Ok I am going to lead off with some more scam issues but with so many can we not let everyone know ... and new members are especially trusting and really need to pay attention to these (even us old goats fall prey every now and then by just not paying attention so we all have to be as aware as we can be of all of the scams going on.... I promise fun stuff at a later time but for now .........)
Most of you know that you should never, ever give your password to anyone, even if they say they're a moderator, administrator, or Gaia staff member. Gaia administrators don't need your password they already have it.
However, even people who are careful about giving their passwords out still wind up getting their accounts taken over by something called a phishing site. Scammers like to steal accounts by making bogus login pages that LOOK like the real Gaia Online (or like official Gaia pages), but actually just collect passwords. Here are some common scams to look out for:
Pages that look like Gaia's logged-out homepage. If you ever follow a link and then notice that you've logged out of your Gaia account, beware! You may have been redirected to a fake login page that will steal your password.
Masked URLs. If you can't actually see the address in a link you're clicking-- for example, if it's been masked by another site (like tinyurl.com) -- be extra careful.
Weird pop-ups that ask for your password. Don't trust these!
Fake Gaia links. For example: http://www.gaiaonline.com.freegold.info/ - PHONY! See how the last bit of the URL is freegold.info? It can be tricky! Our site always begins with http://www.gaiaonline.com/xxxxxx. Here are a few sites that look like real Gaia pages, but are actually fake scam pages:
gaiaonline.betabattle.com - SCAM! gaia0nline.com - SCAM! gaiagold.com - SCAM! gaiaionline.com - SCAM! gaialabs.com - SCAM! It should go without saying that you should NOT enter your login info in any of those sites...
If you see a site that says you'll get Gaia Gold if you enter your username and password, it's a scam. If you see a site that says it'll sign you up for the Battle beta test, it's a scam.
Keep your eyes out, guys! Being careful is the best defense against these scams and we certainly don't want you to lose your accounts!
Take care everyone and don't get trapped in one of these scams.
Much luv, Nanna heart

Seriously, can't they find something better to do than to steal virtual stuff? It's not real people! What kind of satisfaction can they really get out of that?
