The PLOT

User Image

One peaceful morning, a little challenge erupted between two of the most popular fafners of the clan - not that anyone else knew about it. Stelmaria was always very good with quiet manipulation. But perhaps even she did not know the consequences that would entail from her seemingly innocent challenge.

For Cerberus had unwittingly throw himself into a political discussion with his young follower, Stryder. In pointing out the problems that many of the fafners currently faced, he quickly but surely rallied supporters to his unofficial cause. And his ranting of rebellion spread across the Isle like an uncontrolleable fire, appealing to the population's deepest desires of freedom and wealth.

This is an Open RolePlay, so anyone can post in this thread.

Follow the plot given up - don't make up your own stories. And this should be a clan-wide debate, so you should try to interact with the others as your fafner would under the circumstances.

The only requirement is that the Fafner you post with is part of the Loki clan or has a very good reason to be here (such as whole families wanting to be together). Otherwise, please post in threads that have been set up for your specific clan.

Which Side Are YOU on?!

There comes a day in a fafner's mundane life when he must stand tall and strong for what he believes: the greater good. One such fafner was not Cerberus.

Previous that day, Cerberus, our favorite and most popular fafner, had found himself in a heated debate (aka childish name-calling) with the resident healer, Stelmaria. The two had found themselves differing strongly in opinions. Stelmaria believed she had more influence over the residences of Loki while Cerberus claimed he had the popular vote. They decided to settle their dispute with the most logical solution possible. Cerberus had to rally enough fafners behind him to support his cause (which had not been determined yet).

Cerberus sat on his 'thinking rock' to decide how to go about rallying other fafnerians and towards what cause? Saving Serpins from extinction, maybe? Ending hunger Andvari-land wide? It was just too hard to decide.

"Hey, Cerberus, think of anything yet?" Came the familiar voice of Stryder. Cerberus had previously ranted to the younger fafner about Stelmaria's challenge. Not waiting for an invitation, the blue fafner sat down before the rock with a thoughtful expression. "I really don't get why you bother Stel all the time."

Cerberus rolled his eyes. "Children wouldn't understand the complicated emotions and logic of an experience adult like myself. Now, run along and go play with your siblings."

Styder rolled his eye. "It's because the nobles favor her, isn't it? Don't think I don't know. You always complain about them even though they haven't done anything."

"Exactly!" The striped fafner stood on his rock, irritated by the younger generation's relaxed view of the order of things on Andvari. Subconsciously, his started raising his voice. "They don't do anything yet the nobles think they can come in and change lives whenever they deem it necessary."

Oblivious to Cerberus's growing irritation, Stryder gave the idea a thought before pressing on. "Change how? They haven't done much… in fact; I haven't seen them in Loki at all."

"Loki is too new to know of their damned history. Our clan is just beyond their reach and I'm going to keep it that way. Don't you ever visit the other clans? The fafners of the other clans are much worst off than us. Nearly half of their food is offered to the nobles on a monthly basis and with their population growing faster than ours, their clans are starting to wear themselves out."

"Half?!" Loki pays their own share directly to the royals since a noble family had never ruled over the small clan. They only place just under a quarter of their goods off to the side as their monthly payment. Stryder was slightly bewildered. "How come I never knew this and how do you?"

"You second generations are too sheltered mostly growing up in Loki. Many of the older fafners here fled from other clans into this rich valley. We never expected--"

"Expected what?"

"They're planning to place a noble family in charge of Loki soon. Our supply is just enough to manage the population. If the payment doubles…." Cerberus's expression darkened and his voice clear and lifting. "I'm not taking this lying down."

Unknown to Cerberus, fafners of Loki had started gathering around him to see what all the commotion was about.

The day before, Stardust had been watching the childish affairs of Stelmaria and Cerberus - not an uncommon occurrence for those who live in Loki. But to an outsider, it must've seemed incredibly odd for two such respected fafners to be insulting each other like babies. Stardust found this all very amusing, like she always did, and sat herself down on the sidelines with a leaf of ripe berries.

The next day, the happenings of yesterday completely forgotten, Stardust wandered through the small village of her clan in search of her son. Stryder had a tendency to run off and shirk his duties, and his Huntmaster had come to her for the dozenth time, threatening to remove her son from the rank if he kept missing his shifts. Not that she really cared since he probably wouldn't complete his task no matter where he went to work. And in the worst case scenario, he might accidentally heal a fafner to death as a Healer. Now that was a horrifying thought.

There was a small gathering in the court, which wasn't too strange since the Speaker often gathered the children there for storytelling and songs. What caught Stardust's eyes was the adult fafners present, but she couldn't see past the audience to look at what had caught their interest. Again, not something that interested her, so she continued on her quest to find her delinquent son. Or she would have had she not heard an all familiar voice.

"Stryder?" she mumbled to herself, eyes narrowing suspiciously as she tried to peek through the throng of fafners. Then came that all too annoying voice of Cerberus, who Stryder had decided to dub his idol. What a silly pair they made, but there was nothing Stardust could do to thwart her son from following the footsteps of an idiot. And that appeared to be what he was doing right this minute...

Making her way through the fafners as politely as she could (which wasn't very), consisting of a painful nudge here and a hard push there, Stardust finally found herself at the front of the spectacle. There was Cerberus, ranting nonsensically to Stryder about Noble this and payment that. She listened with a raised eye, surprised that Cerberus had taken Stelmaria's challenge so seriously. But to rally the fafners against the Noble? What was he, stupid? ...well, they'd already established that.

"Are you suicidal?!" Stardust hissed as she stepped up to Cerberus and his flat little rock of a podium. She had half a mind to slap him - the other half wanted to pummel him to death. But she knew how to show restraint. After all, it wouldn't look very good for her to kill another in front of all these fafners - she'd have to do it when there were no witnesses. "I think you should lie down and think about what you're saying. Now I realize that thinking might be a difficult task for you, but do try."

Entei had been wandering around the main square for a few minutes when he found the group gathering around cerberus. He could hear the whispers of the crowd as they all spoke to one another about his message and as Entei got closer his eyes widened in surprise. Was Cerberus really displaying such an open aggresion towards the nobles?! Entei was at first appaled by what Cerberus had done, this is Treason! His Sentinel instincts made him want to hush Cerberus and maybe beat some sense into him. But as he listened Cerberus argument made sense.

Entei knew nothing of the food supplies or the population growth, he was a sentinel, it was not his duty to count the harvest or build houses. He protected his territory with strength and cunning. But if what Cerberus had said about the food supply was true then his people were in danger! Entei made his way to the inner circle, closer to Cerberus and a blue female fafner he had never seen before. It wasnt hard to get to the front, most fafners were intimidated by him, he had been born a soldier and he would live and die a soldier.

"So then is there a definate threat to the fafners of this community?" Enteis rough bark of a voice silenced the whispers around him, but the main chatter continued. Entei stood proudly as he waited for his answer. He was more powerfully built than the average fafner and a few inches taller as well so he was sure that Cerberus had noticed him. This question burned in Enteis mind, he was not a blind soldier, he had given his life for Loki and he would die for Loki. He had never pledged loyalty to a royal family since none resided here and so he felt loyal only to the people. If they were the ones in danger because of the Nobles, well then, the Nobles needed to be put in their place.
