Ok, so I have a boyfriend. And he's this amazing guy. We were having a conversation, and the subject of religion came up. Me of course, am a Christian. And being a Christian is very important to me.
I suppose my first mistake was I assumed that he too was a Christian. Well, no he isn't. He's not quite an atheist, but very close to one. And I am very worried about him. I love him, and I don't want him to go to hell.
I want to teach him the Christian ways, and open his eyes to Christ, but I'm not sure how exactly to get through to him. I don't want to push him away either. I also don't want him to feel as if he is forced into believing because of me.
Any suggestions on how I can help him to see? Any advice you could give me? I appreciate any help.

My advice? He knows your a Christian, so act like Christ. Don't start up any conversations about "getting saved." Let him see that you care about him as a friend, not as a "OMG your agnostic (Most likely waht he is by your descrepition) get saved before you go to hell!" No, that should be no one's mentality.
So if you are kind to him and act as Christ would, he will se the light of Christ in you. Let him come to you and ask you, so then you know he is ready. You following me?

Yeah, I see what you are saying. I'm just worried about him. And I'd really like him to see the ways of Christians, but I don't want to pressure him into it.

I think you should just talk to him about why he believes what he believes and then tell him why you believe what you believe. Please do not try to force it on him. That will piss him off so much. It will not end well. Just let your boyfriend know that you love him regardless of his beliefs, but love him so much that you're scared for his soul. Tell him exactly how you feel. That's the best way to go.

Have you asked yourself whether he wants to be converted? I mean, to care about someone is to put their feelings before your own. He respects what you believe. You can respect what he believes (or disbelieves).

Try to put yourself in her place and yet still keep your perspective and she what she is trying to say. She's mindlessly trying to convert this person because turning people to Christ because it's on her to do list but because, she loves this person and because of her "particular" beliefs in an afterlife she is trying to save him...according to her beliefs thats is.

Galad was totally in his right to say that. It was not offensive nor a narrow-minded statement at all. What it was, though, is his own opinion which he is very much entitled to. If you would like to start pointing fingers at who is narrow-minded here, I think you better take a nice long look at yourself.

I'm not saying that I haven't said anything in the past that hasn't sounded like it, or done anything or even that I don't still have some cleansing to do. But it did kinda sound like it to me. You'll then excuse me if it sounded otherwise to you or any others.

You'll pardon me now thinking about it I think I confused you with someone else in this guild or at least I think so... I still stand on my whole look at it from her point of view thing though. But I guess that would be towards any narrow thought processes.
