"D***!" The curse echoed against the trees of the forest surrounding her and Masquerade shook her small head trying to dull the stinging in her head. The young kalona hadn't been paying enough attention and her extra horn, a wicked curved back thing half stained by blood, had gotten tangled in some tree limbs and yanked it rather hard when she had tried to walk on.

Masquerade was small and dainty for a kalona, more like an Arabian in build. Her appearance didn't make her look tough, but she could have cared less though. She wasn't a fighter, well at least not equally ranked fights, instead Masquerade played her little mind games that she had played as a foal only now they had a more adult seductive theme rather than pretending to be a friend. The poor lesser never knew what was coming until it was to late for them, and of course dead men told no tales.

When the stinging had nearly stopped the brown and blue kalona mare moved once more.

She weaved in and out of the shadows, even though she didn't blend in at all with them, hooves barely makeing a sound as the moved gracefully over the dead leaf litter and fallen twigs. Her eyes stood out perfectly against the shadows through, the pupil-less glowing orbs seeming to have no bottom to their depth nor did they reveal what she was feeling or thinking.

She hoped to meet another, preferably another kalona but a lesser would do. Even though she wasn't hungry she could still play with them for awhile.

Since she didn't expect to meet another, Masquerade let herself do something she never did when others were around ... she started to sing, though it was soft and to herself for the most part. She had a beautiful voice, but didn't expect that many kalona would find singing something that a proud kalona would do, but she loved to sing so allowed herself to when she was alone and bored.

The sound of chains could be heard by anyone in the area of the large kalona. The heavy chains dragged upon the ground, clinking against the rocks and trees as he passed. Despite their weight, they were no burden to the stallion that carried them. He was larger than most and had an aura of strength around him though it didn't necessarily meet his eyes. For now, this was a peaceful giant.

Wrath needed to get away from Succubus for awhile. That mare was beginning to bring out the anger that he tried so hard to keep in control lately. He knew she was using him. When it came to intimacies, he did not mind. He enjoyed that as much as she. What got under his skin was her attempt to control him when they were not alone. When things were not.. private. Her need to control him was starting to piss him the hell off. How many of these walks had he taken now? How many times can be he expected to cool off before going off on the mare? He didn't want to hurt her but she was driving him to the brink of sheer fury. He didn't want to lose control. He could not allow himself to lose control.

Masquerade flicked her ears towards the sound of chains and her singing stopped instantly. "Well .. s**t" she hated being caught singing, even by the lessers. She waited for a moment then turned on her heels to search out the intruder upon her alone time that was makeing the sound. She slipped through the shadows silent and graceful until she spotted what she was looking for and paused.

The kalona before was huge, much like her favored acquaintance Dyson, and had that aura of power that could have easily drawn her in, except that she was choosing to be extra careful around her own kind. She didn't like fights that didn't favor her as the winner, and because of her extra horn this one might want to kill her like many others had.

He also reminded her of someone she'd meet briefly with momma, but his name eluded her .

So for now the small kalona mare decided to stay in the shadows, her eyes glowing like stars in the darkness that surrounded her to watch and study Wrath.

He had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts that it had taken him a moment to realize that he was not alone. Another had been singing nearby but seemed to have stopped as he neared. The owner of the voice had apparently noticed him as well as he soon found himself starting at her. Was she trying to hide from him? He couldn't be sure. Maybe if she had darker hair, she might have been able to pull it off but her hair was such an unusual shade that it stood out in the woods.

"Might as well come out," he called before continuing to walk along. If the mare wanted to follow, he wouldn't oppose but he wasn't going to go seek her out. Hell no. While he didn't hold one's actions towards another, he was certain he had his fair share of mares. The only ones he really cared to meet were his daughters.

Why did his thoughts always go back to Succubus? That infuriated him more than anything else. He couldn't stop thinking about the damn mare. Perhaps a distraction would help.

Masquerade flicked an ear and silently cursed her bright hair before she emerged form the shadows. She folded her wings down tight against her back and moved after him intrigued by the massive black and red stallion. In a size contrast they were polar opposites, he was a huge specimen like a champion heavy weight boxer, while she was small and dainty looking like a ballerina.

She moved quickly in a slow trot hooves touching the ground on lightly till she was walking parallel to him though a few feet away.

There was something else odd about him to Masquerade, he seemed to be calm, amazingly so. That fact only intrigued the kalona more and she studied him closer head cocking to the side her blood stained silver horns giving off an even brighter gleam than normal for a moment. For now though she stayed silent and was content to study him as the wondered along.

"I suppose if you were going to attack, you would have done so by now," he stated matter-of-factly, "so I will leave you to your singing." The large stallion turned and began to walk away. He was half curious if the mare would attack his back but really, that would be more effort on her part than it was worth because of their sheer size difference. Still, most Kalona were unpredictable and more often than not, they were idiots too.

"My hind legs are my weak spot," he offered teasingly. It wasn't untrue. If he did have a weak spot, it would certainly be his hind legs. He had chains covering the other areas and his horns provided enough defense and offense for the front. While most underestimated his horns because of their shape, they were stronger than the typical Kalona horn. He had sent many flying backwards with the sheer power of a blow.

She stiffened slightly, so he'd figured it was her singing? Well at least he hadn't yet started degrading her for it so for now she didn't worry about that fact. With a flick of her tail she carefully as she considered his next words and tried to think out her own response, though he seemed calm she had no clue how he would act if she said the wrong thing.

She grinned at him showing her pearly fangs "I don't attack brother's of the kalona race unless given a reason to do so. Besides, with your size and strength defeat would come swiftly and I don't feel like marring my coat just yet."

She giggled crazily shaking her head and making her short mane flop back and forth across her sleek thin neck.
