The lore of the ancient tribe known as the Ur-Jin has been lost for ages, and many of the books are now forgotten. Each book contains spells of great power, but the use carries the price of three curses, each connected to the spells in the book.
The first curse strikes whenever the reader releases his or her hold on the book. The remedy is contact with any Ur-Jin book the afflicted has read.
The second curse strikes whenever the reader is in the presence of an Ur-Jin object that is not a book. Only the curse from the last book one read from applies. The remedy is to escape the object. (Different objects have different potencies for this purpose. In some cases, contact is necessary, other times sight might trigger it, and still other times being within a certain radius of one will activate the curse.)
The conditions of the third curse vary from book to book, as does the remedy.
There is supposedly only one way to break the curse: to gather to oneself twenty books of Ur-Jin lore. The books need not be read to break the curse.
There are several known books...
The Book of Transformation -Allows the reader to reform the world around him or her, to a certain extent. -First Curse: Chimera Transformation -Second Curse: Unkown -Third Curse: Unknown owned by: unknown
The Book of Slumber -Allows the reader to induce or prevent sleep in a weak-willed or willing target, and influence the dreams of the sleeping. -First Curse: Insomnia -Second Curse: Drowsiness -Third Curse: Deep Sleep (triggered by seeing one's reflection, reversed by a kiss) owned by: unknown
The Book of Madness -Allows the reader to influence the emotions of living things nearby. -First Curse: Hallucinations -Second Curse: Schizophrenia -Third Curse: Insanity (Triggered by being in the presence of one's fears and only reversible by conquering that fear) owned by:Tobias Gibbet
The Book of Sound -Allows the reader to affect sounds in the area. -First curse: Heightened hearing -Second curse: Migrains -Third curse: unknown owned by:unknown
The Book of Ice -Allows the reader to control and to create ice and snow, under the correct conditions. -First Curse: A constant feeling of freezing -Second Curse: Friction-loss, meaning that the book holder is unable to walk properly, and instead slides as though on ice. -Third Curse: Frostbite, caused by being submerged in water below 70 degrees, reversed by being submerged in water above 90 degrees. Owned by: no one
The Book of Spite -Allows the reader to call on dark powers to torment a victim. First Curse: Albinism & Photosensitivity Second Curse: Bloodlust Third Curse: an urge to kill something (anything. Sad to say, even a puppy or a child. ANYTHING.) Caused by seeing a knife and reversed by seeing one's own blood. owned by: Jade
The Book of plague -Allows reader to transfer illnesses from a cold to the plague itself First Curse: you get a cold and/or fever that never goes away. Second Curse: you become sickly. This means your skin becomes almost gray-ish, you always have a fever and so on. You eyes get watery yet they feel dry. Third Curse: unkown owned by: James
The book of False Bliss. Allows the reader to create illusions of all five senses. First curse, imaginery things begin to appear in reality randomly but are not illusions. Second curse, loss of random memory. Will not return even when curse has ended. Third curse, slowly looses senses and creates a persona, Hibiki, who is violent and sadistic. Caused by rememberence of lost or supressed memories of an event or person who causes the reader pain. Ended when the reader forgets the memories once more. The persona usually will forget entirely of how he/she/it was brought into existence, in time.
To create your own book, PM me with the name of the book, the types of spells found within, and any curses you can think of.
Note that the spells and curses should be related somehow. Also, one of the curses may provide a clear benefit, but in this case it should also have an obvious and serious downside. For instance, the first curse of the Book of Transformation increases the reader's physical abilities, but also causes intense pain and turns the reader into a hideous beast. The other two curses should be inconveniences with no clear benefits.

OOC:
I've been thinking about the third curse of the Book of the Spite.
It can be completely urning to kill something (anything. Sad to say, even a puppy or a child. ANYTHING.) Caused by seeing a knife and reversed by seeing one's own blood. Just a thought.

The night was calmer then usual. Jade relaxed on her bed. Her house was quiet, since her mother was a pilote for Delta Airlines. She sighed, glancing over to the television as she painted with some simple water colors. On was The Scariest Places On Earth. She mumbled to herself, "That child needs guidance."

Toby walked down the street, heading for his house. He didn't want to go home, he would much rather be at work. He re shouldered his backpack and kept walking as a little breeze ruffles his hair.

"Indeed, it does appear that we have a dilemma of some sort." Kazumi spoke to the green squirrel who perched on his shoulder. All around his small apartment, a colorful array of dvds flew across the room. Apparently a orange and purple striped mushroom was waging war against a black cat. Both weilding CDs and more within their arsenal. "Why don't you touch the book? Then everything will go away." The squirrel coaxed gently as Kazumi shrugged. "Where's the fun in that?" He asked as he sat down and began to continue his rough draft of his new story.

(( ummm eheh.....'^-^ i already kind of deleted the messages....sorry...))
Toby sat down on the curb outside his apartment building and let his bag slip off his shoulders. He leaned back so that he was laying down on the sidewalk with his feet and most of his legs in the street and stared up at the sky. There were too many clouds to be able to see the stars tonight.

The squirrel twitched incredibly before screeching out loud. "I spy with my two little eyes, THE MAD HATTER!" It began to pulled at Kazumi's sleeve ferociously until he walked to the window and looked out. "Toby?" Even Kazumi was dubious of the once wise purple squirrel. "Well, I guess we should go down and greet him at the very least." The squirrel looked at Kazumi with wide eyes as though he wanted to be brought along. And he nearly let him if it weren't for the flying plate that nearly hit his outstretched hand. "Next time." Grabbing a thin grey shawl, he walked outside with a book in his hand, towards Toby. "Hey neighbor."

Toby jumped as someone said his name. He scrambled up into a sitting position and whirled around. "Oh..hey, Kazumi. Whats up?" He rubbed the back of his head with his hand.

Jade sighed, her face turning towards the window. Her soft sliver eyes spotted two figures. Standing, she creeped closer to the window, peering out. She sighed, her eyes rolling in her head. Only `Tobes and Kazumi would be out at midnight. She thought, another sigh escaping from her lips. She opened the window, and climbed out on the roof, sitting under the shade of the oak even though it was only midnight. She would then wait until either one would see her. It was unnatural for her to even be out in the night. She liked the confinds of her room much better.
