i put this thread in here because when i first saw it, it was so unusual to see in a ferret, i seriously thought something was wrong with sunfire... he was sleeping and it just seemed odd. redface so i wanted to let others know that it's true and perfectly healthy.....

for your ferret to wag their tail like a dog.

it sounds crazy and it's rare from what i hear.

out of the 6 ferrets i've ever had, only Sunfire has ever been able to do this. none of the other ferrets so much as twitched their tails.

it's not graceful like a cat tail wag at all. it's quick and excited just like a dog wagging his tail. i can't compare tail wagging to anything other then sunfire because he's the only ferret i've seen in person. ferrets might have different speeds. maybe it's just him being not so graceful. lol.

tail wagging normally seems to happen when sunfire is asleep or groggy (like i just picked him up from napping). but i have seen him wag his tail when going through a see through tunnel.

it's perfectly normal! it means your ferret is EXTREMELY happy. so enjoy the tail wag! sometimes it's so quick, it's easy to doubt yourself. :3

video footage!
i haven't been able to catch my ferret on video yet, yay for youtube!

I've seen Ollie and Izzie both wag their tails while playing. Usually it's when they're in their tube. 3nodding

Dang X'D Both of my bebes wag their's. It's usually when their in their tube too. But there was this one instance that Nora, my albino, was so utterly fascinated with what was "unknown" to her on the other side of a closed bedroom door. My cat had been sticking her paw through the crack at the bottom and spooked Nora to the point of tail wagging X'D
