Say a prayer for my work computer this weekend. I was finishing up some stuff on it this afternoon about an hour before I was supposed to head out, when a thunderstorm started brewing outside. I felt tempted to shut off the computer, but I didn't want my boss to get mad at me for quitting early, and I figured it was an office building so there had to be some sort of surge protection.
Well, sure enough, the power flashed and caused my computer to shut off. And when I booted up again, it wouldn't start up windows for me. gonk I couldn't even get it into the safe mode, so yeah...it's not looking good. My boss is gonna take a look at it tomorrow, but he didn't sound too positive about it over the phone.
I have over a year's worth of work on there, and nothing has been backed up since December. The only stuff I could probably recover is the recent site files that's in our repository. But if the computer has to start from scratch, I'd lose all my original flash and photoshop files for work.
I need a hug and a large alcoholic beverage. crying

Oh that sucks! gonk I do hope your computer gets fixed and everything is fine.
This is the 2nd time someone I know has had work-related stuff deleted. My fellow Board member had her car broken into and her phoe with sensitive information got stolen with TONS of work that she need on it. sad

Aww, poor girl. Honestly though, I wouldn't mind if someone broke into and stole my car. It's a piece of crap that needs to be replaced.

Just an update on things, my hard drive from my work computer is currently being worked on by some computer people. I have no idea who my boss hired, but I pray they are able to retrieve my work off the hard drive. Until then, I've been doing the best I can with whatever files were saved on our data repository. And I had to redo a few too, including a flash file. xp
Not sure when or if I'll get the stuff off the hard drive, but I hope soon.
