Discussion between one of my coworkers and my DM...
CW: So, *****, WHEN am I getting my PSN cards? DM: December. CW: Wait...HOW do you have such a finite date? DM: The PSN cards will come out when Sony starts charging for online play.
I take this conversation/information with a HUGE grain of salt, but Sony fanboys might have to bite an even bigger bullet in five months' time...

Lol wut?
Why? Sony doesn't need to charge for PSN. Just charge for the rest. They make this move, I'm done with them. No way, I'm paying for the PSN. If anything charge for the use of Home and extra features.

Like I said...HUGE block of salt...
And I could see Home being the only service charged for. The real thing here is that IF Sony chooses to charge, CAN they offer something to compensate for it?

Probably not, the PSN is not well that refined to the 360s network. Basically the PSN is just like it, the difference is the PSN is still behind catching up to the Live Service. Granted the PSN doesn't have ads but it offers a basic while good service.
They could charge for Premium accounts though.

GOD_OF_DEATH_RYUK we already have psn cards where i live Shenanigans? I'd believe you if I could find a listing on eBay or Amazon. I know plenty of people who would buy those like crack. EDIT @ Drinky: I said massive grain of salt, but this is a rumor, and it's not like it's coming from some completely unreliable source. Our DMs/SMs get the lowdown on stuff before a lot of people in retail so that they HAVE the info. I don't know if I trust my DM 100%, but his confidence on the matter is frightening.

There is ONE for Japanese cards, WITH cards, but everything else just seems like an easy way to make money off of people who don't like to use their credit card number online.

My issue is that sources like Kotaku, Joystiq, IGN, Gamestop and others have not even made any kind of acknowledgment towards this rumor. Credible, reliable, and widely recognized sources. The folk who posted on the 60GB PS3 price drop long before Sony even hinted at it. Why would Sony allow this kind of information to leak to a ******** Gamestop GM? Despite what you might think, It's not imperatively important for retailers to get "inside information". It's just how people like Gamestop want to advertise themselves, they pull in business because they are supposedly THE Gaming authority. It's just like how Best Buy advertises their Geek Squad to be able to fix ******** everything. So come on dude, you should know this better than anyone.

Every year, every single store manager in the country is sent to "Conference", which is basically an E3/TGS for Gamestop managers to know the ins and outs of the gaming industry, including hands-on demos of all the holiday crap coming out. I don't want to sound like the bigheaded jerk, but Gamestop IS a gaming authority because corporate make them that way.

I'm confused.
Will we still be able to access the PSN store, but have to pay to play online (i.e. 360)?
