Fwwsssh…

The wind whispered through the sun-stained grass, making less of a sound and more of a motion that you could sense with your ears. It wasn’t a noise; it was simply something you’d hear rather than merely see. In this case, the wind wasn’t the only thing doing the whispering… Kanelo chose his steps carefully, trying to stay as close to the ground as possible. It wasn’t easy for a mostly-white lion to stay hidden, but he was doing the best he could. In fact, he felt he was doing a damned good job of it thus far. And his prey wasn’t too far ahead…

One red and one blue eye focused on his current prey before narrowing. Patiently, the powerful predator waited until the wind kicked up a bit more. Only then did he move on ahead, using the motion-like-noise to cover up his own slightly clumsy stalking. It wasn’t that long ago that he was chasing after bugs with Sioda, but it was about time to move things up a little.

Things were… well… changing a bit at home. The den was more crowded than ever, now that all of Kanelo’s siblings---all seven of them!----were growing up, himself included. And, if the rumors were true, then Jasiri had his own litter coming along… Kanelo shook his head at the very thought of his big brother being a father. It was hard to believe. It felt like only yesterday that the most interesting thing on earth was their mother’s tail… It was time for Kanelo to take care of himself.

His butt wiggled slightly and he surged forward, finally seeing the perfect moment to strike. It looked very impressive, but it did absolutely nothing since the jackrabbit heard him coming from a mile away. Before Kanelo had even finished his little leap, the rabbit was already running, leaving the lion with nothing more to eat than dust. Kanelo sneezed and grinned.

That had gone a lot better than the other attempts so far.

Azima, if anything, was feeling quite depressed and more than a little irritable. Roho had disappeared quite some time ago, and it had hurt the red adult very much. He was stuck in the pridelands with no one and little will to be friendly with any of the uggos he saw around, enjoying his time alone to complain much more. Still, he was trying to move on with his life and he was even thinking about returning home to his family, as much as he hated how large and obnoxious they all were.

He sighed and let his tail flick, twisting his body slightly to snap at a fly which had gotten much too close to his pretty face. Really, how would he look if some ultra-handsome male came prowling by and his face was covered in flies? That would be disgusting, actually.

He was laying on a large rock in the pridelands, just watching little animals or other prey beasts with a sense of boredom. His stomach had grumbled several times but he hadn't even attempted to hunt, he was rather poor at such matters even if his body was much sleeker than most males. He could probably run fast if he wanted to and be a good hunter if he practiced... but what was the point when you could convince people to do it for you?

Lost in his thoughts the sound of a twig snapping brought him back to reality. His head jerked up and his crimson eyes landed on a jack rabbit that was sprinting away. He turned his head and his eyes landed on a younger male- much younger. But his gaze was already drinking in the pure white pelt, the dark beginnings of a mane... Azima automatically decided this male was much prettier than what he'd termed the classic pridelander look, as Roho had been.

"Well, I see someone lacks patience." He called out in a friendly, taunting manner. Still, Azima was trying to learn that looks weren't everything... that and he really wasn't sure of how most males would react to him if he started flirting. It could go as poorly as his father finding out about him and he could probably end up being very hurt from such an encounter. Ah well, like I said, he ran fast. Besides, Azima had already decided that the white male was younger and there for more prone to manipulation and less likely to hurt him!

Although Kanelo was only vaguely aware of it, his grandmother was a goddess. It simply wasn’t something that he thought about a lot; as far as he knew, it was completely typical for grandmothers to have wings. Still, even if he only gave Mtima’Safi a passing thought, he was still her grandchild and it showed in his graceful movements. Admittedly, he would have been more graceful if he had actually caught something instead of just a puff of dust, but those were just details. At least he had looked good while trying to catch that rabbit. His tail twitched and he idly pondered chasing after the preybeast, but something else more interesting spoke up.

Another lion! Other lions were infinitely more interesting than rabbits as far as Kanelo was concerned, especially lions he hadn’t met yet. Most of those he had met, he was somehow related to. Quite a large family, there. Full of enthusiasm at the mere thought of meeting someone new, Kanelo sprinted over to the other male quickly, putting his front feet on the rock so he could look at the stranger in the eye.

“I suppose this would be my turn to make some clever quip about how you don’t have any manners… but, I’ve never been any good at those types of comments,” Kanelo said easily, not at all annoyed by the other male’s ‘taunt’. “Besides, it is true. I’ve never been good with patience. The world is too big and fascinating to spend too much time waiting around…” as if on cue, one of those flies that the red male had been fighting off so valiantly earlier, buzzed by. Kanelo’s odd eyes watched it carefully, more amused than annoyed.

Oh, right! More interesting things! He snapped his attention back to the stranger quickly enough. “By the way, I’m Kanelo. I’ve never seen you before.” Which wasn’t that strange; the Pridelands were massive and things had been so insane back at home… well, the white male simply hadn’t had a lot of chances to explore lately.

Azima was more than a little surprised when the male came so quickly toward him, and thought perhaps he was going to attack! Azima jerked back as the other's paws hit the rock and his eyes narrowed and lip curled, as if to warn him against any violence. But it had been a flight of fancy; no one was attacking him or even trying to. His expression quickly calmed and he seemed not to mind the general closeness of the other. His body relaxed and he settled his head back to where it was before, any close and their two noses might touch. His bright blue eyes stared into the younger male's mismatched beauties, his ear flicking. One was a stunning red, like his fathers, and the other a pale blue which reminded him of his own eyes as well as his mothers.

A slim brow arched as the youngster began to speak and Azima was quite taken aback by how frank he was. He rolled his eyes slightly but managed to find amusement in the other's words and chuckled softly, almost under his breath. No manners, please. Azima would say he had plenty of manners, manners that were perfect! He was amazingly beautiful and proud and such a good example of what a perfect male should be and there for however he acted resulted in flawless manners, or so that was what his twisted thinking told him. "Oh but I find you're rather amazing at them, if in a slightly round about way." Azima sneered at him, though underlaying the sneer was a general enjoyment for what was going on, a simple happiness he was able to be social with another. And such an atractive lion!

A slow smile spread onto Azima's face as the other male went on and was distracted by the fly. Ick, someone should kill that though. Flies.... only the gods knew why they were ever put on this land in the first place. It would do the lion race much more good for the blasted things to disappear completely! "Waiting is much different than being patient. Sometimes waiting does not merit a goal... patients doesn't really have to be the act of waiting." The words were said slightly bitterly, but not really aimed at the other. Azima had waited so long for Roho.... and now it seemed the waiting had prooved to be fruiteless. He pushed away the depressing thoughts and recomposed his smile, which had been slipping into a frown while thinking of his lost love.

"Kanelo." Azima repeated the name and felt it had a very good taste to it, and it easily rolled off of his tongue. He smirked, suddenly feeling very mischievous. He edged his face just a bit closer to the others, still not touching but it seemed to be only by a hair. "Kanelo~" He repeated again, with a slight purr in his voice.

After a moment he eased himself back and sat up, making room on the rock of the other so wished to join him but he made no move to actually invite him. "No, I've been rather busy in these lands up until a few sunrises ago." He said almost carelessly, trying to be as vague as possible. For one it would help him not think about that horrible male who was no longer around and for another he felt mysterious lions were sexy as hell.... of course there was no harm in being sexy regardless of who you were talking to. Especially if you were talking to someone else attractive! "In any case suddenly I've freed up a whole lot of my time but I've found the pridelands to be nothing but dreadfully boring." He said in a sour but playful manner. Even if he said such things he thought the lands were beautiful.... but would that alone be enough to keep him within the pride's boundaries?

Right, he was supposed to have given a name in return... "I am Azima. You also might have not seen me before because you are quite young and I'd imagine close to your mother's side still when I'd gotten here." He was slightly teasing the other for his age, but also hinting that he wasn't from the pridelands naturally in hopes that the other would be interested in his story... not that it was much of a story, but at least it was something to speak about.

Amazing at clever quips? This was the first time Kanelo had ever been accused of that. Most cubs who were raised with seven siblings would be at least somewhat good at making snappy retorts or, at least, be able to fling a mild insult at someone… but, the white male had never been very good at that. When insulted, he’d normally just shrug and wander off to do something else, because the world was far too fascinating to get all hung up over someone being unfluffy towards you. Hmm… the red lion was sneering at him… Kanelo pouted slightly, recalling that when someone made that face at him, it normally meant that they weren’t all that awesome. But, luckily for Kanelo’s short attention span, the other lion smiled eventually.

Yay! For a moment, the young male looked thoughtful as he mulled over the subtle differences between ‘waiting’ and ‘patience’. Behind him, his tail swished, the gray tail tuft briefly trailing in the dirt. “I dunno… they sound pretty familiar to me. ‘Patience’ is just waiting for something, right? Like that’s the definition? And waiting for nothing at all doesn’t sound very interesting. If you have to wait for something, you might as well pass the time by doing something interesting. Anyway, I’m not very good with doing either.” That much was clear, since the young lion kept shifting around, as if trying to watch everything at once. Any bird that flew overhead, any bug that caught his attention… just about everything deserved at least a moment of investigation.

Including Azima, of course. The red lion’s purr made a slight whiffling noise as it flew right over Kanelo’s head, briefly ruffling his not-yet-grown-mane. Kanelo tilted his head to one side, wondering why the red lion kept repeating his name. Then again… it was a very unusual name. Most lions had names that meant ‘strength’ or something like that. The little white lion, however, was stuck with the meaning of ‘Enough’. “…If you’re wondering about the meaning… I have seven siblings. And I’m the youngest,” he said, smiling once more. “Dad tried to name me something else, but I was used to being called Kanelo by that time. I think I’m pretty lucky; most of my siblings went through the first week of their life without any name at all beyond numbers.” Yeaaah… his family was just that interesting.

Oh, hey, the red lion was talking again! All of the ‘mysterious equals sexy’ stuff continued to go right over Kanelo’s fluffy almost-but-not-quite-mane, but that didn’t really matter. What really mattered was ‘mysterious equals interesting’! In a world full of fascinating things, Kanelo had learned early on, mysterious things were almost always the most interesting of all. As the other moved aside to make room, the younger lion clambered up onto the rock, his back claws momentarily scrabbling against stone before he managed to pull himself up.

“You’re not from the Pridelands? I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone from outside the Pridelands, except for Mom. And she doesn’t talk much about it… what’s it like?” he asked, tilting his head to one side again. He couldn’t really blame his mother for not paying much attention to his questions; she had seven other kids to look after. That, and it had never really occurred to Kanelo to ask her about it. “One of these days, I want to travel outside the Pridelands,” he continued, mulling over the idea thoughtfully. “It would be boring to stay here forever, like you said. There must be a lot of interesting things outside.”

Azima snorted slightly and shook his head, stilling thinking there must have been a difference between being patient and waiting for something. Besides, he was never wrong and even if he was it would take a hell of a lot for him to admit it. Still, he doubted Kanelo could wait for anything at all, let alone something important. Sure, Azima had only just met him but the way he looked around at anything and everything was a dead give away, and slightly annoyed Azima a little. He should have been staring at Azima. At least, Azima would sometimes imagine such things to be true and every lion would look at him for undecided amounts of time, enjoying his stunning good looks. Even if that hardly happened, it should.

Azima's eyebrows shot up. Enough, such a beautiful and delicious name meant enough? And then a very amusing thought came to Azima's mind; He probably could never get enough of Kanelo. He found himself laughing slightly, more at the idiocy of the thought than anything else. Of course, it wasn't just from how handsome the other was... he was... adorable. Simple as that, really. Very frustrating, because none of Azima's tricks were working (though he'd only ever tried anything like this on one other lion anyhow) and Azima would bet paws down he probably wasn't even interested in females lions yet, so he doubted he could trick him into being interested in himself. "So you were the child who knew no boundaries, in other words." Azima was not talking the other, he'd simply decided this on his own. His smile slowly returned to his mug and he shook his head again. Seven siblings... he was disgusted at the size of his family, and it seemed Kanelo was yet another lion he'd met with a large family. "Try having..." He seemed to stop a moment and think. "over ten siblings." He'd given up, it seemed. Some might think him horrible for not even knowing how many siblings he actually had, but he'd just reply his mother and father were horrible for popping out so many. His face blanched at the sudden thought and he prayed for it to disappear quickly.

"But I think things would probably be easier with numbers for names. The only problem then would be how common the name one would be or the possibility of several other lions having your name of eight." He said, smirking. That would, undoubtedly, be horrible. "My name means charm and I think it's rather fitting." He said, once again the purr slightly in his voice as he leaned a bit closer to Kanelo. "I can be very charming when I want to be." He stated softly, flirtatiously. Even though he knew by now the younger lion was oblivious (come to think of it... Roho had been much the same. Dense lions... sheesh..) it still didn't hurt Azima to act natural and 'charming'. Charming how he saw it, anyhow.

Azima was no where near a seasoned traveller, he had been back and forth between the Kusini lands and the Pridelands but no where else. Ever. Still, it wasn't as if he had to admit that part. "Ah... much more interesting than here." He said as he put on an 'all-knowning' voice. "I mean, the pridelands are very beautiful but so are a lot of places. I've been to confusing, thick forests that are thought to be haunted and I've seen rivers that will swallow a lion whole, if he isn't careful." He said slowly, thinking about his homelands. He tried to remember anything else about stories he'd heard of others' travels that he could use, wanting to be impressive. "I've even seen water that stretches endlessly, no land in sight!"

As Kanelo said, the world was far too big and fascinating for him to remain focused on one thing for too long. Occasionally he came across something that was amazing enough to capture his attention solidly for a while… so far, the record was a week, and that was because he discovered a series of caves when he was a juvenile. Unfortunately, when he went back to the caves after he had grown up a bit, he discovered he was too big to explore them very far… now that had been embarrassing, especially since one of his brothers, Manny, had found poor Kanelo completely stuck. At least that little embarrassment had stayed just between the brothers. That had been the first---and so far only---time that Kanelo mentioned possibly leaving the den. The first of his siblings to actually say those words out loud…

With that in mind, maybe the odd-eyed male really was the ‘wild cub’ in the litter. There’s one in every family, after all. Considering that most of his siblings inherited their mother’s extreme OCD---always with the cleaning! Always! If one of her cubs wasn’t perfectly spotless, that poor cub could expect a bath that would last two hours, at the very least---it didn’t take much to be considered the ‘wild child’. Even with all of this all figured out in his head, Kanelo still felt rather proud at being labeled such. Sitting up slightly straighter, he held his head proudly and his expression---normally a simple grin---actually took on a certain smirk-like dimension. “You could say that…” he said in what he hoped was a humble tone. It wasn’t.

It vanished soon enough at hearing how many siblings Azima had. Wow, ten? That was… that was a lot. More than seven, anyway. Either way, more important things shifted this thought out of his mind, especially as the red lion suddenly leaned closer to him and spoke in that funny tone of voice again. Was there something wrong with him? Was he sick? What was with all the leaning? Did he need someone to lean on or something? “Azima’s a good name. I like the way it sounds. Azzzzziiiiiiimmmaaa,” he said, experimentally drawing out the other lion’s name. The way he said it, the way he shifted the words around his mouth… the young lion wasn’t just saying the other’s name; he was practically tasting it. “I bet you can be charming,” he continued, apparently completely oblivious that the other was trying to be charming towards him. “You must have the lionesses swooning at your feet.”

Yep. Oblivious.

Now, the all-knowing voice was the one that caught Kanelo’s attention. That much was obvious as the younger male’s eyes suddenly snapped from the fly and looked right into Azima’s blue orbs. Behind those odd-colored eyes, Kanelo’s brain whirred happily away, trying to imagine the amazing places that the red lion had been to, the things he had seen. To a young lion who had never stepped foot out of the Pridelands, all of those things were impossible to imagine, especially the last one. Water that stretched forever and ever? Pfft… that couldn’t happen…

Kanelo laughed then. “Ah, you almost had me fooled there, Azima… almost! But water doesn’t last forever. There’s always land on the other side. And… and look!” he waved a paw as a gesture to the land around them. “See? We can see a long way from here, so long as we’re perched on this rock. If you couldn’t see the land from where you were standing, you must not’ve been high enough.” The others sounded somewhat believable. Forests and big rivers and all of that… not that Kanelo had ever really seen a forest in real life. In his mind’s eye, a forest was just a bunch of trees next to each other. Not confusing in the least!

Azima watched as Kanelo became slightly proud of knowing no boundaries, and the smirk that accompanied what he must have been feeling was adorable. Azima's tail flicked slightly and then curled around his slim limbs before he mimicked the other's expression, a smirk. "I like no boundaries." He stated in a very childish tone of voice, a playful statement. He knew it was no point with that sort of flirting, but he couldn't help but feel it was quite charming how naive the other was, how easy all of the comments went right over his head. Before Roho things like this had annoyed the hell out of him and he probably would have been gone from Kanelo's company by now... but these days he couldn't help but feel it was adorable and understandable, not everyone could be as sly as him. Or maybe he was just very lonely.

Azima purred slightly as the other complimented his name, wishing again that he perhaps wasn't so dense. Maybe if he was normal he'd have a mate and cubs by this time.... hell, he could charm the tail off any lioness he chose. Well, he wasn't interested in that anyways and he thought cubs were pretty disgusting, for the most part. Azima gave the other lion a funny look when he made a comment about lionesses swooning at his paws and for a few minutes he was stunned, perhaps the fact that even though he was mostly obvious this other was oblivious. He began to laugh at the comment though, shaking his head softly and wondering if it even deserved a comment.... well, there was not harm in letting the young male know he was interested, was there? Of course there was always the chance Kanelo would leave immediately, and Azima didn't really want that. He was a cute kid.... oh gods, he was lonely to be hanging out with, and hitting on, such younger lions. "I don't make a habit of even speaking to most females, I find them vile." He said when the laughter died down, his tone quite serious. He could put up with the females in his family, and that was only just enough to be civil. When he felt like it.

Slowly he let his body lay against the warm rock again, laying on his side. His blue gaze floated over the grasses and his tail brushed along the stone. "But I'm sure stuff like that would get a lion a mate, if he felt like it." Should he even try and find out... no... again, he doubted Kanelo was even interested in females, let alone males. "Of course, being charming is pretty useless if the other party happens to be very oblivious.." He said slowly and then started to laugh again, feeling it was just a pain in the a** to be annoyed about it. "And what about you, Kanelo? Any lucky lionesses looking for a bit of charm?" He glanced over and raised a brow, his tone and expression very teasing.

Ah, had he been caught in his lies? He carefully studied the land, looking as if he didn't care one way or the other about it. Oh... "Well I sure didn't see any land..." He glanced around when Kanelo gestured, perhaps to humor him, and rolled his eyes. "I'll just have to show you it sometime." He said, his words growing a little moody that the other didn't believe him. Which... was silly, considering he'd only heard stories himself. "Do you think I'm lying?" He said.... was he pouting? Oh Azima could be such a little drama p***k sometimes...

Alright, so Kanelo had some boundaries… he didn’t like wandering too far from home, especially after that big earthquake. It was childish to be afraid of such a thing, but the way that the ground had been moving… it terrified him, and the only thing that made him feel safe was being around his family. While he had long ago outgrew the cub’s certainty that ‘My Mommy and Daddy can beat up anyone else’s Mommy and Daddy!’, he still felt safer with his parents. And his siblings too. He trusted them, all of them. Still, since Azima was complimenting him and all, the white male decided to keep this little fact to himself. He didn’t want to seem childish, after all! This was actually the first time he had any conversation with an adult male besides his father.

Females were vile? Now that was something new. Kanelo frowned minutely at that and his ears went back just a little, taken aback by the harsh words. Vile? But… they weren’t mean or anything! Sure, they could be a little foolish, but everyone was at some point or another. For the most part, Kanelo simply found them boring, because they never seemed to want to play. Or they got bored. Or, for some reason, they simply confused Kanelo with their constant attempts to ‘get him alone so they could talk’ or something. And then they’d just stand there, as if waiting for him to do something! What rot! While he was vaguely aware that he should like females, the white lion was beginning to wonder if there was something… different about him… “Wow, is there really someone out there who is that oblivious? Wow. It’s a marvel that they can breath and walk at the same time!”

Yep. Went right over his head there, whiffling the gray beginnings of a mane as it went.

“…you know, I’m not sure I even like lionesses like that,” Kanelo admitted, scratching one ear slightly. “They just seem boring. And soppy all the time! I don’t want to sit around and talk all the time. Sure, it’s fun sometimes… but not all the time. I like actually doing stuff. And if all females are like Mom, I don’t want to deal with that.” He loved his mother and all, but she was far too hung up on being clean all the time for his tastes. Although, considering how much he was talking to Azima, it was unlikely that the other male believed him with this.

It never crossed his mind that the other might turn violent at such an admission. Once again, Kanelo’s experience with other lions was mostly limited to his family, which would, of course, love him no matter what he was. The idea of being hated for whom he loved… that had never entered the lion’s mind. He was who he was, and that shouldn’t affect others to the point of hating him. Right? Not that he had really admitted to being attracted to males yet. Oh, sure, sometimes he would catch himself admiring another male’s mane or something, but… yeah. They were fluffy!

“Nono. I don’t think you’re lying at all!” he said hurriedly, to sooth the other’s ego before he got all huffy and refused to talk to him. He didn’t want that, not when the conversation was getting interesting. “I’m just saying it seems weird. But I’d like to see it one day. I don’t want to leave the Pridelands for good, but I’d like to go traveling. Eventually. It’d be tough to tell my dad that though. He likes all of his kids to stay pretty close, you know? But I’ll have to leave someday, if only because the den is getting just a wee bit crowded.” Besides, he could hardly explore the world if he stayed here all the time.

Azima watched Kanelo's reaction carefully, head tilted slightly as he took in the ears that slipped so easily back, as if he was unsure what to say in response to such rude words. Azima hated females, that was that. The only female he could stand was his mother, and then probably family. Actually, he was friendly to females, sometimes... but he wasn't interested in them and currently didn't feel like spending his time trying to make friends with them. His feeling of loneliness was on a different level but... it wasn't as if he was about to explain it to this kid.

Azima's pouty mood slowly faded as the younger male continued to be oblivious and he just chuckled slightly, shaking his head. "I'll say." He said softly, under his breath. Still, it was a good think Kanelo could breath and walk at the same time, otherwise the handsome younger male might not be there for Azima's current entertainment, and then he'd probably be off sulking somewhere.

Azima had to look away as Kanelo said he probably didn't like lionesses in the way he was suggesting, and he felt his heart might stop. Still, the younger male was probably just confused by his meaning. His thoughts wavered fro being hopeful to moody and disappointed, but he brushed it off lightly and looked back to his new companion. He leaned forward a little and laughed. "Females are boring. But I don't think you get my point... male lions and female lions just fit together." Ah! What was he saying, this was the perfect time to sway him to his side! "But of course... males go good with males as well.. I think that pairing is less boring." He stated his words with a sly grin, but he was sure Kanelo wouldn't get it anyways. Besides... wasn't that what they were doing? Sitting around and chatting? Well maybe Azima was just much more interesting than the females Kanelo knew! Which were positive points in his book.

"Ah, do you not get along with your mother?" He raised one eyebrow and seemed to think a little. Syeira was scary, in some ways... but she was also very caring and knew how to take care of he and all of his siblings. "I don't get along with my father... I actually turn more to my mother in times of need." He smiled faintly at this, surprised that he actually missed her a little.

Azima grinned and leaned forward, much too close once again. "Good, traveling is fun and I am glad you don't find me to be a liar." He shifted and suddenly moved from the rock, stretching his lanky body. "So you said talking is boring before.... doest that mean you'd like to do something?" And even though Kanelo wouldn't notice the suggestive tone of his voice he could still let himself use it, it made him amused and such.

Male lions and female lions fit together? Well… yeah. Everyone knew that. You got a female lion and a male lion and they could make babies. Even when he was very young, Kanelo had been aware of that. Admittedly, back then he’d thought it could only happen between properly mated pairs, but he knew better now. He shifted uncomfortably, unsure of what Azima was getting at with this new sexual topic. The mechanics were… umm… pretty obvious, but that didn’t mean Kanelo was comfortable talking about it with an absolute stranger. The other male’s next words were even stranger though. Males and males going together? Kanelo blinked his strange bi-color eyes, turning the idea over in his mind.

“… Well… umm…” well, damnit. Why couldn’t he think of anything to say? Normally, words came naturally to him, even words exchanged with strange lions like Azima, but this was verging on the personal side. Even Kanelo had his limits to conversations with strangers. Now that Azima had mentioned liking that pairing more, even Kanelo was beginning to wonder about things here… was it just his imagination, or was Azima leaning just a wee bit too close there? Alright, so maybe----just maybe-----Kanelo didn’t mind the other male being that close. The only awkward part was the part where they barely knew each other.

Needless to say, he leapt onto the new topic gratefully, glad to simply get away from anything pertaining to sex or sexuality. “Nono. I love my mom. And my dad. And my family. It’s just that my mom is a real neat-freak. Everything has to be exactly in its place… bath time was a nightmare when I was just a little cub. All those hours of cleaning, hours that I could have been off having fun! Just wasted! Honestly, the way she acted, you’d think that no one had ever played in mud before…” Yeah. Kanelo had been a bit of a wild one, always doing exactly what his mother thought he shouldn’t do. If there was a set of muddy pawprints, it was easy to tell who was responsible, and not just because of Kanelo’s mud-spattered fur and suspiciously innocent looks of ‘what? Me?’.

Oh! Right! Something to do! Kanelo grinned widely and nodded. Sitting and talking was so booooring! Even if he did get to hear interesting stories of travel from another lion. That sort of thing was fun and all, but it couldn’t patch on actually moving around or doing it yourself. The suggestive tone might have made a dent in his mind, but it didn’t stay long. Why would anyone be interested in him anyway? “Let’s take a walk. I’m getting tired of just sitting around.”

Azima watched Kanelo intently as the other fell silent, unable to produce many words about the sexual topic it seemed. It was... adorable. Azima wondered if he really was confused about who he liked.... there really wasn't a point in getting his hopes up, but he often did anyways. Besides... a young lion was the best type of lion to currupt. Not that he did such a thing on a regular basis or anything... and not that he wanted to currupt Kanelo, exactly... he'd just met the poor boy! Still... he couldn't help but feel immensily attracted to the younger lion.

He seemed more relieved than anything when Azima gave him an out through conversation of family. He smiled softly and shook his head, he'd never been a cub to intentionally get covered in mud. It wasn't as though he completely avoided getting dirty though... he just didn't have a great interest in games like those. "Well, maybe she just wasn't used to such a rambuncious cub?" He said slowly, his tone teasing as he eyed Kanelo. His tone had almost been implying Kanelo was still a cub, this very moment. With a playful grin Azima shifted away from the rock and began to walk.

"I know a fair few nice spots in the pridelands.." He started to plot a route in the back of his mind, trying to remember to move past his den at some point. It didn't hurt letting the other at least know where he lived... did it?

What a strange lion… stranger than most even, especially for a stranger. In Kanelo’s experience, most strangers tried to hide their strangeosity, because that sort of thing was private and would make others look at them strangely. But Azima here… he apparently didn’t mind talking about this whole… male-male thing. For a moment, Kanelo pensively wondered if it could work between females too… well, sure. Why not? If it worked one way, it had to work another, right? Right. Anyway, he had to admit, Azima was interesting to talk to. It was nice to talk to someone he wasn’t related to, for once. Sometimes it felt like he was related to everyone around here.

Besides… maybe there was something to the red male’s words. And things had been strange at home. Lots of whispering going on between Mom and Dad, and something about something else that Kanelo hadn’t really been paying attention to. Maybe it was just his imagination, but, sometimes, he felt that Mom and Dad weren’t getting along the way they used to… and then there was Jasiri, one of Kanelo’s older brother who had been sneaking off lately. This time, Azima’s tone wasn’t lost on Kanelo. The younger male’s ears turned back and he jutted his chin out just slightly in a rather childish fashion, which contrasted sharply with his next words. “I’m not a cub any more, you know. Besides, with eight cubs, my mom should have known that there would be at least one wild one in the litter.”

As Azima moved, Kanelo trotted quickly to catch up with him, still vaguely miffed over the cub remark. Alright, so he was the baby of the family, but that didn’t mean much… and he was easily distra, hey a butterfly! Promptly forgetting any insult, the white male watched the fluttering insect for a moment before it fluttered past the other male. Oh right. He should probably focus on keeping up with him. “Alright, let’s go see some of these spots of yours. And I can show you mine.” There was nothing really flirtatious in his voice, although it certainly could have been taken that way if one wished.
