AIM RP || Azula & Kadogo'moto

He snarled, in no fit mood to be bothered with anyone today. His day had started off bad and it was likely to end bad. He'd made the mistake of seeing his mother that morning, and from there it went no where but downhill. He'd been distant and standoffish with Ilahle and he knew it. He'd have to apologize later but at the time he was too angry and worked up yet still, and wisely left for a walk to calm down instead.
Uuo was still on patrol as he headed towards the oasis. They knew that the oasis was likely a dangerous middle grounds, but it was also the one place that he could get away from it all for a little while, and maybe a little skirmish would do his frustration good.
Heavy paws made impacts on the shifting sands much harder than they normally would, but in the end it didn't matter since the winds were greedy and eager to wipe away all traces of his path just seconds later.

The Oasis was beautiful that day, but Azula didn't care. Her current disaffected mood had begun to extend to everything, even the careful and methodical beating she normally dealt to her sister's little slave-boy. She just didn't seem to have the heart for most anything these days. When her 'turn' at guard duty was up (though she hadn't had to take a duty at all, she'd still insisted upon one), she'd gone tramping off into the "badlands." More and more she didn't feel as if she were welcome among the traditionals, though i tmay have been more something her mind created than anything based in fact.
The female was now sprawled out in the Oasis, looking up at the canopy arched above. It was odd to have such a place in the desert.. so... so very different from the sand and rocks she was used to. The difference was both annoying and welcome, somehow; but no more annoying than the sound of paws approaching from the western side. Her ears perked and back tensed, and the female rolled to her side so that she wouldn't be totally exposed when the stranger came--there wasn't time to do more than that, really.

Kadogo'moto broke through the plantlife just as Azula had gotten to her side, and he stopped abruptly to stare down at the female with a strangely placid look on his face, as if he'd just woken up and was debating if she was a figment of his dreaming imagination or not. It didn't last though. His eyes narrowed, though he made no move to attack, and he came to a more relaxed posture than the mid-step he'd been frozen in.
"Great. You again." Another Azula, though this one at least he didn't feel like killing on sight every time he looked at her. This one, with all her verbal barbs, could never hurt him as deeply as his own mother had, and therefore could never make him as angry as the scarred lioness. Their mothers had fought one another, and as Azula still carried the scars to prove, so Aza would also, he was sure, not that he cared a lick about either.
A snort ripped its way through Azula's muzzle and she favoured him with a look that could have withered a cactus, "I could say the same for you." Her instincts screamed for her to get up and get away, but she ignored them in favour of seeming aloof. "You don't have any claim to this land, Traitor, you can't kick me out of here."
"I wouldn't waste my time trying. It's not like you actually bother me anyway." No, he snorted back ignoring the scorch of her eyes as he moved towards the water to have a drink, lapping up it's liquids into a grateful mouth. That would mean that she was a threat in some way, and frankly he just didn't see her that way. The worst she could do to him, in his opinion, was call her beaten pride to try to drive him out, and he rather doubted she'd do something like that. No, he doubted she'd manage to seriously hurt him, maybe a bit arrogant in that line of thinking that he was more a danger to her than the other way around.
"Glad to know I'm of no worry," She muttered, sting in her voice though it didn't quite hit its mark... hell, she doubted it had a mark. But since he seemed inclined to ignore her--a fact Azula was both grateful for and annoyed by--she thought it best to do the same. Rather than face him, she turned her head away and settled it upon her paws. Her eyes twisted back as best they could go, trying to listen in case he decided to strike at her back, but otherwise she paid no other attention to him.
Once he'd quenched his thirst Kadogo made a seat for himself by the watering hole, eyes boring into her back. It always surprised him when he saw her to see how she'd grown. He wasn't that much bigger when they first met, but he still saw her as a tiny little thing compared to him, and that wasn't so much the case now anymore. She was growing into her bloodline, coat of flame and brimstone and all.
He continued to stare, not caring if it was rude.
"If you're going to stare," The female growled impatiently after the silence between them had gone on for some time, "You may as well open that maw of yours as well."
Her green eyes flicked back towards him, head moving imperceptibly to the side that she might see him to confirm with her own eyes what the prickles on the back of her neck had given thought to. Yes, he'd been staring at her, though it was liable that he would try to deny it now that she'd called him upon it. Why stare at her?
The question was an odd one, for though beautiful in her own mind she'd received little attention in such matters. of course, she was also related to most every male she knew. It never occurred to her that this one might be admiring her, however. He was a traitor, and his hatred of her ran as deeply as hers for him, or so she thought.
"How's that saying go? If you haven't anything kind to say...?" He replied cooly, not denying that he'd been staring at all, though that was a lie. He could think of nice things to say, but he shouldn't be caught alive saying them or he'd soon be dead, thusly unable to speak those words anymore. "You miss the sound of my voice that much, princess?" He questioned, continuing to stare, just now at her eyes, or what of them he could see. He wasn't so tasteless that he'd continue admiring the body while the eyes were boring into him.
"Hardly. Its nasal and hard, and quite remnisant of a vulture gagging on week old rabbit." Azula got up and turned around to face him, rather than allowing him to go out of her sight much longer. She sat down again, though, practically in the same spot, and continued to eye him. "but saying rude things is far less rude, as a whole, than staring. I'd have thought your mother, tasteless, traitorous coward that she is, may have taught you some manners."
"That b***h was hardly concerned with teaching manners..." He smirked, not at all caring about the insults slung at the bane of his existence. "Certainly you're the last person I'd need to spare them for, though, and I'm sure you feel the same way towards me. Or am I wrong in thinking that you wouldn't dare waste the effort of showing any courtesy towards a tasteless, traitorous coward such as we rebels?" He grinned darkly, waiting to hear how she'd respond to his response with eager ears.
"Courtesy, no, but manners aren't always for those about you," She sniffed, lifting her nose haughtily. "Traitorous and cowardly you may be, but I had hoped that your kind might still find some room for civility. Oh well, I can't say I'm terribly disappointed in that."
Perhaps it was gratitude that made him do what he did next, because she had succeeded in taking his mind off of his mother and the argument with his mate, but he did it anyway. He bowed, dramatically of course, but a bow none the less, with a rumbling tone. "My apologies your highness."
Straightening back out again, he snerked at the haughty look about her. She was smaller and at an-- as far as anyone could tell by looks alone at least --disadvantage, but she still carried herself as confident as a rattler or king cobra facing off against it's larger foe.
"Much better," Azula replied with a smirk that actually carried some humor in it which wasn't ill wrought. "You're forgiven, but I may not be so kind the next time."
"I would expect nothing less, princess." Kadogo replied with a short but heartfelt laugh, the first one in a few days. Afterwards he took a calming breath, taking in the blissful silence that came when he wasn't surrounded by the goings on of the pride, their sparring and training.
The laugh was unexpected, but she joined in if a little crisply. There was a sudden moment of peace, even afterward, as if something had... changed. It had, but some instinct warned her that thinking on it too much would only revert it back to the way it had been, so she dropped that line of thought.. for now. "Yes... well... even royalty must bend now and again," She replied softly, eyes moving off in the direction of her 'new' homeland. It still didn't feel that way, though that was likely underscored by the fact that she spent as little time there as possible.
For a few moments they had fallen into companionable silence, with him sitting there by the water's edge. His eyes glanced towards it's reflective surface and he hid a grin. Why not take advantage of the light mood?
As casually as possible he leaned over, as though to take another drink, but this time splashed his paw through it towards where Azula sat.

The water splashed onto her, an unaccustomed feeling for one raised in the desert, and Azula's eyes opened wide. She tensed, but did not jump, and stayed still for a long moment afterward as she tried to figure out what had happened. When she did, she answered him with a glare. "Peasant!" She snapped, but the old edge wasn't in her voice any longer. She shrunk against the sand, as if to pounce him, but quickly pawed the water herself, sending spray back towards him.
For a few seconds Kadogo thought that he had genuinely upset the princess, but if he did he showed it rather poorly, by the blank stare he gav back for her glare. When finally she snapped and retaliated he DID jump. In surprise. Stepping back and giving his head a shake it was Kadogo's turn to look surprised as he quickly processed the turnabout that had just occured, face dripping wet.
The following response was a deep growl, and equally lacking words-- "That means war, brat!"
He swept a paw with a larger swipe this time, aiming to soak more of her, and if that didn't work, maybe he could share his soaked fore arm's moisture first hand instead, or maybe a big sloppy "kiss".
She jumped out of the way, the water splashing only against dirt and her tail. The female may have been smaller than him, for she was younger by a few moons, but she was definitely faster. Thus the benefit of size.
Azula's chin lifted proudly, eyes glimmering of humor and they narrowed playfully. "A little slow for that, are you not, old man?"
She didn't allow herself to think about the fact that she was playing with a traitor, a rebel. No. Now she was just Azula, and he just Kadogo; children of the sun playing in their Goddess's great gift.
The lioness dashed towards the water, intent on making another jab at splashing him.
Kadogo, who, for the life of him had never had the opportunity to play as a cub until he met Ilahle at near adolescence, was greatly enjoying himself-- perhaps too much --but he wouldn't stop now. His expression shifted to match hers all on his own accord at her taunt. "Old?? I'll show you old, cub."
When Azula made her dash for the pool Kadogo lunged for her, aiming to capture her between his fore paws, but unintentionally losing his balance in the process, tipping them towards the water together.
He blundered into her, and they were soaked. Normally this would have pissed her off, but she hadn't the emotional capacity for it. Azula had never played like this, not even with her siblings. It was always kill or be killed, even with them, never... teasing fun. She managed to get free of him once they were in the water, and drug herself back to the shore. Her fur was everywhere, and she was soaked, but she laughed anyway and shook herself. "A cub, maybe, but better that than a clumsy fool."
Kadogo would have been irritated because of his own embarassing mishap, but his spirits were too light to care. He spat a bit of water back into the pool with a fountain like motion, shaking out as he stood in the shallow water and waded back to shore as well, eyes hidden under a wild mess of coal black, damp mane.
"Hey, that air came out of NO where." He muttered jovially, shaking out a paw to try to slick back some fur from his eyes so he could glance at the female, and felt a small smirk tweak one corner of his maw. So maybe she wasn't so bad as he first thought on their first meeting, and not as totally aggravating as their second. He'd have trouble saying it aloud though, so one had to hope that their actions spoke loud enough for the time. It seemed so stupid to be on opposite sides, but they had differing views on a fix for the Firekin's plight, and for him, still unknown to anyone else but Ilahle, and some of his immediate family-- and some of the rebels but not many-- it was a difference of living free or dying for him as well. He had the blood of an outsider god. It was for sure he'd never be accepted by the traditionalists anyway in that regard.
Still, he finally began to see past the fierce dedication, and he saw someone not unlike himself.
"Air or a slippery paw," She teased in return, smirking, and turned her head to lick her fur back into place down her back. The Lady was taking measures not to think about what was going on here, and she was proud of her ability to do so. "That's what you get, you know, raising a paw to a lady. the nerve!"
Laughing, Azula stood again and gave a stretch. "The Devil are you, I'm certain. Sent to curse an innocent lass such as myself. Lucky for me you've tripped upon your own paws."
