Welcome to Error. This is a sort of post apocalyptic/sci-fi roleplay, if you must categorize it. The world is in disarray--Not only from the bombs and pollution of the battle fought out between the biggest nations, but from the previous idiotic decisions of mankind, the starter for all of the smog that hangs in the air. Trash crowded the streets, the air was thick with stifling pollution, the weather and seasons switched around and messed up. Many died, leaving the huge population so much smaller. The food and clean water supply quickly ran too low to support everyone, and every big nation wanted the oil and coal for themselves, fighting over it. Everything went wrong at once. It is now much later after the war, but the effects are still monumental. There are different communities now, though, with different intents, though the main one is to survive. There are: The Underground: A set of different places underground, connected by technology, the hi-tech and advanced computers connecting all to one another. There are laws, there are those who enforce them, and there are criminals. There are always criminals. These are like the old Earth cities above ground, but now with a ceiling instead of a sky, and everything is much more advanced. Most everyone still on surface fights to go live down here. There are seven major cities--River, Land, Silver, Sun, Flame, Blue, Tree. The Villages: Small groups of people that still live above-ground, fighting to fix the world but also to survive. The Villages are spread all over the world, small communities of houses that can survive the unpredictable weather. There are not very often traveled roads between them, and many of the roads have simply disappeared. The Old Cities: These cities are mostly abandoned, save for a few inhabitants here and there. These cities stand tall, with skeletons of ancient skyscrapers stretching into the diseased sky. Skeletons of cars scatter across streets, though many have rusted away, back to the Earth. Trash litters the streets. The Wild: The spaces in between--The prairies, dead forests (Though some have life yet.), the oceans, the mountains, the deserts. - The small amount of people still left are split into different groups: Hackers/Techs: Techs are the law abiding computer experts--They keep an eye on all the energy systems, pollution levels, criminal activity, and contact between the Underground cities. The hackers are the "criminal" computer experts, who can hack into the systems and mess things up. Villagers: The people who live in The Villages above ground. Many seek ways to get down into The Underground. Nomads: Wanderers of the Earth, seeking work and food. Some make it down to The Underground, and often stay there. Others dwell in the Old Cities. Old City Residents: Those who, for some reason, choose to stay and live in the Old Cities. Some criminals escape up to here, and are not followed. They stay and live there, free from the authorities. Underground Residents: People who live in the Underground. The main transportation around the vast cities is a railway, hydro powered, hovers cars, or hover boards. Enforcement Employees: Those who work against the criminals in The Underground. They have access to all information on the computers. "Mountain" Men: Those who live in the wild, some retreating back into such deep wilderness that they can find life once again. They are often disconnected from the rest of the inhabitants of the Earth.
You get to choose one of the above--Use the character skeleton in the post below.

Jackal glanced to and fro before taking a cautious step onto the cracked pavement of an old abandoned city. Caution was to be used in these cities--Men gone mad and bloodthirsty lurked, after the throats of the unaware travelers. Most who came through didn't know this, and if one was lucky, they wouldn't find out. But Jackal knew the word, and he knew what kind of people lived here.
He adjusted his sword on his back, keeping in the shadows but also away from any open doorways or windows. It was hard to get through a city without being seen, and to go around it would take many weeks more. He knew he could just turn around and go wherever he wanted, but he'd picked east three days back and was planning to keep east until A) he found work, or B) he hit ocean. He didn't care much though. He just wandered, looking for work...
--
Klause blinked, eyes swiveling back to the door, the knock resonating quietly in his almost-empty room. Just the desk covered in tech, and his little bed stuffed into a corner. He didn't use it much anyway. He brushed a lock of silver hair from his glasses, standing up and walking to the door, carefully resting a hand on his pistol as he did so. "Yeah? Who is it?" he asked, standing to the side of the door, holding the gun, one hand on the handle.
"It's Mane, let me in, Klause." Klause evaluated the voice, glanced through to the other side, and undid the multiple locks on the door. He swung the door open, the looming figure of his previous gang leader in front of him. "How may I help you, Mane? You don't come around unless you require my assistance..." He grinned in an only minimally mocking way, letting the man into his home and closing the door behind him, locking it up.
"I've got a job for you."
