I just bought myself a new, wide, flatscreen monitor. A 19" Samsung SyncMaster 732NW, made of glossy black plastic like our nowadays electronics.
Trust me, one thing is using your computer with a huge, blurry, old-a** CRT monitor that constantly bombards your eyes with electrons that make them bleed, and another thing is using your computer with an awesome TFT monitor that doesn't hurts the eyes, has trainloads and trainloads of screen real estate, and that besides, looks crystal-clear. biggrin
The only downside is that games look stretched unless I play them in windowed mode. Some look weird, like Morrowind, but some still manage to look good, like Outrun 2006. Some do have a windowed mode or have a hack that lets you play them this way, like NFS Underground.
If you can afford to one, don't hesitate to buy one. This one cost $210 and that's in Mexico, where you have to add a shitload of import taxes to the original price. biggrin

Congratulations on getting a new monitor. =)
... my house does not have such monitor. crying Well, then again, we're being cheap and will probably end up buying one when a monitor dies. Haha.
