Sleep was now a constant thought in Noah's mind. Sleep and how much he craved it. Needing sleep after adopting one so young was understandable, yes; but the fact that he had been getting, oh, three to five hours of sleep a night since adopting Adhara was a bit of stretch lack-of-sleep-wise. His half-mast brown eyes watched the little girl as she bothered one of the people at small ice cream shop in the food court.
They'd gone out that day to get Adhara some clothes of her own that weren't tailor-made by one of Noah's strange friends, and had ended up in the food court afterward. Unfortunately, he'd made the mistake of letting his adoptee get a dessert of her choice. As a result, she was talking a mile a minute, and it might be more entertaining if he wasn't looking forward at all to the bus ride back home; the whole way there, she was constantly in motion, doing one thing or another. And for how young she was, she had quite the voice on her...
"So if the cream comes from milk, where does the milk come from?!" the child asked, eyes bright as she followed the person behind the counter back and forth, dodging the other customers and failing to notice the melting chocolate ice cream in her hand. The dress she had on was a creation of one of Noah's friends -she'd forgotten the woman's name- and was white, with a yellow collar and thick yellow sash that was sewn directly onto the dress itself, holes on either side for her tentacles, and no back for her wings. Of course, the top part had some yellow strings that kept the back together.
"Um... from cows?" the teenage girl from behind the counter answered, trying her hardest not to shoo the strange looking girl away from the counter, mostly for fear of a set of parents that she wished would take her away. Far away.
"Well how do the cows get it?" she asked, ever-present lisp tinging her speech. The feathers of her wings fluttered a bit, but she tried to keep them pressed against her back best she could. Her temper for those tentacles, however, was wearing quite thin. She pouted and batted one away from the hem of her dress once more, while taking hold of the one that had been trying to undo the fake bow sewn onto the back of her dress. As soon as this was taken care of [for the time-being, at least], she let her attention be dragged away by her ice cream, as well as the woman's answer to her strange question.

Adriel had been parked in the food court again. His mother having gone to get more clothes because his tentacles kept wrecking her shirts, skirts and dresses. SHe knew better than to take him in with her....otherwise the rest of the ladies in the store might make her ear burn at their lectures. So the boy was sat at a table given some money if he was hungry and told to stay put.
Giving a sigh the poor boy stared at his shoes for the most part..unable to meet people's strange looks as his tentacles did their best to be a pest. At the moment they played with a paper cup as they were bored. Poking the tentacle in the cup and lifting it up like it was a a hat the tentacle moved around until the 'hat' was snatched away and crushed by the second tentacle. A fight was sure to break out between the two...if they suddenly hadn't paused and turned their attention to something very familar.
Adriel winced in pain his hand coming up to his forhead where he rubbed the two slits on his forhead that as of late had become tender, he looked up wondering why his tentacles were stopping and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head. He stared....at her...ignoring the icecream dripping down her hand... but his gaze went to her wings..horns..and ...two fleshy tentacles that came out of her side.
Boggeled was the only way to describe his mind set...there...were others like him? He jumped to his feet and then froze....it was...a girl....he knew how his tentacles reacted around girls.... he looked at them carefully and noticed they boy seem to 'stare' in her direction as well. But they didn't make the obvious 'grabby hands' gesture like they did with Marieke.

"Listen kid, I don't make this stuff, I just serve it," the ice cream girl grumbled, finally able to turn and stare down little Adhara, who's amber eyes didn't lose a single drop of their curiosity. Rather, she almost gaped at the employee.
"Well, why not?! It sounds so fun! Why don't you make the ice cream and serve it? That makes more sense," she looked thoughtful for a moment, putting a finger to her lips and letting the other tentacle resume whatever it was doing. She didn't seem to notice the lack of attention she, herself, was getting from them; as dramatic a change as it was. "If you don't make the ice cream, who does?"
"I don't know! It comes in trucks, and then we put it in the freezer, then take it out, and sell it to people!! Please can you go bother someone else?"
Adhara let a slow pout to form on her face, tongue retracting from the ice cream cone as she narrowed her eyes at the woman, looking as though she wanted to yell back, but not doing so. After a moment, she turned away, tossing her ice cream in the nearest trash bin and retrieving a handful of napkins with which she began wiping her hands off. This was put to a stop when one of her tentacles wound itself around her arm, making her frown irritably at it, tossing the napkins into the same trash can she'd committed the ice cream cone to. The other appendage was jabbing in one direction, as though trying to get her to change her focus. After a moment of trying to untangle her arm from the other one [and failing] she let her attention be drawn away, though remained trying to retrieve her arm.
But then she stopped. And she stared... and stared.....
Finally she blinked, catching the fact that she was staring and smiled, waving shyly at the boy with the hand that wasn't wrestling with her other limbs. Oddly enough, he was staring, too, but that wasn't what was really catching her eyes at the moment. For one, there were his eyes, almost the same shade of amber as her own; then there were the horns atop his own head, a bit shorter than her's; they also had the same colour of hair, and -probably the most obvious part- they both shared those same bizarre limbs that Adhara was currently having trouble with. Maybe they were siblings!!
The girl bridged the space between the two of them, if only to satisfy her own curiosity. However, when she got close, the purple tentacle that had been so curious along with her was now wrapped around her waist, almost possessively. She frowned at how unfriendly they were being, but quickly reverted to her usual smile, and her straight-to-the-point attitude.
"Hi, I'm Adhara!" she said sweetly, still smiling despite her obvious irritation of the tentacle that was almost desperate for her attention, as though the other boy was going to steal every last bit of it; like she didn't normally pay attention to fifty things at once. Letting the bothersome thing be pet a bit, she made sure her eyes didn't leave the strange boy's; she had yet to have met another anything like her, actually. Her old mom didn't take her out enough for her to have met many people at all. After this moment of thought and looking over the strangely similar boy, she finally asked the question that had been bothering her since she'd gotten yelled at by the ice cream woman.
"Do you know how the cows get the milk?"
Noah's attention was dragged away from a half-eaten plate of his own food and a neglected cigarette when he saw his little girl leaving the ice cream parlor. Brown eyes narrowed a bit, bringing the scene into better focus and following the girl across the food court to... His eyes widened at Adhara's destination. There were other kids like her?! Well, I mean, he knew there were, he just thought that they would be... more spread out. Like, distributed through various areas where they wouldn't run into each other.
Apparently he'd been wrong. Something tugged at him and told him to walk over, but he pressed that urge down. He'd remembered how angry Sarah's daughter had gotten when she'd been talking to one of her friends. And for all he knew, she'd met him before; it was unlikely, yes, but it was always possible. And, anyway, he shouldn't mess up her first chance to make some friends that weren't his friends' kids.

Adriel's breath caught in his throat the urge to flee was building up inside of him though it wasn't that he was afraid of the girl...he was afraid of his tentacles.... though at the moment they only seemed to be starring at the younger girl it felt strange....it was like looking into a mirror of the opposite gender.
Raising a hand he offered the girl a very shy wave by wiggling the tips of his fingers.
"H..Hi.." He murmured a bit awe struck still. "I am Adriel.." He continued though his dream of having a pleasant conversation with the young lady was brutally ended when both tentacles reached for her. Or rather reached for her own purple appendages. Standing up quickly he felt them tugging him forward wanting to get closer. He restrained himself by planting his feet on the floor though it didn't stop the arms from reaching forward earnestly.
His urge to bolt was replaced by surprise as the random question was tossed at him. "um......" He started wondering why his mind was drawing a blank. "I think they make it..." He replied reaching forward despite his better judgment to touch one of her tentacles.
"Y..you have...you...look..like me." He finally managed to get out.

Adhara could only smile back at the boy's -Adriel, she now knew- obvious shyness. There was a way that they differed, then; unless he was just shy toward Adhara, herself, he seemed really shy, while she was... not shy, always running around and asking questions about whatever she could see or find or hear or taste. She almost wished that she had asked more about making the ice cream, rather than where it came from, but that wasn't to be helped now. Regretting such things was a waste of time, and and wasting valuable time should be a sin [if only she realized how ironic a thought that was].
When Adriel's tentacles reached for her, the girl's wings fluttered suddenly, a surprised reaction that sent a stray feather twirling to the ground. The late response was better than none to Adhara, but the images of cows making the milk confused her mind even further. She could always just bury Noah in questions, though he was obviously already getting worn out of her constant chatter and moving and learning and all the other things that she managed to get done at one time. For a moment, the possibility of Noah knowing how to make ice cream made her brighten; well, she had something to look forward to now. Or at least something to ask him.
Adhara glanced down when the appendage that had previously latched itself possessively to her waist released it's hold, and found that Adriel had taken the initiative to touch one of her tentacles before one of his own did. She observed for a moment the... happiness? of the ligament at the attention that it was getting, the tip experimentally looping itself through-and-around Adriel's fingers and then releasing, nuzzling against his palm all the while. After her stare finally went completely blank, Adhara realized that there were things going on in the world around her, and she was missing them. Her own small hand reached out toward one of Adriel's tentacles, tapping at it hesitantly, surprised as the tentacle that had been clinging to her arm fell away easily, extending itself toward one of Adriel's outside her direct line of focus.
"Well... that's not a bad thing, right?" she asked, still observing the other's oddly-similar extra limbs before glancing up a moment, some semblance of a frown gracing her young face. "Is that... weird or something? Aren't there more like us? Or are we the only ones?" Already, she'd gotten started with the questions; and she didn't think she was going to stop anytime soon. Then again, she didn't usually think all that much. "Well, I mean, there are other kids like us, but aren't there other ones who look like us?" Her attention was constantly shifting back and forth between the boy and the tentacles so like her own.
"Oh!" she noted suddenly, standing up straight from her eye-level position with Adriel's waist and sticking out the hand was wasn't otherwise entertained. "I almost forgot- Nice to meet you, Adriel!"

Adriel noticed her wings, noticed those beautiful wings and felt a bit bitter about it. It seemed like everyone had wings except him. He chewed on his bottom lip it felt strange to be holding, petting and stroking another limb that looked just like his own. Giving a small smile at ..how cute it was...it was a hard concept for him to wrap around...tentacles being cute...
"Uh....well...I guess there must be....I..just..." He started before pausing to think.Yes there had to be more like them....they couldn't be the only two right? "Never have seen anyone before you..I am kinda relieved.." he continued petting the tentacle watching out of the corner of his eye his right appendage had decided that attempting to lift the girls dress hem was the next best course of action.
"Ah...no stop that!" Adriel cried out in alarm releasing the tentacle in his hand to bat at his own. It eluded him easily and then teasingly attempted to 'peek' under her dress again.
Now...his left tentacle had paused as the girls came out to meet it. It then smoothly wrapped itself around it in a rather lustful manner like two intertwined snakes. Adriel found himself tugged to the left a bit his attention drawn back to other apendage a look of horror on his face.
"Ahhhh..no no let go of her!" He mewled patheticly. Her greeting or rather acknowledged greeting temporarily forgotten as he tried to pry his lef limp off her tentacle...which is refused stead fast and stop his other one from making him look like a pervert.

"Really? No one?" Adhara questioned, a wee bit confused on the whole matter. With the place she'd -actually, it seemed they'd both- come from, it seemed that there would have been others like both of them. Apparently, she'd been mistaken. "Why 're-lieved', though? she asked, having the slightest trouble pronouncing the longish word. "I mean... well, I dun'no; it's weird! Like- like having the arms of a conjoined twin. They don't listen!!" True, she'd kind of assumed that he knew what she was talking about; she'd also almost completely changed the subject right then. Others like them, though, would entail having tentacles also, wouldn't it? And that would be far from fun for whoever had to put up with it, whether spawn or guardian!!
When one of the boy's tentacles slipped beneath the edge of her dress, Adhara felt her face pale, before it gained a deep shade of red, in a mix of both frustration and embarrassment. What had she gotten herself into...? Immediately, her hand pushed it away, grabbing the hem of the dress and pulling it back down, pressing it as close to her body as she could, giving the purple ligament a much-diminished amount of space to slip beneath. Unbeknownst to her -in her moment of distraction; a moment that came far too often-, her own possessive limb, one that had previously been nuzzling against Adriel's hand had wrapped itself almost threateningly around his wrist.
The girl's eyes widened when she realized all else that was going on, and she felt her face earn an even darker colour; just like usual, however, anger came before tears, and she wasn't about to start crying over this. Instead, she bit down, accidentally snapping her wings against her back, a habit she'd not yet broken herself out of that left her with bruises on occasion. The noise earned the two a couple of stares, but most of the people simply pushed on, continuing with their mediocre shopping experience. "Stop it!!" she commanded of both Adriel's and her own tentacles, prying at the one that had itself wrapped in quite the disturbing manner around one of this boy's, making her strangely sick to her stomach.
This wasn't really getting anywhere. "How is this relieving?!" she questioned, not meaning to yell, especially not at Adriel. She was frustrated! And that frustration was slowly turning to anger, which was making her want to give up and burst into tears. That would probably get Noah's attention -wherever that always went was a good question- and then get the two of them separated, but it wasn't her style of getting things done; she could do this!! When she noticed the purple limb wrapped around Adriel's arm, though, she also noticed the fact that he was probably stronger than her, therefore had quite a good chance of helping with their current predicament.
So, hand ignoring the peeping-Tom actions of Adriel's other tentacle, trying to pry the one from around the boy's wrist. "I'm sorry!!" When force didn't seem to be working and the grip was only tightening, she switched her attack plan, instead stroking the thing until it released, but chose to wrap itself around her arm, diminishing her own ability to help ease the grip of her remaining limb. Entertaining the one tentacle, she turned back to the other, prying the end of Adriel's closest to her off her own [well, trying to], managing only to fit her hand beneath the very tip, not at all succeeding in this battle, even as she started flapping a bit, trying to pull herself backward, and push Adriel's strange extra limb back. She laughed nervously, though a bit frantically. "I don't see how this is relieving, Adriel!!"

Adriel was too freaked out by the fact that one of her tentacles was wrapped firmly around his wrist to reply to any of her comments. He knew his were strong but didn't realize that all who had the strange appendages had similar strengths. Now he knew how it felt to be a victim of one of them...and he didn't like it. It only make him dislike how own limbs more.
"Ah..." He winced as he tried to pull his wrist away, it hurt it really really hurt a strange panicky feeling built up in the pit of his stomach. What if..what if she broke his wrist?? He knew she wasn't meaning to but he was more afraid that his tentacles would take matters into their own 'hands'.
Being older he supposed helped as he tried to gently but forcefully remove the limb around his wrist the action becoming quite desperate.
"I'm sorry!" He echoed as he knew he was just as much apart of the problem as she was. His purple limb that had been trying to peek under dress abandoned the activity and went to wrap around her arm forcefully. As if it didn't want her to go and was keeping her firmly within reach. The other limb currently wrapped up with one of her limbs constricted somewhat aggressively. Now it just seemed like it was a competition of strength rather than attention.
"Hnnhhh.." Adriel mewled his forehead throbbing as well which didn't help matters. He felt his limbs pull the girl towards her, the familiar sinking sensation built in his stomach. His eyes were shut tight from the combinations of pain.
"Its not its not! a...h..it hurts.." He cried out in a pitiful manner. Adriel was too nice to just beat his own tentacles or rather a bit pathetic for it. He still fought with the apendage wrapped around his wrist despite having his eyes closed.

This was quite the compromising predicament, now wasn't it? The tentacle that had been wrapped around Adriel's wrist had decided also to wrap itself around the hand that Adhara had been trying to pry it off with. The thought that maybe using force to pry those limbs away from each other wasn't such a good idea came a millisecond too late, as her other arm was then grabbed by the tentacle of Adriel's that had been trying to slip under her skirt. Her own first meeting with another like her wasn't turning out to be the funnest of events. The flapping of her wings died down as she realized it was only making things harder to concentrate on, and for once they needed her focus. Total focus.
She felt like snake food, all wrapped up and held tightly in one place, getting a bit more frantic with each passing moment, despite preferring to avoid getting like that. Thinking straight wasn't an option if she couldn't calm down! Alright, alright, so; what was going on right now? She was trapped and tangled in this boy like a pretzel. One of her own tentacles was wrapped around one of his, tightening in response to the other's tightening, though it's own strength paled slightly in comparison. The other was wrapped around both of their wrist's now [which was apparently what she got for trying to get them to let go], while the other of his was soon wrapped around her other arm, making her just about useless and very thankful that her wings weren't pinned to her body... yet. That thought alone was enough to make her lift them off her back, to make sure she wasn't about to be pinned to them and then completely useless.
She now knew why adults swore so much. Desperately, Adhara tried to steady her breathing, the obvious 'desperate' part making it very difficult. "Are y-you sure you can't control them? Not at all?!" Adhara whimpered, anything not to yell for Noah's help, anything to do this herself, anything to get those stupid tears out of her eyes! She did her best to wipe her eyes off on her sleeves and reached for the closest of a last ditch effort; flapping like a dying pigeon in the middle of the street. It was a moment before she stopped with that, as it was doing absolutely nothing beyond making her tired after her sleepless night, something she was unused to. "Do you know how to make them let go?" she whined almost pitifully, trying to slip her hand out from the one that pinned their arms together and pulling at the one that rendered her completely useless.
The poor girl's eyes widened as she was pulled closer to Adriel, her feet pressing hard into the ground, wings flapping again, however pathetic an attempt it was to get away from this boy. Her tentacles, however, thought that this was a much better game than trying to claim both Adriel and Adhara as their own, and started bending and twisting in ways that only aided in pulling Adhara closer to the boy. This wasn't fair, and they knew it!! She wanted to meet somebody, sure, but not like this! This was too close and too... completely unwanted; by both of them, it would seem. "I'm- sorry-" she pushed out, blinking hard to keep the tears out of her amber eyes. This was just as much her fault as it was his, after all. Well, mostly it was their tentacles' fault, and they weren't about to apologize...

Adriel felt very sorry as well for the rather comprimising position they both were in. He shook his head desperately as she asked her the one question he always dreaded. He could never control them....as long as he had been aware of himself he couldn't control them. And as to the question of making them let go.... They seemed to randomly decide when they wanted to let go. There hadn't been some constant trigger.
The one tentacle wrapped up with one of her own seemed to be in a wrestling match. Trying to out strength it by sheer power. Whilst his other tentacle sternly pulled Adhara towards her. Eyes going wide he felt his forhead prickle it hurt. A lot. He closed his eyes tightly as he felt his chest press into hers.
"I..I...m s..so.....sorry..." He mewled pitiful he saw the tears gathering in her eyes and felt horrid, "P...please...d..don't...cry." He quivered as he felt more panic rising in his chest. Soon though he felt his head lean forward and he knew he was doing something he shouldn't be. But he couldn't help it.
Leaning his face forward he kissed her forhead lightly. It was a very soft gesture and it seemed to be what his tentacles had wanted him to do in the first place. As then they released her arm and untangeled itself from her other tentacle. He blinked as suddenly his own limbs seemed to have removed themselves from the girl.
Of course...he felt his face go red as he removed his lips from her forhead.
"Ah..I...I..m ...so...rry..." He stuttered wondering if the girl would hate him now.

Though it may have not been the best thing, Adhara had assumed almost upon setting her sights on Adriel, that, since the boy was older, he would have some semblance of control over his tentacles. Apparently, judging by where they were now, she'd been wrong in thinking such a thing. Her feathered wings pressed against her back once more, essentially her giving up on getting away from this strange embrace-type-thing. She snapped her eyes shut at the apology, and opened her mouth to call for her guardian, before stopping at the feel of Adriel's lips on her forehead.
Amber eyes widened suddenly, her cheeks heating up a bit at the unexpected contact. Her tentacles fell back down almost limply when released, just as surprised as her, before the one that had been squeezed so tightly nuzzled hesitantly at her hand, begging for attention to it's 'battle scars', while the other stroked her cheek a bit, as she was still staring rather blankly at the other lust child. Finally, she snapped out of her dreamstate, smiling a bit shyly at the boy in front of her, not wanting to step away, that would be rude, and not wanting to get any closer for fear of anything like that happening again.
"Don't be sorry," she said, fluttering her wings just a smidge, lifting herself about a centimeter off the ground, her fear of a moment past obviously in the past, with the moment itself. She was wary now, though, and stayed a decent distance away, even as the abused tentacle reached back toward the boy, as though wanting revenge after being injured in such a way. Adhara grabbed the tentacle in her small hand, the other one still preoccupied with stroking her cheek, comforting her [or at least trying]. "So, um..." she started, thinking a moment, before a brighter smile came to her face as she came up with something to say, completely forgetting what had just happened [at least for the time being]. "Do you like ice cream?"

Adriel looked a bit crushed, like he had done something he knew he shouldn't have done and yet did it anyway. He couldn't blame his tentacles for this one...he felt his face still hot from the embarrassed flushed. As he stood watching her stare at him a bit stunned he shifted under her gaze uncomfortably.
When he saw her tentacle reach out for him again his own responded by reaching back. As soon as she snatched hers back he did the same. He cleared his throat not sure what to say...he could apologize again....but what would that prove? The damage was already done.
He was completely thrown off as the subject of conversation suddenly turned to Ice cream...the girl looking at him like nothing had happened at all. Still holding onto his tentacles he nodded his head a bit timidly.
"Y..yeah...I do...vanilla is my favorite..with...rainbow sprinkles.." he admitted, it seemed like a really girly treat but the colored sprinkles always brightened his day.

"Uww, really?" Adhara asked with interest, sounding much happier than she had only moments ago. It seemed that she'd forgiven both Adriel and both of their tentacles by now, despite the fact that she'd still hadn't said anything aloud. Just like many other things that Noah and the rest of the world did, she had decided right then that apologies had a point in this world, but that voicing forgiveness was overrated. If you didn't forgive someone, you wouldn't talk to them; it was that simple, right?
"I like rocky road a lot, but the nuts get stuck in my teeth." She tapped a finger to one of her teeth as an example, inadvertently letting go of a tentacle that seemed to be stuck between whether to poke at Adriel or to just stay where it was and not chance something like what just happened happening again. The other one was just pressing down her dress once more where it had been wrinkled in the encounter. "I haven't actually tried that many flavours...
"Wait- do you want to get some ice cream?!" Adhi asked suddenly, a bit loudly, for that matter. She dug into a semi-hidden 'pocket', which was the upper lip of the sewn-on ribbon on her dress and pulled out about seven dollars and some odd bits of change that could very well add up to an eighth dollar; she didn't yet know how to count change all that well. "Noah gave me some money for food earlier, and I still have some left so... do you want to get some ice cream?"

Nodding his head the older boy still wondered if it was such a good thing to still be talking to her. After all both their tentacles had been rather...friendly with each other. So he held onto his tentacles tightly. They didn't resist for once. But the topic of conversation was going by so rapidly he found himself lost.
He nodded his head at the mention of nuts stuck in teeth he hated that as well and then suddenly was asked he wanted some icecream, he did. But it seemed rude to have her pay.
"Uh sure but do you want me to get you some? I can treat you. If you want you can try something new this time." He continued trying to keep to her pace of thought.

"It's okay," Adhi said with that bright smile of her's. "I have enough money, and I don't need to buy anything else, anyway." She bounced a bit on the balls of her feet. "And if you pay, then... then you have to come with me to another store, so I can get you something, too!
"And... you have to try a new flavour, too!" Adhara exclaimed happily, running her mouth in a way that didn't at all befit her childlike appearance. She reached up to tug one of Adriel's sleeves, pulling him toward the ice cream shop, already tired of the brief debate. Anyway, despite the... 'incident', she still wanted to spend more time with the first child like her that she'd met, though he was quite a bit older than she was. She only held onto Adriel's shirt as long as her tentacles were distracted, for as soon as the appendages showed even an inkling of curiosity toward the boy, she moved with her previous momentum, skipping backward to lead Adriel to the ice cream shop, where the girl behind the counter looked on the verge of scared.
"But we both have to get rainbow sprinkles," she stated with a firm nod of her head, fluttering her wings to help herself spin on the toes of one of her feet. Her small hands knitted behind her back, inadvertently closing in her tentacles' space-of-reach, and she pretended to study the menu, eyes scanning words she could not yet read. Eventually, she turned her attention to the tubs of ice cream in the cooler, seeming to have made a decision about whatever she had been 'studying'.
"I want... this one!" she said finally, pointing to something with the words 'Love Potion' in its name, which had vanilla and raspberry ice cream, and little fudge hearts full of raspberry jam. She smiled happily at the server, who looked less-than-happy to see Adhi again. "With rainbow sprinkles~!"
