Okay, here is the pitch. I would like to host a card creation contest where the contestants are given assignments and must create original cards. Each contest will run in rounds (I would like this to be similar to the one on MTG Salvation, so 3 rounds and then winners will be announced the last week of the month). For this I would like a couple of other people for judging as well as 4-12 people to participate. If you are interested in either let me know. I plan on awarding gaia gold as the prize as long as this actually goes somewhere.
I have been looking at the card creation thread and it seems like there are quite a few creative folks on here. I would allow any of the cards there assuming you are the original creator to be used in the contest assuming they fit the particular assignment.
Judges will recieve Gaia Gold as well for assisting in the duty of judging. (I will announce the judge/prize amounts once i figure out how much i can afford to hand out biggrin ).

Could you go more in depth with your description of the contest please? I'm not exactly sure how it is you want us to go about doing this. But, clear that up for me and I'll be happy to participate.

This is an example of how it would work. I would say: "This week make a red creature with a non-red ability that is flavorful. Make it 'rare' quality (so either totally unplayable or amazing would be fine here....im looking at you deep-slumber titan). Basically you would all be assigned a group design challenge, whoever delivers a card that fits the criteria the best wins that week. At the end of each month a winner will be decided.
The scoring criteria would be something like this:
Bonus: (x/5): Judge how the card fits the bonus parameters.
Balance: (x/10): Judge how the card is balanced; its power level, and whether or not it could make or break a format.
Flavour/Creativity/Quality: (x/10): Judge how flavourful, cool, and well-worded the card is. Basically, this is the "slickness" category.

You would receive the scores based on an average of the 3 judges scores. Still unsure of the gold rewards but i will try to make it worthwhile for both players and judges.
Plain and simple. I say make something, you guys try to give something awesome. To be honest this is going to run like the FCC contest on MTGSalvation.com.
Also I ask that the judges include a small reason why they gave the scores, it allows others to see more clearly what is sought after.

I used to partake in a card creation in my old forums site I went to (The Zone if anyone knows of it, which is dead now) so I am willing to partake in this creation contest without a doubt. biggrin
