Vikali's muscles were tense as she moved across the pridelands, dragging a very small gazelle with her. Every few moments she would pause and look around, for the most part she was searching for any that would dare to steal her kill, but she was also keeping an eye out for that loathisome male rogue she'd unfortunetly bumped into a few nights past. She decided instead of confronting him she would avoid him, and that would just be easier on her mental health.
She would not be long in returning to her den, her children were still asleep she was sure. She wondered if Koy and her boy would be around, though they might have been asleep as well. It seemed for the most part her cubs had taken after 'aunt koy' in their sleeping habits, and Vikali was not too pleased with it. She reasoned that they needed extra sleep when they were so young though and let it slide more often than not.
Once arriving at her den, located near a few scrubby bush-trees, she pulled the kill into the bushes to make sure it was mostly hidden. She went to the mouth of her den to smell and listen, perhaps they had gotten up early, but it was no use. They were still asleep. She moved away a few paces from her home and slowly sat, bringing her paw to her mouth and running her tongue over it several times, cleaning her very well-kept fur. Every little bit she'd glance up, she would not tolerate her fresh kill being stolen. It was hard to feed four other mouths, often six because her best friend often decided it was good to share and she did have a cub to feed, as well. Vi had always been the better hunter, but Koy had been undenyably kinder and more generous. Anyways, it was some way she could pay her friend back.
Her thoughts wandered once again to her family, as it so often did. She had not seen her mother since she'd told her she was pregnant, the female had told her it was a mistake. It was funny how often her mother went on about strength and not letting a male get the better of you and all of that, but at the same time she had settled in with a male and had herself this family and all of that other junk. Vi rolled her eyes and shook her head, bringing up her other paw. Still, it was easier to be amused in the situation to hid the hurt from her heart, hurt that she had not seen her family in so long and had not even attempted to, because she did not want them to behave as her mother had.
