Mafunde couldn't believe the day he was having. He had had enough babysitting jobs. Sure he did love the new additions to his family, but he needed a day to himself. He needed time to think and right when he thought he was out of the clear, he had three cubs dropped onto him.
As the easily distracted cheetah tried to clear his thoughts of the laughing and giggling, he suddenly saw his way out. He spotted his younger brother, orange mane easy to spot in the distance. As he pointed him to the cubs and they dashed for him, Mafu quickly fled. Any direction was good, as long as he was out of sight from his siblings, and their children.
With his back to his family, he ran as fast as he could. Feeling the wind through his fur made everything suddenly go away. Suddenly the recent events that had taken place were erased from his mind. He felt like a cub again, all of his worries gone.

Kohana had no worries in life, she hunted when she felt the stirrings of hunger, she avoided others with her speed, and she had no ties to any family. She had always been alone and felt no pangs of loneliness that would incline her to change such a habit.
The creme spotted female dashed across the yellowed grass that provided her with a perfect cover, it was usually only a flash of her brilliant green eyes that gave her away. Finally with a shake of her head she halted her wild run, nothing beat the feeling of racing the wind.
Her ears perked and swiveled as she detected something approaching...something fast. With a cocky grin she lifted her head high and spotted another of her kind in the distance. He was coming fast though, she gave a little stretch and prepared herself, as he moved closer she shot off and ran alongside him a race the poor guy didn't even know he was participating in.

He felt his years slide off him as he ran. And suddenly, he was in his adolescent years. Free from any troubles, just on the brink of becoming a full fledge adult. Back when he traveled the world with his troop, performing his tumble routines with his sister, both their speed and agility at it's peak.
Suddenly, Mafu heard paws beside him, as soft as his speeding through the grass. He opened his slate gray eyes and looked over to see a pair green ones staring right back at him. A wide smile crept across his face as he leapt into the air, "Whoo hoo!!" He called as he landed back on the earth and continued to speed towards their destination. Where that was he had no idea.

Kohana held back a chuckle as the male moving beside her let out a whoop, he was as carefree as she was! That suited her perfectly, she moved her head low and put on a burst of speed. With her slim frame she managed to pull ahead just enough to make a sharp turn.
The slick female hunkered down to trip him, to test his brakes sort to speak. She could already taste the laughter in her mouth of seeing him go flying over her.

He kept his eyes straight ahead, squinting a little from the rush of air blowing into his eyes. When he saw her suddenly in front of him, instinct took over as he built up strength in his hind legs and leapt into the air.
His body twisted and twirled as he looked down to her. When he landed, he was on her other side, looking down to her, a smile still on his face. "Holy smokes..." He said a little out of breath, "That was awesome..." He painted, didn't catching her cruel intention.

Kohana laughed out loud and rolled over before springing to her feet and gazing at him her eyes wide with appreciation for his quick move.
"That was pretty neat, most just trip right over my back." She giggled and dipped her head. "I am Kohana!" She announced herself with pride, despite her lack of family or friends, she was confident in herself.
The spotted female sat down and inhaled the fresh air appreciating all the wonderful scents it carried with it. She could feel her lungs taking in the precious oxygen that allowed her such joyful bursts of speed, of freedom!

He matched her giggle with a laugh of his own, "Well, I'm not like most others." He said with a chuckle. He was suddenly surprised by the formal greeting thinking that was what adults used. He shrugged it off and held his head high, his chest puffing out a little.
"I'm Mafu." He said, not feeling like giving his full name. Mafunde was too much of a mouthful. He got tired of saying it after a while. "Your pretty fast." he added, eyeing the cheetah again, memorizing her features. Her yellow coat, her spots only covering the top half of her body. Her dazzling green eyes. He wanted to make sure he knew who she was in case they bumped into each other in the near future.

She gave a slight scowl "Pretty fast? I'm the fastest thing on four legs!" She smirked after her statement regaining her cocky attitude. "but thanks." She added with a coy smile.
"Mafu huh? Your from around here? I just breezed into this area." She looked around her bright eyes scanning the terrain with mild interest. The truth was very little could hold her attention for very long, she just didn't much care.

He snickered a little at her comment, and decided it'd be best not to butt in and get into a fight. He looked around and shook his head softly at her question, "Nah, I'm not one to really stay in one place for too long. Ever since I was little I traveled wherever the wind took me." He left out the old family he traveled with, it would only make him remember more.
He sat down on his haunches, his legs burned a little from the stunt he pulled. Something so quick and powerful like that burned him out. Especially if he didn't stretch prior. He winced a little as he stretched his hind legs out beside him.

She stood and walked over to him leaning to open her mouth over his hind legs her warm breath trailing over them. "Sore?" She grinned and shook her head sitting back down this time beside him.
"I run everywhere, all the time, when I was a cub it hurt, I learned the heat helps." She tensed "And no cold dips in a river after a long run, almost got dragged under when my legs seized up." She hissed softly.

He winced a little as he shifted his weight. "Yeah..." he hissed and chuckled lightly. "Guess I need to start practicing again." He said as he watched her sit beside him. "I haven't done anything like that since I was a cub." He said as he slowly walked his front paws out, lying down softly in the grass.
He looked up to her and chuckled. "Been there, done that. Only I was in a small pond." He smirked up to her, "Wouldn't want it to happen in a river though. Either you have a lot of strength, or it was a shallow river. I could hardly keep my head above still water."

"I fought it, had to stay laying down for a few days by that blasted river too, but I'm still here!" She smirked and help her head up proudly. What she had faced growing up alone, problems great or small were only now looked back on as minor inconveniences. The trouble with Kohana was her inability to value a moment, a friend, a place. Like wind or water she flowed unheeding of her surroundings or that which she touched.
Her green eyes even now darted around loosing focus on the male and looking for a new diversion.

"I can see that." He said as he smiled and stretched out. "So what do you normally do during the day besides run?" He laughed. He saw by the way she acted that running was all she really did. So he decided to play his own little trick and throw her a curve ball. Give the female something to think about.
As he waited for her answer, he thought he'd get started on grooming as he licked his paw.

Kohana looked at him startled from her gazing, she tilted her head and tried to understand his question. "What do you mean? I...I..." She froze again a moment before looking at him closer.
How perplexing he was, what did he care about what she did? She was just a stranger! Strangers didn't care about each other. Of course...she was a stranger to everyone, she frowned as she realized what that meant, did no one care for her either? She looked at him and tried to come up with some kind of response. "Well...I run in the mornings, and then I have a little hunt...and I uhh travel..." Not that travel didn't just mean running.
"And...at night I sleep...I swim! I Swim a lot!" She added as if trying to prove her life was not meaningless.

Mafu couldn't help but laugh. He rolled over onto his back and flailed out his legs. When he could catch his breath he looked back up to her, "So in a nutshell, not a whole lot?" He smiled and sat back up, nudging her lightly with his shoulder, "Come on. There has to be something else. A family? Parents? Siblings?" He looked up to the sky, "Something to keep your mind occupied."
