The PLOT

User Image

As the furthest clan from Loki, Hreidmar had been the last to hear of the infamously dubbed “Cerberus’ Announcement.” There had been the trickling of rumors the night before that someone was audaciously plotting a rebellion against the Nobles, but most Hreidmar residents had brushed it off as another silly plan by a hopeless idealist.

But early the next morning, confirmation came from one of Brynhild’s very own that Cerberus had indeed spoken of his plans for rebellion in Loki the day before. After all, who wouldn’t believe the words when it came from Cerberus’s own blood relation?

This is an Open RolePlay, so anyone can post in this thread.

Follow the plot given up - don't make up your own stories. And this should be a clan-wide debate, so you should try to interact with the others as your fafner would under the circumstances.

The only requirement that the Fafner you post with is part of the Hreidmar clan or has a very good reason to be here (such as whole families wanting to be together). Otherwise, please post in threads that have been set up for your specific clan.

After hearing the news of Cerberus's idiotic actions the day before, Tora had quickly decided to seek the advice of Chippy before the problem got out of hand. That half-brother of hers had already ignited a heated argument among her clan, especially with such pro-aristocratic believes such as Andi. If the Nobles didn't take matters into their own hands, no doubt the more aggressive traditionalists would.

So now early in the morning, Tora was pacing back and forth in front of Chippy's hut, having woken him up with her loud ranting. "That fool! Does he know the trouble he has caused with the Nobles? He’s practically given them the perfect reason to storm into Loki now," Tora grumbled as she paused and started pawing at the ground in annoyance. Her tail flicked from side to side as she continued to mumble nonsensical curses under her breath.

"I wonder what Stel's going to think about all this..." Tora clearly had no idea that Stelmaria had been the cause of the so-called 'uprising.' Then again, nobody but the Keeper herself knew, and Andvare only knows that the spotted fafner was probably snickering to herself at the trouble she'd caused. And by a single, simple challenge, no less.

"I really don't see a problem," Chippy ventured as he shrugged, watching the other fafner dig a deeper hole into the ground. "Someone was bound to bring our problems to the attention of the Nobles sooner or later."

Tora stared at the male, not sure if he was joking around or not. The implications of supporting Cerberus would be very serious, if not detrimental to one's own life. "Cerberus is from Loki, dear. He doesn't even know what the Nobles have been doing. He doesn't even live under Noble rule."

"But if what I've heard is true, he's pretty much correct in his assumptions. The Nobles have been taking more from us with each passing year, and with our quickly growing populations, we cannot afford to lose so much. What do the Nobles do for us, really?"

Tora had to admit, she had no response to that question. What did the Nobles do? All they seemed to be doing was setting rules that the commoners had to follow and they themselves did not. Now that she thought about it, that didn't seem very fair. "But that's not the point! The point is the Nobles still have power."

Chippy snorted and stood up from where he had been lying on the ground. "Well, I'm sure that many fafners would support Cerberus in his crusade. I know I would!"

Unbeknownst to the pair, other fafners had started gathering around once they heard that Tora had brought news of Cerberus's announcement, listening to the debate from both sides. Did they agree and support Cerberus's cause, or were they traditionalists that didn't want things to change?

A yawn protruded from the mouth of an unusually marked female. Just as usual somehow a number of flowers and leaves had littered her hair, she either seemed to have not noticed or not cared, no one could entirely be sure. Just as unusual as she was, she had figured out a system of painting herself before hunts so that her lightning marks couldn't be seen by her prey. So now she was bathing herself in a river, enjoying the soothing notions it brought over herself.

Just as Nalaehi jumped out to shake off the excess water, she began to drag her kill back toward the camp when she heard the mutterings of other fafner. So... Cerberus finally did it, eh? She couldn't help but chuckle to herself. He was surely an idiot, a brave idiot, but one nonetheless. It showed perhaps more tact than she could manage though, pretending to be faithful to a rule she cared nothing about. Still, she wasn't exactly the type to put lives in danger because of her philosophical views.

Passing by Tora and Chippy, she managed a brisk smile in their direction. For anyone who knew her well it probably wouldn't be that far of a stretch to realize where her loyalties lay, but then again, Nalaehi had always been somewhat of an enigma and knowing that... well, there was a reason she was always alone. "Morning." She murmured without knowledge of the real time, she seemed to get lost when hunting, still she was taught to be polite.

The dark child had left the hut of his mother to 'play' outside that day. Of course his idea of playing really consisted of talking to other fafner, with no actual playing happening. The only time he really ever played was when he was with his sisters, Kearie, Akira, and Vanity. Kearie lived in Brynhild though, with his father Tatsuya. It was under Tatsuya's example that Zahir followed, liking his teachings of being a gentlemen and noble of sorts.

His red eyes scanned the area, and he noticed that a group had formed around the hut he knew belonged to a fafner named Chippy. "What's going on?" He asked himself, wondering curiously what everyone in the clan would be gathering for. The child could hear two fafner having a debate, and it seemed the nearer he got to the crowd the more distinct some of their mumbling was.

"Well, I'm sure that many fafners would support Cerberus in his crusade. I know I would!"

Cerberus...I know that name, it's been on the tips of tongues for a while now hasn't it? I've heard it sprinkled here and there in conversations. But...what was it that he was doing? Leading a crusade? For what? The small fafner thought, his brows furrowed in concentration as he tried to make his way through the gathering crowd. For some children this would be boring and hard to understand, and they'd probably rather go off and play some silly games with each other. Zahir on the other hand found it quite interesting, and he looked around to see if he knew anyone gathered there.

Nope, not even his mother, Moonlight, was there. Perhaps she didn't know about this, or would come later? There was one female that he did recognize, with her black pelt and lightning striking across the black canvas she was difficult to miss. The child hadn't yet talked to her, but he seen her around before. Zahir really didn't know what she was about or why she was always alone, but he did think she would be interesting to talk to and get to know non-the-less.

Ivanna watched a small, black pup come trot towards her. He was brimming with such a smile for a goth. Then he must have heard as well... "Sirius! What's up, lil guy?"

Sirius gave a wide grin, and chirped. "Well, I heard that....Well...." He couldn't tell her... She'd tell his stepfather, and he'd be in trouble. "Nothing."

She laughed, and stretched her wings. "You heard the conversation and want to join the You-Know-What, right? Man, Sirius, you sure are very readable when you're happy." Sirius gulped. This would be the end of his freedom... his ears drooped, until Ivanna chuckled. "Don't worry, your secret's safe with me. I'll just say you're on a small vacation with Kaye, and that'll get him. If he finds out anyway, he'd be proud....*stretches* He always was the rebelious kid of the family."

Sirius smiled as Ivanna pushed him with her head, letting him sprinting back to the direction of where he heard the conversation, only to bump into Zahir.

Chiron had been preening his big bushy tail when he had seen everyone starting to gather. He wasnt excatly near and so he couldnt hear what was being said, still it did make him curious as to what was going on. He loved to be clean at al times, he always just thought it best since he was a healer and so clenliness should come with the job. He finished preening his now fully clean and fluffed tail and made his way to the edge of the crowd.

He could hear thet those around him were talking about some fafner from Loki who was speaking up against the Nobles rule. Chiron had never met a noble and had no love for their laws, but he feared the unrest that would come with an uprising. As a healer he was sure he would be usefull if a battle did rear its ugly head but he didnt want to have to use his skills like this. He enjoyed healing the minor cuts and wounds that came his way, but on a battlefield he would be forced to preform Triage* medicine and he was not looking forward to that.

He preddes himself further into the gathering, he wanted to hear everything, maybe it didnt have to be war, maybe he could heal those who wanted to leave, get them in the best shape possible so they would survive their journey and maybe make it to their own kind of freedom. He leaned in closer he had to learn more about what was happening.

Note: Triage (I dont know if I'm spelling it right) is what army medics have to do AKA using what you have around you to get the job done.

Tora could only stare at Chippy's outright claim to support Cerberus and that idiotic crusade of his. Sure, she agreed with a good portion of the arguments but the dangers were inexplicable! Who knows what the Nobles could and would do? And the Sentinels were said to be trained by the Chevaliers themselves, and although she wasn't there during the "clanwars", she really didn't want to see what they were capable of doing. The protectors were feared for a reason, and she wasn't too fond of finding out why - especially firsthand.

"But you don't know Cerberus like I do... he's an idiot," she snorted softly, though Tora could see that nothing she said would move Chippy from his pick of the fight. He could be such a stubborn fafner sometimes! She sighed and looked around, finally noticing that they had quite the audience about them. Oh, this was not good... and there were children around too!

A dark fafner with bright violet markings made her way towards the pair and greeted them, though Tora was a little wary of the other fafner's intentions. She was a Brynhild fafner and knew few of the ones in Hreidmar since Chippy had a tendency to keep to himself. And given the circumstance to which why she was here, Tora had to be on guard. You could never tell just by looking if someone would be on your side.. or not.

"Good morning," Tora replied politely, for that was what she had been taught to do. No matter how much she may dislike or distrust someone, it was always best to stay on their good side. Just in case and all. But the question now was what this female fafner had heard so far, if anything. Best thing to do now was to pretend that nothing was wrong... make small talk! Yes, great idea. Tora noticed that she had a recently killed prey and assumed that this fafner was a Hunter. "How was your hunt?"

"Well... for the most part." Nalaehi gave a swift smile in the female's direction as she drug the kill close. She would have to bring it up to the Noble's. But for now that would take time and she was a little too interested in the turn of events coming to play out before her. "And how has your morning been so far?" She decided to keep up the small talk though her eyes were scanning the crowd that had seemed to gather over the growing topic. She spied a winged female, a strangely tailed male and at least two pups. Indeed, something had begun...

"I'm Nalaehi." She sat up proudly as she addressed any of them that might provide conversation, not forgetting the girl she had been conversing with. "Who might all of you be?" Of course, she had seen a number of them around on occasion, especially the flower marked boy, however, she still didn't know any of their names. She supposed that was the plight of keeping to herself.

User Image The male fafner half-dozed quietly under the shadow of a tree. He was up since dawn and well, he had trouble falling back asleep once he was awoken. His pointy eyes perked at the sound of the two fafner arguing and snorted to himself the possibility of a rebellion.

His eyelids were gummy but he managed to pry them open enough for a narrow front view. His tail swished lazily about and he shook his mass of midnight blue tresses. Some ladybugs decided to make a nest in his locks. If anyone have seen ladybugs mate then it is humorous. A mass orgy of spotted beetle-like creatures romping. He snorted with laughter and got onto his feet. His paws twitched at the tingling texture of the grass. He eyed the other fafners carefully with their strange but dazzling patterns and markings on their fur especially the one with hypnotizing lightning streaks.

"Hmm..." Jared pondered to himself. He edged away from his tree and plopped his behind right back down again and watched the two children play.

Ah Innocence, he thought. Pity...Do the Nobles children behave like this? His ivory chest puffed out as he inhaled the crisp air. His mind's gear clicked and clacked all of the information and processed the following:

This is a dilemma that has confounded past but also future generations of his kind. His stormy eyes squinted at the intensity of the sun's ray and he has found one ending to be true.

He pondered....the traditionalists versus the rebels. The traditionalists long for stability while the rebels leaned towards radical change. All and all blood will be split. Both sides will think of themselves as good whilst the other evil. But the fact of the matter is...it is simply them or us

He smiled sadly to himself and positioned himself for now in the middle where he would be alone because that is what happens when one does choose a side, neither side will protect you. He will merely watch and if his hut/tree/food supply/area is infilitrated...yes he will fight back but not to the point where it is a chain reaction. He would not drag anyone else into it as SOME are doing now with their blind sighted preaching.

Jared's head bobbed at his philosophical musings before lunchtime and chuckled.

User Image The light tinkling of a chain signals yet another joining the small group speaking. Shun keeps his distance still though, only remaining within hearing range of the huntress and the Brynhild healer as they hold their own conversation. Idly glancing down at the chains neatly wrapped around his forelegs, he wondered just who he should ask if this news about Cerberus and rebels really was true. The healer Tora seemed a good candidate, but she was busy and it was rude to interrupt a private chat.

A quick glance around showed him some children playing, the lightning marked female, fluffy tailed healer, and winged female all not too far from his current location. Sweeping a glance to the other side he sees a male hunter he hadn't remembered meeting before. Ah, but then again he kept to himself most of the time after his failure in the quest to become a craftmaker. Among the clan he was the only one without a job, a task to mark him as having a purpose. Now what would not having a job end with if this coming battle between Nobles and Rebels were to come about, he rather did not think of it.

Shaking such musings from his head he stands again with another chain's tinkling to walk to the hunter slowly
. "Excuse me, hunter sir."

The morning's been... interesting," Tora replied carefully to the Hunter, shifting her weight from side to side in a nervous habit. She looked around and noticed that more Fafners were gathering closer, though she couldn't begin to explain why. Were they simply attracted by the commotion, or had they heard the news? Tora briefly pondered if any of the Fafners here were as traditional as some of the ones back home - she was hoping to avoid another heated debate.

"I'm Tora of Brynhild," she answered the femme that had asked. Tora wanted to say more to keep any possibility of the conversation reverting back to the uproar caused by Cerberus, but unfortunately for her, Chippy was starting to grow impatient and annoyed.

"We're all from Hreidmar, I'm sure we all know each other," Chippy interrupted before anyone else could fall into rounds of small talk. He ignored Tora's indignant look and her intentional whipping his side with her tail. She could try to avoid it all she wants, but he certainly wanted to get things out in the open. "I'm sure you've all heard of what's been happening on the other side of the Isle, Cerberus and his plans to rebel..."

Chippy paused as he looked around the group, checking for any positive or negative reactions. Hreidmar had almost as many Fafners as the other clans but far less territory, though he had to admit they did not fall on as hard times as Brynhild during the winter. Still, he had no doubt that some of these Fafners would agree with Cerberus and his ways. For those that didn't, he'd simply have to talk some sense into them.

Jared cleared his throat sheepishly and focused his strained gaze to the oddly armored before him. He rapidly blinked several times in response to the the other male fafner. He quickly shuffled through the chains and pondered whether it was an accessory or a literal manifestation of punishment.

"Believe me, clansman that I am no sir", his tenor voice resonated. His gray eyes lit up with amusement. "Though gratitude is in means. Jared nodded to himself. He rose from his haunches, his tail swishing away any dirt from his bottom. His body inclined forward to further narrow the distance. His slender muscles rippled as he jogged several tentative steps to the armored fafner.

"Hmm...no motivation to join the fine talkings of war?" He lowered his nose a few centimeters to the ground. Jared inclined one ear to the other fafners mainly towardsthe brown hunter and blue Brynhild. Though he kept his attention to the male before him, his mind once again churned its ancients parts.

The little imp called annoyance danced its jig on his frontal lobes and Jared somehow wanted so badly beat the agitators with a rubber mallet. Snip off the source of the infection and the rest will follow. Oh drat, he beat himself mentally due to his mind wandering once again. So many many things to brood about....

"Chainsman? No please, call me Shun." A quick glance towards the others nearby he turns back to the hunter male before him. Shifting his weight a little to another tinkling of metal against metal he remains where he is. "No, sir, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name.. I'd rather not think of such a thing happening at all. I am not one for such talk, fighting is such a.. sad event."

Though he couldn't help but wonder, if choosing sides ever came down to it, who really would h join with? They both had good reasons to fight for their causes, and he certainly wouldn't want to get dragged into any fighting if he could manage it.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:01 pm

"So rude!" Tora chided her mate, nudging him aside with her shoulder. He gave a growl of protest but she ignored him, annoyed that he had the audacity to speak of such a delicate matter so boldly. Recalling the debate that had occurred just yesterday in Brynhild, she was not looking forward to an encore. The issue could certainly bring out the worst in everyone, causing once docile Fafners to turn on each other.

"Don't try to keep this under wraps," Chippy scoffed, looking around at the gathered Fafners. He turned his attention to two particular males speaking with each other, the purplish blue and the pink armored. The latter mentioned fighting as a sad event, and Chippy spoke up in response. "Fighting is necessary when you want change. Nothing will change if we sit back and do nothing."

Tora rolled her eyes in exasperation. This was really starting to feel like deja vu, another spark to an unending argument that would no doubt lead to some nasty words. How pleasant. But she really didn't want to involve herself in another debate, and Chippy probably wouldn't listen to her even if she argued against him. Actually, he didn't even listen when she told him to shut up. What a mean Fafner, he was to her.
