A couple things. First, I've looked at the Language Construction Kit, but it didn't really help me all that much. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on making sure that my conlang doesn't become a cipher of English?

Second, can anybody direct me to or give me a good list of diacritics that also explains their pronunciations simply?

Lastly, does anyone know how I can map my keyboard so I can easily access some of said diacritics without all that "ALT+18384" nonsense?

If any of these topics have already been discussed elsewhere in the guild, I apologize.

For the non-English cypher thing: I just majorly screw up my grammar in my conlangs. Switch around word order, use postpositions instead of prepositions, and just generally make it NOT like English. But that's just me. If you're talking about not making your vocab too Englishy then I suggest making sure your alphabet doesn't directly correspond with the English one, and borrow roots from languages other than English (Like... French or Japanese or something.) I'd also suggest coming up with derivatives from your previous conlang vocabulary instead of trying to derive something from what you borrow.

I dunno about the pronunciation thing. Maybe someone else will have a good answer, but the "alt-blahblahblah" I've found is the easiest way for me to access the diacriticals. Unless you really wanna change your whole keyboard layout. (Which I've heard is possible, but don't hold me to that, I'm not very computer-savvy) =/
