Introduction: Merediah Castle In a dimension unknown to most humans there stood a grand castle. This castle floated in place over a chasm of nothingness. A single bridge was the only thing connecting this castle to the meadow that surrounded it. Around the meadow was a forest filled with sprites, and other creatures native to the land. In the forest one could find the occasional lake or a break in the trees that opened to a cliff. And underneath it all there is a realm filled with fire and crwling with demons, that some would call the demon's realm or just the under world. All of this, the land, the skies, and even what lies underground, is Merediah
The castle in the center of all this was a place where most of the country's residents lived. Part of the castle was a school that taught students how to become muses, or any other sort of phantom. Even those who weren't sure what they wanted to be still lived here. This is where our story begins....

About The Students The students attending the Merediah University are of many different races, ranging from vampires to ghosts to goblins. They are training here to learn how to live on Earth without exposing their true natures. They will eventually be sent to Earth to live there permanently once they are deemed ready.
There are a few shutterbox exchange students who are originally from Earth here as well. These were humans who were chosen to act as a bridge to Earth for the other phantoms. Every one night they slept on Earth they would spend three nights in Merediah. These students had to take an extra test at the end of their studies to make sure that they were ready to be a bridge between the two dimensions. Passing this test resulted in permission to be a muse. Failing the test, however, resulted in death in both worlds.
Muses are basically the bridges between Earth and Merediah. When on Earth, the human muses act as ghosts, only seen by those whom they choose. They interact with the possible future muses to subconsciously prepare them for their fufure life as muses. They are careful, though, not to let the humans know of their intent nor do they allow them to know of Merediah's existence. On Merediah, they help the other phantoms understand the ways of Earth and humans.
Muses are chosen from humans who have been watched by the higher members of the school. Some of them are currently living and residing on Earth, or those who have already died.

Naoki glanced out the rain-streaked window in the hall. "Yes it's finally raining after all this sun!" she thought. She smiled revealing two pointed fangs as she shifted her book in her arm to a position where it rested on her hip. "I can finally get some enjoyment" she whispered to herself, and she began walking up a long winding flight of stairs leading to the dormitory.

Cross woke up with a jolt as he heard a person coming up the stairs. He sat up and looked around, "damn, I fell asleep in the library again.." He gathered his things and headed for the door.

Naoki glided up the stairs effortlessly, a small smile still on her face. She glanced out the window agian, the rain was falling even harder now and the little drops we streaking the window faster now. "Tonight really will be fun" she laughed to herself as she quickened her step.

Cross walked outside of the library and slumped over the railing, "whos idea was it to put the library right next to the girls dorms? -_-" He sighed and began to walk down the stairs. All of a sudden he heard rushed footsteps running up the stairs. He binked and the next time he opened his eyes he was on the floor. "aww great I ran into another person again.."

The blankets on a rather large bed where all still tucked in nicely with no sign that it had been used at all besides the small, black cat that lay curled up in the center. A slight squeak was emitted from his small body as a sigh escaped from his lips. One of his eyelids opened slightly, revealing one bright, emerald eye with a slit serving as a pupil. He yawned, stretching his paws out in front of him, his tail ruffling out behind him. He stood up onto his four paws and glanced around his room. The sound of rain dripping from the caught his attention. He moved his ear around to listen to it closer before turning his head to look. 'Aw...it's raining...' he thought to himself. He shook his entire body, fluffing his already fluffy fur out even more before he walked to the edge of the bed. He paused before jumping off the edge. While he was in mid air, both his front and back legs elongated while his body straightened out. His feet hit the ground with his brown boots. His appearance had changed quite a bit. He was now human, minus the black ears and tail, as he stood in his room. He stretched his arms out above his head before walking over to his door and opening it.

Naoki managed to catch herself by grabbing the arm of a gargoyle statue protruding from the wall. Her books fell to the floor with a thud. "Oh," she gasped " I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going. Here let me help you up," Naoki smiled timidly as she held her hand out to the boy on the floor.

Cross looked up and timidly took the girls hand. A person actually talked to me.., he thought. "No I'm sorry" he said "Im just not used to seeing people near me, they normally keep their distance" He sighed, not wanting to talk about himself anymore. "So who are you?" he asked with curiosity

Naoki smiled "I'm Naoki, I'm studying to interact with humans while being a vampire," She looked up into Cross's face and studied his makeup. "What are you here for?" she asked, curious, "I've never seen you around any of my classes,"

He shrugged, "I'm just here to learn how to interact with humans as well.." he said slowly. "I change into a dog at random times so Im trying to learn how to control it...most of the time I transform when its raining.." He slowly turned his head to look out the window beside him. "And its raining.." he mumbled

"Really! You turn in to a dog! That's awesome!" Naoki nearly shouted, her face beaming. "Oh!" she gasped, her free hand flying up to cover her mouth "Where are my manners? I didn't ask you're name." she smiled apolegetically.

Damian let out a quiet yawn as he stepped out of his room into the hallway. He glanced down either way and, not seeing anyone, reluctantly took a step out. 'How long has it been since I moved here?' he thought to himself as he began to walk down the hall, his boots making a steady clunking noise against the floor. His mouth opened once more and his hand went up to cover it as yet another yawn escaped from his lips. 'Not that long I suppose....' he answered himself as the winding hallway began to open out to a lobby-ish area. 'But this building still seems so foreign to me. I can never seem to find my way. Maybe it's because I'm half asleep right now, but this room does not look familiar...' He stepped down the staircase to the room and paused when he reached the bottom. 'Nope....not familiar...' He turned and went up the next staircase that lay directly in front of the last one and down another hall. 'If I remember correctly....this is the hall that leads to the library. But I don't know if I trust my memory enough to say that for sure.'

Just as the door thunked shut a pair of wine-red eyes opened. The owner leaned against a wall near the door. He shook his shiny raven black hair out of his eyes to see the werecat walking down the hall. "well well well," Lawfayet thought Who's this? Haven't seen this one around before. Better say hello," He pushed away from the wall, and silently walked down the hallway after Damian. His feet, silent, quickly carried him right behind the werecat. He raised hiimself up onto his toes and leaned forward so his mouth was postioned right next to Damian's ear. "Boo," he said.
