Belive it or not, four students this year are trying to get into Kamehameha. The problem? they have no Hawaiian blood. Thought the case was over? It has only begun. What do you think? I Kamehameha really a racist school or just a school running upon Bernice Pauahi's will?

For me, even though I have no Hawaiian blood, I say no.
Kamehameha is NOT a racist school. And anybody that has no Hawaiian blood in them that are trying to get in, are fools.
Hawaii was taken over in an unfair way. Many Hawaiians died of diseases that came from the foreigners, and unlike Native Americans, Hawaii is small, in which, those foreigners killed many Hawaiians by just small diseases that didn't affect the foreigners that much. Many horrible things have happened to people of Hawaiian blood.
I think people should be happy about their Hawaiian heritage and that there is a school just for that. I think Hawaii and people with Hawaiian heritage should deserve this school which only allows people with Hawaiian blood in.
F*** the people that think that Kamehameha is a racist school.
That is my thoughts.

Being of Hawaiian Ancestry and a sophomore at Kamehameha. I have to say that Kamehameha is not rascist. In fact the will states that it's Hawaiian FIRST not Hawaiian ONLY. This was made just in case the Hawaiian race died. The people trying to get in are unaware of the history of the school. Kamehameha is what kept and is keeping the Hawaiian people together. What do these people want to do by destroying what many Hawaiians have fought for? I worked my butt off to get there in 2006. I had to fight againts every Hawaiian child on Kauai to get where I am. It's not fair to give people who don't fufill the requirements of the will. I know many of my friends on Kauai is broken hearted for not getting accepted. Putting Haoles in the school would break them even further. that's what I feel.

I can't believe this is going on again.Kamehameha schools and Princess Pauahi don't deserve this.I mean come on, what will these four kids get out of going to a Hawaiian school? What sure if they do get in they'll be famous from it but another thing?I know they'll get shunned.I mean look at it.So many hawaiians get tryout for this school and to see haole's being accepted in just because they're trying to sue the school is just barbaric.I for one have tried for this school and not gotten in but there are other school out there for these kids to go to.We don't need them to make us feel anymore down graded than we already get from the rest of them.

No they won't be shunned. They'll think that they're hot stuff like Mohica-Cummings. And look at him, he abused his spot as the only haole to entered the school in ages and got kicked out. he knew we'd dislike him, he tried out for Football and Water polo. he got creamed, H-E-A-V-I-L-Y! then he smoked pot, and got kicked out. but what Hime said is true. It's unfair to all of the other Hawaiians who've been tried to get in the school for ages. The school turns down over 64800 Hawaiian students each year. only 5200 are in the school. Everyone had to fight those many kids to get in. It would be totally unfair

Wow i didn't know all those things about him.I mean i knew he was kicked out but i didn't know he smoked and tried out for the football and water polo team.Jeez I don't understand white people.I mean no offense but it really pisses me off that some of them come here and act all superior.Lke how they're sueing Kamehameha because they only accept Hawaiians.I don't know what goes on with the education since I've never gone to Kamehameha, only for summer programs, but seriously.Do they want to try and disgrace our Princess just like how they disgraced our lands?

Well that's putting it a little too harsh. but yea. Also unknown to the public, Mohica was found out to not be hawaiian two weeks before school had started. they said they found out while he was IN school. BULL! The mom said that it would be unfair for him to go back to Kapa'a (back in 2003 kapa'a was the only Kauai school to start in July) ONE week after Kapa'a had started. I went there in my 6th grade year. I learned more things in a day here at Kamehameha than a whole week in Kapa'a. he wouldn't be too far behind. But the mom made a fuss and the schools had to let him in (due to lawsuits). To answer your question, it's not they want to destroy us, it's that they don't know the deep history bound to our school and our lands. they are blind to the truth. They are only in it for the pride, and to have the ability to say "HEY WORLD, I GOT INTO A SCHOOL THAT HAWAIIANS ARE ONLY ALLOWED IN, AND I'M NOT HAWAIIAN!!!" It's that simple.

This is my point of view:
Kamehameha is a private school. They can admit who they want. You don't see any girls running around suing St. Louis for sexism. =/
And that new lawsuit about the 4 kids seems like crud. I mean, he's not giving up any names or info on these kids (last time I checked). How do we know they even exist? =/
And if they do, how do we know they were turned down for not being Hawaiian? There are tons of other ways to get turned away! Turning in paperwork late, not passing the entrance exam, not enough teacher recommendations, even messing up the interview! and those are just a few ways.

you got a point mia. But obviously they aren't in the school. because if they were accepted then we'd see them right now. obvious they didn't get in.

Topic update! The case is still going on, as you may or may not know. There students there are some John Doe and Jane Does here. They have to give their names to the lawsuit in order for the trial to continue. if not they have to drop the charges.

I might have heard of this a while back but there have been so many court issues with Kamehameha that I can't remember them all. I remember there was this haole who got in by lying about his blood. I do agree however that it should not be a school available to everyone due to the queen's wishes but I think that people who understand and respect the Hawaiian culture and have lived here all their lives should at least have a chance of getting in. I may be a Jap by blood but not by heart. In closing Kamehameha is not a racist school period.

I believe they can admit whoever they want and turn away whoever they want just as long as it is lawful by US and Hawaii State Law and they DON'T use my taxpayer money! A local all girls school recently enrolled 16 male students. I don't know the test outcome of these kids or their interviews so I can't coment on any particular case. I do want to say though, that any College for that mater who has place cards for acceptance based solely on race is inethical. Inuit children get $2,500 from the government every month to say sorry for the "Trail of Tears". Should blacks for having been slaves? Should the Japanese for the Inturnment!?!?
