Ok, I might have mentioned it in passing before... but I had said that I was going to be getting Lasik...

Well, I did, this last Thursday.

I STILL am not used to being without glasses... o.o

Now, I know that my vision may change... (according to the dr., it should heal for the better), and I've got to be especially careful of my eyes...

HOSHIT! No glasses is ******** awesome! I can seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

*grabs the nearest girl and dances.... badly, and sings badly too* n_____n

Er... ANYWAYS...

Now, seeing as how my "sunglasses" were clip-ons to my prescription glasses... I need new sunglasses... and anything other than polarized is just colored pieces of transparent plastic... o.o

So, new sunglasses... THANK YOU EBAY for cheap polarized sunglasses... in "electric blue" no less! (Sibby's favorite color is a nice, deep blue. ^_^)

Also, it's not without it's downsides... I've got to keep babying my eyes with eyedrops (being used crazily), wear the shield at night... obviously, rubbing the corneal flap that was cut, off... would be a bad, bad thing. I see halos at lights at night (or light text on a dark background), but that's easily tolerable, ESPECIALLLY considering I NEED NO GLASSES! n_n And, my eyes have blood blotches in them... o_o

Er, the technical term is "subconjunctival hemorrhage".
My eyes look a little worse than the top pic on the wiki page, (I have multiple "blotches" per eye), but not as bad as the second... (thank God!).

But, I NEED NO GLASSES!

n_n

Oh, and for those "in the know", Sibby had an "all laser procedure" done with a "femtosecond laser microkeratome" and a "wavefront guided procedure". Er, that would be "IntraLase + Wavefront guided Lasik."

o_o

so, yeah... ^_^

tl;dr

Sibby's eyes got cut and burned with lasers, and now he can see better than he could before, and with more comfort... and he LOVES it!

n_____n

Now, just gotta get the rest of my stuff moved into my apartment, and get everything set up. Then it's back off to school with my glasses-less self! ^_^

O: Did it hurt though? Hmm. But yeah, I bet it was worth it to not have to use contacts or glasses. I've been dealing with glasses for years. D: STILL HAVE THEM. But congrats on your new eyes.

There was some pain immediately after the surgery (after I woke up from the nap that I took right after the surgery), enough to where I had to have my mom help to put my first eye drops in. But that was gone an hour or two later...

Also, there was some mild discomfort during the surgery... then again, they DID blast my eyes with a laser... but actually, the "discomfort" was from the suction thingy they put on my eyes, for the cutting of the corneal flap... not the actual laser... o.o

but other than that, no pain.

Of course, other people having the same procedure may have more pain... or less... so ymmv. ^_^

Do they put you to sleep or do you have to STARE straight forward while they cut your eye open? D:

I like rubbing my eyes, kthx.

I'd like Lasik, but I don't mind glasses and contacts XD;;

I may try to get Lasik done one day when I'm much older, but for now I'll be content with my glasses and my contacts when they behave.

Though the idea of being awake while getting surgery performed on one's eyes is a bit disturbing to me. O.o

I'll never get surgery.
You scared me.
NEVER WILL I GET SURGERY. I'LL HAVE A BLIND LEFT EYE FOREVER, KTHNX.
...besides, I look cute with glasses. xD

But good for you, if you don't like wearing glasses.
I like glasses more than contacts, though.

User Imagebleck. I don't think i could ever get lasik. Needles scare the bajeebers out of me, and getting cut is terrifying. You are SO much braver than i ever could be. D: TERRIFYING.

But congrats on not having to stick contacts in or use glasses. Personally i love my contacts. They behave well and no one can even tell i'm wearing them (unless i wear them on the gravitron and they almost get knocked out from the g-force. :p )User Image

nwn My mum had laser eye surgery (s'what we call it out here), but she does need reading glasses. At this point I'm all "thank god I don't have glasses", but at the same time its like "I wonder what I look like with glasses". Beru tried putting glasses on me one time and she was all "MOOOOOOOEEEE!" xD But anywhars, congrats on the surgery being successful. nwn

EW EYE BLOTCHES ARE GROSSIE D:

Lasik is hott Sib, all the cool people get it so good for you <3

Anyone who is scared of it - if you're squirmish there are a few different procedures they do, the one I had didnt cut open my eye at all they just shot a laser at it. Its like the easiest surgery ever. And they will drug you if you're nervous. It is sooo worth it.

If I ever do get it I want the kind you got Nymphie.

Hope you're eyes heal up as good as new and you don't have halos for long Sib. The corneal flap thing always creeped me out on regular lasik. And not being able to rub your eyes, even by reflex. gonk (is an eye rubber)

Meh, it's not hard to hold the reflex back.. o.o

And the whole flap thing makes healing easier, or so I've read... o_o

And, the only reason I know that I was "cut", is because I know about the procedure... I really didn't actually feel the cut... or see it... even if it was right in front of my eyes... all I know is that when the "flap" was "lifted" for the laser to do it's thing, is that my vision got a little more blurry than usual...

Then again, this pertains only to the laser cut, some other procedures use a blade for the cut... and I'm sure that's got to be visible... o_o

Oh, and no needles, whatsoever. ^_^ (Which I like... I've actually passed out from a needle taking blood for a blood test... and I generally dislike needles... o.o)

And I was drugged too... not that it really made much of a difference other than the way my body responded... they gave me some Xanax, I sat in the chair, in the waiting part... I'm wondering if this stuff is actually gonna do anything... I get up, and my body felt really sluggish...

Maybe to keep me from fidgeting during the "surgery"? o.O( )

Oh, and doesn't it hurt REALLY bad, when they lase the cornea without doing the flap? o.O( )

Or so I've read... o_o

Indeed, you may think not rubbing your eyes would be really hard, but after attempting to rub it once you will DEFINITELY not feel the urge again until you know its healed.

Sib - It does heal easier, and a LOT faster when you cut the flap. It should take you like a day to heal right? It took my eye 2 weeks to heal. And I had to do both eyes separately so that I would be able to see during those two weeks.

I didnt see the blade the first time. I didnt even know they used a blade XD or that they used q-tips. I didnt notice anything, it was way too blurry. The 2nd time I REALLY REALLY wanted to see what they did so I concentrated REALLY hard and saw some of it. It was awesome <3

And no it doesnt hurt at all. I mean afterwards if you dont take the eye drops every time you're supposed to it hurts EXTREMELY badly. But as long as you dont have a stupid dr that forgets to tell you the eye drops are pain meds ( rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes ) there should be no pain.

Wow... uhm... other than the numbing eye drops they put in my eyes at the office... well, I got no pain ones...

I got antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops... o_o

And, though technically I could see well before I went to bed that night... it's supposed to take anywhere up to 6 months to heal fully and for vision to stabilize...

But, they're good and usuable by the next day, and I don't have worry about too much after two weeks... o.o

But I think the different types of surgery make a BIG difference in healing and pain involved... o_o

Well then... I'm keeping my glasses and getting my braces soon then. [Only uses glasses to read and do schoolwork, but other than that... xd ]

Great for MonJ *envy envy envy envy*
I have to wear glasses all the time!
...well, I like 'em, but still.
If I don't wear them, I'll start walking not in a straight line, but to my right side, because I see better with my right eye. D:
I'll eventually fall whenever that happens.
