Pales carried his daughter in one arm while holding a small dress before her with a look of consideration crossed over his face. Kaveri meanwhile contented herself by having a look around with the impatient patience most toddlers have when their parents subjected them to the misery of clothes shopping.

The Nagi-tot let out a sigh and reached around the dress tugging on her guardian’s shirt, “Da’, ‘m bored.” she murmured plaintively.

The one-eyed man laughed a bit as he pulled the dress away, “Okay, I know. Just a few more minutes.

The seasons were changing and soon he’d need to think of what he needed to do for winter but he didn’t seem to worried for in all likelihood she would grow before then, thus it would render any preemptory shopping useless.

"Do I have to wear this?" Artemis hissed at her mom as they entered the clothing store. Such a public place to be seen in such... could they be called clothes?

"Oh be quiet, the second we find you a new outfit you can change for the remainder of the shoping." Ari smirked, "Plus it isn't like it was my idea for you to grow so fast that we couldn't even get you clothes." Ari waved Artemis over to a rack of discounted and three season back clothes.

Artemis winced as she pulled down the t-shirt 'dress' her mom had made her wear. Knowing her mom was hopeless she looked around and darted off into a stack of clothes and came out with a nice skirt and t-shirt. "Now this is what I am talking about." She started to run over to her mom, but found herself momentarily delayed by running into a dark haired man.

He blinked a bit in shock of the sensation of something bumping into him that was shorter than he. He almost dropped the dress before he could put it away but he managed to keep a firm hold on it and all he did was stumble and jostle his daughter a bit.

Eek!” the small nagi-shouted in shock of the sudden sensation of movement, her tail-tip swinging side-to-side a bit in her dismay. She peered down toward the child and blinked a bit, “Heeey?” She didn’t sound angry or put-out by this turn of events, it was actually an appreciated break from the monotony.

Pales meanwhile regathered himself, "Yo-you okay?" the question was directed toward the girl that had run into him.

Art shook her head trying to realign herself before she bowed, "I'm so sorry sir." She repeated the words that Ari had taught her to say before she heard him ask if she was alright, which caused her to look up at his concerned face, "I'm fine." Her eyes drifted over to what he was holding. It was a cute dress, if too small for her.

But a guy wouldn't be buying- oh.

She saw the little girl in his arms. "Oh! Such a cute little... girl?" She trailed off as she saw the tail the adorable girl was sporting, "Hey Mister, is that a tail?" Art asked, honestly curious.

Pales nodded as he accepted the apology given by the girl before him and just watched her to see what she was going to do. Most children didn’t take much time to take note of what or who he held in his arms but this girl appeared to be a bit different.

He chuckled and nodded, “Yes, she’s a girl. Her name is Kaveri. She is a ... Naga. She doesn’t have legs, or rather her tail is her legs...” Pales bent, and let the toddler onto the ground as Kaveri was starting to squirm about now. The dress he was holding ended up draped over his forearm.

Kaveri was shorter than the other girl, naturally, as she was younger than her. The Nagi’s method of standing was to coil her tail a little underneath herself so as to give herself a firmer stance. Now that she was down she didn’t know what to do. The naga’s small hands twisted at the hem of her dress somewhat anxiously.

Artemis squatted slightly to get a better look, "I have never heard of a naga before..." She explained to the man as she examined the girl and how she was sitting. She felt an affinity for the girl immediately, after all in the temples they had many snakes all over the place.

"She must be a beloved of Istar" Artemis decided out loud as she waved to the girl, "I'm Artemis! Istar likes me too." It was an odd introduction, but for Artemis it seemed fine. So few people she found in the day she had been older, actually knew about the wonder that was the goddess Istar. To meet a girl who was half snake was almost a sign onto the moon child that Istar had not left the world at all.

Kaveri simply stared curiously at the other girl and listened to what Artemis said with her head canting from side to side. “Istar?” Her small voice lilted questioningly. It sounded pretty whatever that was and if she was favored by it, well she liked it already! If the other girl is favored by it as well. That was just another reason why to be friendly to her.

A-A-Arrt...em...is?” Kaveri said softly as she tried to speak the name of the girl.

Pales tilted his own head and then he nodded, “I’m Pales D’Arcy.” he said by way of introduction and then he began to glance around himself. “Where’s your parent?

"Right Istar!" Artemis nodded as the girl said the name perfectly. She looked up at the man who had introduced himself, "Hello mr D'Arcy." She acknowledged him before she looked around, "My mom?" she looked back up at the guy, "She ought to be here in three two on-"

"Art! What are you doing!" Ariel chided her as she came running up, "Don't just talk to strangers!"

"But he isn't a stranger! He is Mr. Pales D'Arcy and his daughter is blessed by Istar-"

"Art sweetie," Ari knelt by Art and held her head, "Make mommy a promise, don't talk to people I don't know ok?" she smiled and waited for the reply.

"But mom she's-" Artemis pointed at the small toddler.

"Promise me Artemis." Her voice became stern.

Art sighed, "I promise." she grumbled as Ari stood up and faced the gentleman and his daughter.

"I'm sorry about my daughter, we are still learning the strangers lesson, and the not running away from mom lesson." She smiled, embarrassed.

Pales startled a bit as the mother-figure suddenly appeared and then began lecturing her daughter. He blinked his single eye a time or two and then smiled a little in amusement. Indeed it was probably wrong with him to speak with her, it got her in trouble, after all. Even though he had a child of his own.

Kaveri slithered closer to her guardian and took his pant-leg into a hand and stared at the interaction between mother and daughter with some interest.

When he was addressed by the woman Pales raised a hand and waved it dismissively, “It is alright. I had, after all gotten in her way. Plus she was talking mostly to my daughter until I asked her where her mother was.” he grinned a harmless sort of grin while also gesturing down at the small naga-toddler down by his legs.

No harm no foul.

Artemis didn't like this one bit. The adults sounded like they were going to be parting. She sneaked behind her mom and over to the naga-girl and waved and smiled at her. She wasn't talking, and that was all she promised her mom.

"Well I'm glad that everything is now squared away, and I hope you and your daughter have a good day," She bowed slightly, a habit from living around asia for a few years, as she turned to get Artemis to try on some clothes. "Art how about this dress instead?" Only to find Art was no longer behind her.

She was over near the naga child. 'this was easier when you couldn't move fast' she thought to herself as she smiled at the man feeling like a complete idiot...

Kaveri giggled softly at Artemis' antics as she found the other girl next to her. "'Temis!" Kaveri said cheerfully holding out a small hand to the older girl as if to also make a stand against the other girl leaving far too soon. The dark haired one had many interesting words and things to say she wanted to hear more.

Pales glanced from mother to the now transported child with light amusement, "Seems as if the girls refuse to part. Maybe we can compromise? You two get done what you need to get done and we can share a lunch together. We'll even shop with you guys a bit, since I need to get my daughter some new clothes or two." The one eyed man offered the suggestion humbly. It would give the girls time together that they seemed to want.
