Ahh the fun post.

If you are a role player (or someone that wants to be a role player) But don't know how, or aren't very good: Fear not. If you want instruction in how to role play this is the place to ask. Any questions not covered in the subsequent post should be PMed to either Sunshine-sama or Destinys Blossom, and one of us shall post the anwser for you. Try not to ask the questions in the post itself as it will get cumbersome to keep track of where the answers are. Thank you for your cooperation.

When role playing you are taking on the mind set of a person whom you are not in real life. It is a third person way of telling a story, except you are speaking about only one persons point of view. That's the general idea.

When role playing it should be made a point to describe everything in the scene that you are acting out. Everything being how your character sees and area, how they feel, as well as responding to what the other person says. For example the line "It was dark out and (insert character name here) was walking down the street." could be made into something more along the lines of this: "The dark sky loomed over head showing signs of (insert weather here). (Character) walked down the (insert temp), (insert how crowded the area is), (insert area name here)." This in itself will length your post and allow others around you to get into the post more.

The next thing to do is describe your character's appearance to the outside world. This can be a dark out ward appearance or a brighter one. or anything in between. An example of this is: (Character) was dressed in black and had dark eyes." This is not what makes a good post. Describe the clothes themselves. Another note that should be made is that the name and the appearance should match. A person with a name like "Dusk" wouldn't be seen as a happy-go-lucky- person. The name itself means a time when the sun is setting, so a darker personality is to be expected. The name "Dawn" is more of an opposite of "Dusk" so the personality would be expected to be much more happy. These are general guidelines and can be changed, but are good things to start with until you gain enough experience to customize on your own.(existing Characters will be discussed later)

When responding to another person within a thread it is good to keep in mind the others profile of their character. This means that if you are just meeting the person in the post you cannot have their personality matched down. (Even if you know it) This keeps things unexpected and makes for a longer RP topic.

In Regards to existing Characters. These are people from Games/Animes. The people doing these types should do their best to keep them as close to the actual personalty as possible. All other things stated above apply.

If there are any further questions please feel free to PM me.

Further note
In an attempt to help others in regards to roleplaying further I will now show an example of what god modding is, as well as explain. (This will also appear in the sticky)

God modding is the tendency for people to, when roleplaying, say what happens to another charecter in the same post. this takes away from others ability to post in their own way and add to the role play in question.

"Eric grabbed greg and struck him on the head, knocking him out. Carrying him up to a room, he removed all of his knives, and waited as greg opened his eyes hours later."
This above is more of an extreme example of god modding but it gets the point across. Talking to the person in real life, or through PM's you can discuss what you want them to do. To draw something out more, you can allow them to discribe what the hit is like, from their point of view. This makes for more fun in role playing. That is all.
