Fluffy clouds dotted the sky above and the sun, bright as always, played hide and seek with the earth in them. It was warm outside, not too hot like the past couple of days had been. For that the blue cattaur was thankful, even though he knew the wind would take care of any heat. And as usual…the wind, which was still every where else, was swirling softly around Zain’s paws.
It took Zain a minute to register that Rani had taken his arm. His heart thumped wildly, but the cattaur took a breath and calmed down before the wind acted up. Then his eyes, purple orbs of surprise, blinked at her. He really hadn’t been expecting her to take his arm like that. ‘Not that I’m complaining…’ It was just that having a sister like Clea had made him a bit jumpy at being touched. Already he had automatically scanned for any vicious vines. 'I need to calm down...' He thought with a silent chuckle. “I guess…maybe to the beach? Sometimes Catori can be found there…I’m sure she’d know where her older sister is.”
The wind ruffled his hair teasingly before retreating back around his paws. Glaring at the unseen ally that was annoying him, Zain tried to keep it from being noticed. “So the beach sound good?” He asked Rani again, ignoring the breeze moving around his feet.

She glanced at Zain to look him over. She did her best to be subtle - Mirala had advised her to always be as inconspicuous as possible when looking at guys... Rani had never understood why. If they were pretty, why not look at them openly? It had never been a problem with Armaeo and Naomi, which she had told her centauress friend, but Mira said that was different. Rani still didn't understand why "looking at good-looking friends is different than looking at good-looking guys", but she decided to follow Mira's advice for the time being. She had commented once that Detnuadnu never had a problem openly looking at pretty girls, but Mira said that was a whole different matter and not to follow Det's example.
So here she was, subtly looking at Zain's prettiness. She liked his hearts, they were like Yan's, but different. He was also a very nice shade of blue, and his spots pattern was very interesting, and she couldn't help but stare. Evisule had taught her to be proud of herself, including her looks, but although Rani did like her own colors very much, she liked his spots just as much, if not more.(Sorry for taking so long, here's a somewhat lengthy post to make up for it. XD For some reason I seem to have ended up writing quite a bit about how my other taur have influenced my little kitty... XP)

Zain smiled at Rani before turning down another trail and walking towards the beach. It'd be a little bit, but they'd get there quicker than if they took the other path. Usually this path was the one Zain took by himself...the other was when he was being followed by either Tori or Clea.
He kept glancing at Rani from the corner of his eye. She was a very pretty cattaur, he quickly decided. He loved how her fur went from a light violetish pink to a deeper purple like shade. She also seemed pretty nice, which definitely was welcomed by Zain. A sigh escaped his lips as just the word nice reminded the blue cattaur of his adopted mother, Willow. He wondered what she could be up to lately...always disappearing as she did. The same with Clea, now that they both were young adults it seemed like keeping track of his sister had become more challenging than ever. 'What a pain that can be...'
Noticing the silence that filled the air around them Zain quickly refocused. It was then that he spoke to Rani, "Umm...so anything you wanna talk about while we're walking?" Already mentally slapping himself for being such an idiot the cattaur didn't dare look directly at Rani.

Ranikata giggled. "Sure, if you want to... um..." She thought for a second, her face scrunched up cutely. "Oh, I know! Tell me about yourself!" She looked up at his face and grinned. "If we're gonna go on an epic quest to find Armaeo and Naomi, we'd better get to know a bit more about each other, neh?"
Her bubbly demeanor reflected her childlike happiness, but it also hid her childlike insecurities. She was used to being the youngest, the cuddled one, the loved one, but without her best friends she was a bit lonely. They were probably somewhere having fun... what if they didn't feel like playing with her any more? What if they didn't care for her flower chains any more? What if they had made new friends without her?

"Epic quest?" Controlling the urge to laugh, Zain just smiled instead. 'Really Rani...' His eyes sparkled more now as he finally answered her. "Sure....Umm...let's see. I was adopted by a golden cattaur called Willow and have two other siblings, Clea and Armaeo. I haven't really met my older brother or Naomi, but know about them through Uncle Cyrus, Willow, and cousin Catori. My sister Clea is kinda crazy and used to be such an attention hog..." He chuckled there, "Still is some."
The wind whistled angrily in his ear, but the cattaur wouldn't tell Rani of his annoying wind magic just yet. Truthfully he was afraid of allowing anyone outside of his family learn of it....would he be considered weird if he said anything about it?
Shaking off those thoughts, Zain continued. "I like to train, to go to the market, taking long walks, and to go swimming at the beach. And..." He looked at Rani and grinned, "This one's a bit weird...when I was a child I liked the taste of flowers. So what about you?"

"Willow? Willow..." Rani tapped her chin. "Oh! I know where I've heard of her! She and Zale are Rey's friends!" She grinned. "Reyamet's a cattaur too, kinda like my big brother, but I've got a pretty big group of adopted siblings. Evisule's the big sister of us all, though, she's taken care of most of us since we were babies. A lot of the time she even seems like the older sister of Eli, her big brother." She giggled.
"I'm also pretty close with Yanreil 'cause we're about the same age... I should introduce you two sometime, like I said before, you both have those pretty hearts." She smiled up at him. "Other than my huge family, my best friends are Armaeo and Naomi." She burst into giggles at his last comment. "Well, I've never tried them, but I do like making flower chains."
She brushed the hair out of her eyes as the wind picked up a bit. "Hmm, seems like it got a bit windier all of a sudden. That's good... I always liked the wind on sunny days, especially when I was in the middle of a flower field, and all the flowers looked like they were dancing around me..." She blushed a little as she realized what she was saying. "Eh heh... sorry about that, I guess some of Yan's daydreamy-ness must've rubbed off on me..."

Zain's eyes sparkled as Rani spoke. "That's cool!" He coughed into his hand and tried to calm down his eagerness. "I mean...seems very interesting about your family, Rani. And Eli and Evi sound kinda like my Uncle Cyrus and Mom. She's younger than him, but definitely can stay cool and calm down his temper." He grinned and added a bit sarcastically, "Not that Cyrus ever loses his temper."
Someone else had hearts on them? Like him and Clea? That'd be an interesting one to meet...definitely. "Flower chains?" Questioned Zain with a small smile, "I don't think I've ever seen anyone make them...maybe this one centauress before...but that was a bit ago."
As if hearing the compliment the wind brushed around Rani playfully. Zain narrowing his eyes tried to control the magic that affected this...but was barely successful and the breeze still blew around them. 'It's a bit more like a normal one now though...' Or so the blue cattaur hoped. "No!" Zain turned his violet gaze away from Rani to hide the faint blush on his cheeks. "I mean...it's fine. It sounds like a very pretty thing to see, Rani." Inside he felt some more relief, so she did like the wind!

She smiled brightly. "I should make some for you, then! I'll bet you'd look very pretty with some flower necklaces," she teased.
She pushed her hair out of her face again, the wind brushing her as if it were happy or something. Nodding, she replied, "It definitely is... the flower fields were always my favorite place, whether I was there with lots of people or a few or even alone... I always felt at home." She shrugged. "But then, I like lots of places. Speaking of which, how close are we to the beach, do you think?"

"If you say so." Zain replied with a grin on his face. His eyes twinkled though at another thought, 'That is as long as the flowers aren't trying to strangle me...' "So you really like flowers....I'll have to take you to our garden sometime then. Willow and Lily go crazy planting flowers..."
Hearing her question, Zain held up a hand and realized that the taste of salt water was in the air. "We're actually pretty close..." Up ahead the trees were slightly spreading apart and the crashing of waves against the rocks could be heard. Still walking the blue cattaur allowed his eyes to close as he smiled and took in the familiar smells and sounds. 'My home away from home...'

Ranikata grinned. "If they like planting them so much, they might not like me picking them for necklaces..."
She sniffed the air, her face lighting up with excitement. "Ooo, I haven't been to the beach in so long!" Glancing at Zain, she laughed and sped up into a run. "Race you!" she called, already having gained an unfair distance on him.

Zain laughed, "Nah, with my sister around the flowers would just spring back up." His eyes sparkled, it was quite true. Every where Clea went so did a bunch of new plants.
"Hey!" Zain called before running after Rani, "Not fair!" But he was still laughing as he ran and even as he slowed down purposely and fell just behind Rani as they neared the beach itself. The sunlight hit him full in the face as the shadows of the trees disappeared and the bright crystal water was lapping lazily at the shore now and then crashing as a big wave. It really was a beautiful day. "Now Naomi's sister and maybe even Naomi should be around here some where." He managed in between getting breath in from their race.

Rani giggled, breathing deeply. She had noticed how he held back and probably could have won, and kind of wondered why he did so, but at the moment she was distracted from the thought. Her ears perked up at the mention of Naomi.
"Hmm... where should we look? Just everywhere in this general area?" she asked, taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Feeling the familiar scent of the sea always made Zain happy and he broke into a giant grin. His mind barely took in Rani's words as he nodded, "Sure." Giving a short but deep purr, Zain gently grabbed Rani's hand. "Let's go to the shore first and go from there!"
Walking at a brisk pace, the cattaur started into a faster pace that was close to a run as the gently crashing waves got closer to them. The breeze reflecting his excitement blew warmly around in small laps around the two cattaurs.

"Okay!" she replied, unconsciously interlacing her fingers with his. Easily keeping up with his quick pace, she ran her fingers through her hair, trying to keep as much out of her eyes as possible so she could look around. If Naomi or Catori was there, Rani wanted to spot them.
She was definitely enjoying the atmosphere of the ocean sounds, the beach's appearance, the sea breeze... and walking hand in hand with Zain. Though they moved quickly, it was a very calming place.

( ;-; *is sorry for not posting in forever* My brain died on this rp, but Zain is back! =3 ) Avoiding direct eye contact with Rani, should she notice the faint blush on his face, Zain took the time to keep a watch out for Tori or Naomi. He chuckled softly to himself as he walked along the edge of the beach. 'This is great....too bad I have to concentrate on finding my cousins...and brother.'
He paused uncertain on the last bit. Armaeo and him had never really gotten to know each other. But one thing for sure was that Zain was truly upset with the older cattaur for just leaving their mother like he did no matter what the circumstance. 'He could've at least come home to visit her every now and then.' He thought sourly. But his thoughts were paused by the cool water that touched his paws. "Ah!" Zain barely kept from jumping. Then he laughed and smiled sheepishly at Rani, "I about forgot that we were walking next to the ocean!"
