Some things never change Daemon thought to himself with a smile on his maw. Ruffian was out perhaps scouting again, but that was alright, or perhaps still sleeping in the den, which was fine too. Certain things never changed, like how he felt for her, and he hoped that she knew that. Flicking his tail Daemon yawned and stretched his forearms outside the den, peered around. Their children had grown now, all adults, venturing off on their own, who knew, perhaps having romances. But still, he was a father after all, he had a family, and he was attached to them, everyone.
To have his cubs already adults, it made him smile, but also made him sulk deep down knowing that they would soon 'leave the nest,' so to speak.
Even Tearh now seemed to wander more on her own, which was good, but a father can worry after all! Though he assured himself that they were all alright, everything was alright here.

Ruffian's dark coat emerged from the grasses. She was easy to spot in the lush green and yellow grasses of the Pridelands, her black coat sticking out from all the colour that surrounded her. But she was still skilled enough in her scouting to get everything done, and keep everyone safe.
It had been a long morning, and she was ready to spend the rest of the day at home. Her slow approached made her judge just who was home, and it was a pleasure for her to see her mate. Who would have known, so long ago, that fateful time when she only promised to show him where the Pridelands laid. Now here she was, living with him as his mate, and loving it. Life always gave the lioness twists with every turn.
She nodded once she had reached him, bowing her head to rub her's against his. "Hello," she said, a deep rumble emiting from her throat.

Daemon watched as his black pelted mate approached from the grasses, true, she was quite skilled in keeping herself hidden when she needed to, but such a dark pelt color in the grass, even his own pelt, was easy to spot once within range. He purred as he felt her touch her head to his, and he returned the gesture gracing a gentle lick on her cheek.
Flicking his tail he turned himself around, while letting his side grace her own gently, to face the same way as she.
"I'm guessing you have made the Pridelands quite safe today for you to be home so early," he said with a chukle.
"Your the first to come by this way, even Tearh is out on her own today."

Ruffian remained silent as she settled herself down to lay next to Daemon, flicking her tail so it would lay atop of his. One small huff escaped her mouth as her body hit the ground, letting her body rest closely to his.
"They're growing up, Daemon," she said, giving one of her forepaws a good lick. She needed to clean her face up a bit, as the grass on the outlying borders was a little dry, and thus dusty.
"As well as everyone is. We don't have as many cubs as we did, so at least I'm not as much of a babysitter as I was just a few moonturns ago." Or, at least it felt like that. Now most of the pride seemed to have gone through a growthspurt, her cubs not an exception.
"But if we have the home to ourselves for a while..." she teased her mate, nudging his shoulder with her own.

"True, its just, strange, don't you think?" he asked settling him next to her, letting his tail stay with hers, letting the gentle wind touch his mane. "Everything has changed a bit, time changes things," he looked to her, blue eyes settled on her form. She was so beautiful, he couldn't help himself. He swore to himself a long time ago, he would fight any male who dare venture too near to her, or try to get to her heart, Daemon loved Ruffian, and would not let her go.
To think their journey together started with him asking if she could guide him here...it was the best thing he had done.
He chuckled, purred and licked her cheek, "Mhmm, what does that mean huh?" he asked with a playful grin.

Ruffian closed her eyes for a moment from the lick, letting a slight chuckle tickle her throat. "I'm just teasing you. Or I'm not." She leaned over to rest her head on his forelimb, sighing mildly in comfort.
"Time is worse than water. At least if you're crafty you can stop water. Time never stops." She let her tail wrap a bit around his own, feeling relaxed as she concentrated on the comfort of his warm body next to hers.
"Just don't say we're old. As soon as you say that, I'll prove that we're not." She grinned, one of her wicked grins that showed she meant business. Even being a mother of seven children, she never let her devious side stray too far away from her.

"Oh really? And what exactly might you do if I did say that?" he said slightly sticking out his pink tongue to mock her, and he chuckled also, licking her cheek. "At least we're not grandparents, far as I know," though his tone of voice at the word grandparents changed, grandparents, like any of his//he was going to think babies, but children would have cubs of their own.
The strange thoughts indeed!
Daemon let his tail stay with hers, wrap with her, and he tugged on hers slightly so as to not hurt her, and he grined still, quirked a brow, "What might you do huh?"

"Hmph! Grandparents indeed. That's something I'm not ready for, not at all." She pressed her head onto Daemon's foreleg a bit more. SHe was moreso hiding her emotions on the ideas of that than anything. It was hard, seeing your children grow up and not need you anymore. More than she ever would have imagined. Was this how her mother felt? The immense sadness that her mother must have felt knowing before she had died seemed to echo in Ruffian's own heart. As long as they were here, though, she knew that she would be all right.
Turning her attention back to her mate, her humor returned to her again. She had to think about him more than her children, for she didn't raise weak children, whether in body, mind, or in heart.
"Something that you might enjoy," she said with a sly chuckle. She let herself roll over onto her other side, so she could watch Daemon with her own eyes. SHe let the tips of her feet rest just by him so she was still in physical contact.
"But thinking of the kids, how are they doing?" She felt like she hadn't spent much time with them lately, as all nine of the family seemed busy these days.

Daemon grinned and watched as she rolled over, her feet touching him slightly he moved a paw to rest over one of her own. With a sincere smile he watched her, the kids, hmm, always coming into play ruining the possibility of..some fun.
"I'd like to find out what that is later," he said with a wink.
"The kids seem to be doing alright, venturing on their own, meeting others, perhaps even making dens for themselves, though I still wonder what they are doing, the protective side of me, I can't help it...I almost followed Tearh the other day when she went off on her own..." it was hard letting go.
"I mean, if Tearh is even on her own now..." his heart sank somewhat, would any of his children need his guidance?

Ruffian laughed heartily, quite amused with the play banter between the two of them. At least time had never changed that. "I'm sure you'll find out later," she said, cheesily batting her eyelashes up at him.
Switching gears into a more serious tone, Ruffian nodded. "They really are growing up, hm?" It was humerous to hear Daemon mentioning the fact that he wanted to follow after their youngest and smallest daughter.
"Oh, Daem! You should know better than anyone that it's good she's spending time on her own. For a while there I was scared that she'd never leave home, always latching to me like a baby monkey." Not that she didn't love her daughter, but it always surprised Ruffian for her silver daughter to be that clingy. At least she had grown out of it, and seemed to be growing stronger every day.
"Sometimes I think they'll all leave us at once. Then we might get a little bored, never having anyone to gossip about," she chuckled, lightening the conversation up.

Daemon couldn't help but be protective! It was his right after all, he huffed to himself, lay flat on the ground still having his paw over hers. "If they all left at once, that'd be..." well, good that they would venture on their own finally, but, he would be lying if he didn't also know he would have an ache in his heart that his children would not be home all the time, that they wouldn't need him all the time.
"She loves you though," he said with a smile.
Tearh always admired her mother, always.
"Oh, I think we would find ways to keep ourselves amused and busy," he said with a wink and a silly grin on his maw.

Ruffian couldn't help he. Her mate had laid it out openly for her, and Ruffian was never one to let a good moment go by without taking full advantage of it. She settled her head onto her limbs, letting her brown eyes look up at his blue ones. "Convenient? It doesn't mean that there could never be more..." she said sweetly, letting her eyes be as innocent as she could manage.
Chuckling to herself, she agreed on the fact of Tearh. Rustling around again, she settled herself down again, still keeping her head on her paws. It felt good to relax like this, even if they were talking about some more serious things under their light chatter. "I know she does, as I her."
"I do think I love you the most though, Daem." She grinned.

Daemon didn't have a coherent vocal response in words, his only response was a low growl-purr as he watched her, blue eyes meeting her deep brown orbs, getting lost in them. More? He wouldn't think she would ever voice it aloud, but..she had. It took him off guard, but it also let his heart know that she truly trusted him, adn cared for him to say such a thing aloud.
he craned his neck over to her cheek to lick her gently again, purring and nuzzling her cheek against hers, "And I love you incredibly...darling," true, he was a romantic, but he usually didn't use cutesy words all the time, but it felt right...everything felt right with Ruffian at his side.

"Hmph," the dark lioness said, quite content with herself. "I'll take that as a yes, then." She curled her tail around his after searching for it for a moment.
She shifted around again, this time returning to lean against his side. "If so, then you get to be the babysitter this time." Not that she was the previous time, but Ruffian always loved to act like she was the better of the two. Blame it on her competitiveness that never burned out. "And maybe I'll take them a day or two."
A new idea struck through her mind, one that they hadn't taken advantage of too much the previous time. "Or we could always dump them on one of the older kid's plates. That would give us some alone time..." She nuzzled into Daemon's soft white mane, remembering how she used to tease him about being like a cloud.

Daemon purred and curled himself around her, not too close as she would be uncomfortable, but close enough that they were touching, were warm, and were together as one. He nuzzled hwe again, and chuckled, "I didn't know if you would want more little paws running around, perhaps clinging to you in the process," he said with a smile, keeping her close.
"Yes, they could be the baby sitters, and we could go off and be..." he stopped, waggled his eyebrows and grined in a silly manner, "a-lone..."
