment prior. "So a television shows you.. whatever you want?" He questioned a moment later, tearing his eyes away from a model displaying a diamond tennis bracelet.

"They are cracker. Not real fish. But are good." She floated to the kitchen and got him a small bowl of them incase he wanted more. When she got back he was glued to the TV. She guessed she had picked the right channel.
"No, sometimes there is nothing on you want to see." She pulled out a magazine from a near by holder and opened it. "This tell what going to be shown. So you can plan to watch. This channel only show jewelry. All the time. Can buy if you have small card with numbers. Envy not understand well."
It was true, she didn't understand home shopping, and that might be a good thing. She couldn't use the phone to buy anythign anyway.

"A card with numbers?" He questioned thoughtfully after a long moment. "What strange currency," he continued to muse, barely looking up from the screen to absently munch on the goldfish. "..Hm. With all of these treasures, I wonder if they perhaps stole the hoard of a great dragon." His head tilted to the side, the end of his braid slithering across the upholstery. "Humans certainly live interesting lives..." Books to tell them what would be shown on the equivalent to boxy magic mirrors, crackers in the shape of fish. "Though I suppose they must, in compensation for having such a short time to live at all."

"Human have short life. Envy have many lives. All short. Try not have short life. He is dragon. Where does dragon come from?" She questioned the other orb-born as she munched on a pretzul. Remembering Fiero asking about where they come from she decided to see if he remembered anything about where he came from. Fiero couldn't remember his past but Envy could. She found it strange.
Mrs. V came up to check on the little ones, smiling brightly before setting a plate of raw veggies and dip for them to try as well. "I don't know what you like to eat Try dear, do you want anything special for lunch? Envy is a vegetarian like Wendell, she doesn't eat meat. But I suspect a dragon likes a bit of flesh in his diet."

"Dragons... well," he paused, looking thoughtful for a long moment. "..I remember living in a cave, surrounded by gems and gold," he whispered, sighing softly. "I can't remember where it was, exactly, but I suspect a lot of dragons live in similar conditions." He fell silent, eyes glazing slightly as he pondered at his own lack of memory on such an easy topic. The trance was broken as Mrs. Van de Burg approached again.
"Lady Van de Burg," he greeted, smiling faintly. "Ah.. yes. I am quite the meat eater," he laughed, nodding absently. "My apologies to Miss Invidia if I offend ger tastes for being as such," he idled after a moment, bowing to the banshee once more.

"I am fine. It does not bother me. I just eat like Wendell. I show Try the TV." She pointed to the box.
"Very good dear! I'm sure as a dragon he likes that! I'll go start getting lunch started. I'm going to make a lovely stew for Try and some sandwiches for little Envy." She chirped happily at the two as she patted them on the head then headed for the kitchen.
"She like to cook. If you want, she teach you how. She teach me to cook." Envy floated over to the book shelf and pulled out a children's cookbook. She showed him the easy recipes that they could both make without using the stove.

"To cook, hm?" He blinked, moving to study the pages curiously. "I think I would like that very much," he agreed after a moment of seemingly intense thought. "It would be rather.. irritating not to be able to fend for myself as I grow in this realm." He wasn't sure he could even breath fire until he had a lot of his lungs back, and "preparing" his own food without that would be out of the question. He'd simply have to learn to use the human's tools. "Have you learned a lot from her, Miss Invidia?"

Invidia nodded gently, her dark hair swaying back and forth. "She teach me manners. She teach me to cook. She teach me how to make food better with dry plants."
Spices were one of Invidia's favorite things to play with. They made the normally bland veggies she ate taste very nice. Invidia took the dragon's hand and floated towards the kitchen were Mrs. V was bustling about. There were some platters with small things to each on them.
"Ah hello dear! Would you two be good little helpers and take those trays down to the main table?"
Invidia nodded and took one then waited for Try to take the other. Downstairs in the parlor she showed the dragon where to set the trays, near the punch bowl. It was rather cold in here, flowers were arranged around a large table as well as pictures of an older man. "That is where the dead man will be. When his family comes, he will be placed there so they can say goodbye. He was a nice man. He told me a nice story."

Humans were strange creatures, the dragon noted again as he set the tray where he was dictated. "So they can see him?" He mumbled, frowning slightly and lifting his eyes to study the flowers. "..Humans are a bit morbid, aren't they?" He mused, chuckling faintly and tilting his head to the side in thought. Or was it a natural thing - to celebrate one's own mortality by attending a viewing of a body? A stark reminder that one day, all of them would be lying amidst the flowers with a photograph of themselves displaying who they'd been when a soul had still flickered behind their eyes.
