This Guide is meant for anyone who has question about gold, such as: "What is it? Where can I get some? and What is it used for?"

Gold is the virtual currency that Gaia Online uses. It is and can be used for almost everything on gaia with the exception of the cash shop, which you have to pay real money so you can get gaia cash.

Now, how can you get some gold to spend on stuff that you really want? There are several different ways to get gold on gaia, I will start listing them:

Browsing
Browsing gold is given to you while you move about the site. Whie visiting ANY page that is on Gaia Online, you have the chance of recieving a small amount of gold.

Posting
This is one of my personal favorites. When posting in any forums, you will always recieve some gold. It starts off every day with a good amount, and as you post more during that day, the amount you recieve decreases a little.

Polls
Any time you enter a forum thread that has a poll, you can choose to vote in it or not. Voting on the poll will also give you a small amount of gold.

Games
This is a big part of making money. There are several games here on Gaia:
-Fishing --> Buy bait, catch fish, and sell them for profit.
-Pinball --> Play pinball, higher scores earn more gold.
-Puzzles --> Put together the puzzle to earn gold. Harder setting earn more gold.
-Wordbump --> Block game, make words, and get the golden blocks to the top. 3-7 gold per level + credits*
-Cards --> Play blackjack, bet and win against the dealer to earn tickets**
-Slots --> Bet tokens, pull the lever and hope to win, cash winnings for tickets**

* Credits can be traded at Edmunds Shop. At least 100 credits are required to trade.

** Tickets can be traded in at the Prize & Joy for many different prizes.

Towns
While walking around Gaia Towns, you may notice bugs*, flowers and trash laying around. Simply click on any of them to add them to your bag. But make sure you click your bag in the bottom right of the screen to add whatever you collected to you inventory by talking to the robot. These items can then be either kept, or sold in the marketplace for gold.

*Bugs can also be traded for ink at Moira's shop.

Also, the landscape is covered with trees, rocks, and bushes. Go up to any of these, and click on them when close enough to shake them. Once shaken, rocks, trees, and bushes all have a chance to drop gold, which is automatically added to your inventory.

Commenting (profiles)
Any time you visit a friend's profile, be sure to look for their "comments" section and either compliment them on their profile, or just say whats up. Just sending them a comment will earn you point just like posting. The amount of gold recieved each day at first will be good, but it will slowly decrease as you comment more and more.

Voting/Commenting (arenas*)
In the community section of Gaia, you will see the arenas, in which there are three categories, art, avitars, and homes. You may gain gold by entering any of the three arenas and either voting or commenting on the contestants in the arena. Jst as with commenting on profiles, and posting in forums, each day, you start with a good amount of gold, and it progressively gets lower as you vote and comment more.

* You may enter the arena yourself, but it costs 1,000 gold to enter. If your avitar is voted one of the highest, you can win up to 50,000 gold (1st place).
2nd --> 30,000 , 3rd --> 20,000 , 4th - 10th --> 10,000

Market Investments
This one is not recommended until you get more experienced with Gaia. What you plan to do here is buy low, and sell high. Just like investments in real life. You see what items are worth, and their trends in the marketplace, so you know when to buy/sell.

Minishops
Minishops are meade completely by gaia members. What this entails is if you are an artist, story writer, or have any other marketable skills, you can create a minishop to sell your services. Our guild supports minishops, and will be a great place to show off your skills and advertise. There is even a guide to creating your Minishop. Once you are ready, creat the Minishop in our guild's minishop forum on the main guild forum page.

Tips:
This is mainly what I do to earn money. I mainly post in the forums, and comment on profiles. All you have to do is be an active member of our community while having fun, and soon you will be posting so many things and have so many friends, money will come naturally.

And for those who like playing the games, Fishing has the most payoff, but requires commitment and a little skill. Once you get good, and spend enough time to mass up fish, it's a great payoff.
But for those of you who just want quick gold, play pinball for a while, it's quicker than fishing, but less payoff in the longrun.
