How many of you believe in them? How many of you are one? If you are one, what was your awakening like?
For those who don't know what it is: Otherkin are people who were once a mythological creature or are know a mythological creature along with being a human or are a mythological creature stuck in a human's body. A therian is relativly the same, just with one small difference: They believe they were once an Earthly animal ((like a wolf)) or is now an Earthly animal that is stuck in a human body. Also, therians and otherkin may also believe that there soul is literally these animals.
An awakening is what we go to to figure out who we are and our true nature. It usually starts in the middle of teenage years and can last up to a lifetime for we are constantly finding new things about ourselves.
Note: Vampires do not fall into this category. They have their own thing going on.
My story: I was awakened in the middle of high school. At first I believed myself to be a wood elf, but that really didn't fit with my thought process. Later I found out I was a dark elf. My name was the first thing to come to me: Milendil. I had so much help in figuring out who I was from Sengem and Areleklo ((both] names are the names that they use on Gaia)). Sengem first contacted me saying he believed me to be an elf. He and I created a past life memory ((which was actually just us making stuff up)) about me being a queen and he being my past son. The only thing that turned out to be true, was the queen part. But not the way we imagined it. I was put into my royal family by Aphrodite who was my real mother. I dunno why she let the royal family have me instead of her. But that was one life. Those memories are my clearest, from that life. I have other memories from other elf lives, and one other human life. I don't remember how they came to me. I am still awakening for I am still learning.
Once I thought I was a wolf, but then realized that wasn't right. So now I am either thinking that I was a vampire in a past life ((yes, like Lestat for I believe in the movie/book kind; I just believe they exist on another plane)) or that I have a wolf as a spirit guardian.

That sounds so cool.
I'm not sure what otherkin I am yet, but I've been studying the whole thing for a few weeks now.
Though I'm thinking that I might be somesort of ware animal, like a ware wolf or something like that.

*raises a tail* dragonkin. i don't dwell to much on my status as otherkin though. no sense in dwelling on the past that much. I do know most of my lives were spent as a dragon, and in twilight realms. colour mostly the same as the blue on my avi. non the less nice to see i'm not the only kin in the guild smile

this is the 1st i've heard of this, well i have heard of past lifes and other things like that. but this seems totally possible, i'm just entering high school so idk yet lol but i would love 2 learn more about this

Um, no. First off, I don't even believe in a "source." Second off, magick does not fall under science. Third, dragons have only been theriozed to have existed. There is some evidence o show they were once here, but that is not enough (but I don't need evidence. I have faith and the knowledge of what I once was). Fourth, I believe that the mythological beings are on another plane so of course you wouldn't find any evidence.

ok this what i think
1. souls r souls, life energy and a body is a vesal for the soul so it doesn't matter what soul goes in what body.
2. 'the source' might b another plane where all souls reside b4 they get a new body and all their memories r supressed into the deep subconcess thats why it takes along time for them to resurface.
3. Magic is Magic! Yes you can discribe it with science but it acts on it's own, magic can do anything if done by the right master.
4.I belive all mythical creaters and proven animals (inculdeing humans) r all on differnt planes taht overlap one another so thats why some can b seen in this plane.

that would work panda but the planes (when compaired to other planes) are easyer to think of as parell lines never to connect to each other
when you think of a plane as a singiler there more of a circle but even still it would look more like this

how ever it is possible for some mythical beings to make it so that they are a fraction of a second or so off from our time line this would more or less make it so that we would never be able to see or feel them
and panda if magic can do anything if some one had the power and skill to do it lets say i had the power and skill to make it so the world its self never exsited if i made the world not exsist then i was never there to do that this would loop now one thing magic cant do is get out of a paradox if magic cant do this then there are bound to be other things that magic cant do.

Ya know, your beliefs are different from mine. I don't agree with a lot of the things you have said.
1. I don't believe in soft polytheism. I'm a hard polytheist. And, Aphrodite has never clued me into her and every other god/goddess being this supposed "source."
2. I have never heard of these concepts before.
3. In science I believe all the "rules" are just theories. And I believe that magick used to be completely different in the days before Christianity and is completely different on the other planes. I should know.
Give me one set of "rules" that magick abides by. Honestly, I don't believe in these "rules."
4a. Why can human souls not reincarnate into other creatures? That makes no sense. Souls are souls, just like Panda said. No one can put one label on a soul - to do so would be to limiting.
4b. Why would my soul be trapped on the plane I was from? I was originally from a different plane, but I died and was reincarnated in this plane. And I know that you can travel through planes, or at least you used to. I should know this too.

Magick can do anything - it's magick. Using magick, you can fly or make a spirit appear and talk to you. Anything is possible.
True, we can put rules to anything, but why do that? If you look back into ancient times where things were simpler, but way more spiritual, there were no rules. We should just feel - and live.

mike, science can't replicate magic so they have differnt rule, science however can discribe magic with energy in such which i think is evidence that they r co-egsistant and not the same.
souls r energy which i think we can all agree on and planes r physical so whats 2 say that soul energy can't pass through planes carring their deeply repressed memories with them?
each plane is differnt and might not have the same physical limitations so i think it's very possible that they could find someway to come into ours.
also for parodox's not even science can figure out a way 2 get out of, but eventually the magic energy would not b sufficent to carry out your 'distruction of the world' and u would stop at ur try to complete the spell and have it not work.

ahh panda what i wouldnt do to have you as one of my students. a brain like that could go far.
you are right right up to the paradox part every thin you said is posible right up to there
that fact that the paradox happens but then cant happen does not mean im im useing energy constantly in fact it means im not useing it at all. the end result would be that the time line i was on when i did it would stop advanceing.
