I figured we could start doing talkback threads for every new volume of the manga and anime that comes out.

So far, it's a blast as usual (though not all new to me, seeing as I have all the domestic anime DVDs, which are way ahead of the manga).

Minekura is a great artist, and her style really shines in these later volumes.

What are your thoughts on Vol.6?

I haven't read it yet crying ;

But it seems that for the most part the manga and the anime go pretty much exactly hand in hand. Not my favorite...

Even though I haven't read volume 6 yet, my friend told me that something happens in that volume that doesn't happen in the anime. Trust me, though, I've read fan translations of the manga and once volumes 8 and 9 come out, you'll see how different they are from the anime.

WOOT! That's what I like!

And I read volume 6 while I was sitting in Waldenbooks today, so that freed up some cash for PSoH but, hmn... it seems like I'm reading for that large chunk in the middle I missed. (Yeah, I started watching at episode 22 or something then started getting the earlier DVDs as I got closer and closer to episode 50) Okay... waaaay off topic.
I love the little quotes in the chapter header pages! ^-^

The only thing I wana know is why do they put some of Reload at the end, I've seen reload and ll but why do they have it at the end of vol.6? Is it just supposed to be a preview or something? sweatdrop

If you're wondering where the Homura arc from the anime is, it's not part of the manga. :3 After the Scorpion Lady stuff, it goes into the beginning of the Kamisama arc.

It isn't in the manga, that's why you can't find it xd

I'd watched the first 50 episodes of the anime too, and when I was reading the manga I was quite pleased that it was running pretty much hand-in-hand. But then, after the scorpion woman story they go off on completely different tangents. Although, there are a few similarities between the anime and the last 3 manga, but not many! (I read some scanalations that I discovered randomly on my computer that my sister must've put there from a previous lan xd Very exciting)

About the 6th manga - I thought it was AWESOME. Not just because I love the ones where Goku loses his limiter, but because - well... umm... I just love the artwork more than the anime. It looks so beautiful and has more feeling and can saying more with one frame than a few minutes in the anime. And also, I enjoyed it because it had a new plot element (with the child demon at the end) that I hadn't seen previously in the anime.

It isn't Reload at the end of volume six, rather the anime of Reload contains the last volumes of Gensomaden. Weird, I know ^^'

Minekura wrote nine volumes of Gensomaden Saiyuki, and then began writing Saiyuki Reload. However, when they decided to make an anime version of Saiyuki, not all nine volumes of the manga had been written, so they followed along with the manga until they caught up with where Minekura was in writing the manga, and then just created the Homura arc for lack of any material. Once Minekura was done with her Gensomaden manga, the animators started Reload, but used the material from the rest of the Gensomaden manga before moving on to the actual Reload manga. Of course, by the time the animators had to end Reload, the Reload manga wasn't complete, so they had to create another series, Gunlock, to fill in the fans with the rest of the Reload manga. Only they never did finish covering the Reload manga as it's still in the works. So another Saiyuki series may be on the way.

Phew. Did that confuse you? It would confuse me XD;
