Brett Favre has just been traded to the New York Jets. The Green Bay Packers have not yet stated what they would receive in return.

Wow...finally, an end to this Favre drama.

I personally would have liked to see him either stay retired or return with the Green Bay Packers. Although, he is a pretty good fit with the New York Jets.

Personally, I think this damages his legacy a bit. I always thought of Favre as the "iron man" Green Bay Packer, the face of the historical franchise, and the legendary QB. It will take a while for it to sink in, that Brett Favre is a New York Jet, switching his team, after a 16 season career with the Packers. Even though he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and will probably end his career with the New York Jets, Brett Favre will always be a Packer in my mind.

And Farve DIDN'T wanna go to Tampa?
In a weak conference, he could've seen the playoffs again, and it was possible another deep run.
But with New York, I just can't see nothing better than a 6th seed.
There are just TOO many great teams in the AFC

And could the Packers have done this any smarter?
Think about this,
The pick is a conditional 4th Round Pick
If Farve Plays 50% of the season; 3rd Round.
If Farve Plays 70% and the Jets qualify for the Playoffs; 2nd Round.
If Farve Plays 80% and the Jets make it to the Super Bowl; 1st Round.

Heres the kicker, which makes Green Bay incredibly smart.
If New York trades Farve to Minnesota, The Jets will have to pay the Packers THREE first round picks. THREE

Y'know in that light, only Adrian Peterson and thier entire defensive line to NY would get Farve for the Vikings.

I have hate the Organization fro doing this. Farve is good and all but you should just spit on Chad Pennington. He is a great QB and treating him this way is just dirty. I put this below not giving Kendell a raise. This isn't even remotly cool in my mind. I really dislike how this was handled. Thinking about him starting with the Jets is silly. He can only play for so much longer!

I hope Pennington goes to a good team and win a Super Bowl. Hell I hope he embarrasses us for spiting on him like this.

OMFG; Nah, we would only need half of the line, and Peterson to trade him.

The Jets' best chance to make the playoffs this season is to win the AFC East, and I highly doubt they will, because that will go to the Patriots. There are other AFC teams that could make a run at the two wild card spots, like the competition between the Colts-Jaguars, Steelers-Browns, Chargers-Broncos. The Titans, Bills, Chiefs and Texans could all also make a run.

Favre is a better fit in New York for the Jets. The Bucs already have a Pro-Bowl type QB. Favre will be the lone leader of the Jets, a reliable veteran. He's the clear #1 QB for the Jets. The Jets also have a better receiving core than the Jets. I definitely see the Jets better than last season with Favre and all the other acquisitions, but I don't see them as a playoff team just yet.

Smart of the Packers to put in the Vikings trade restriction. He is a good fit for the Jets, so I doubt they'd trade him anyways. I think that Favre was worth a higher conditional pick, but it was intelligent to also imply the better picks due to Favre's performance.

Pennington was pretty successful in his earlier years with the Jets, where they nearly made a Super Bowl run. Chad Pennington may not be able to throw downfield too far, but he makes good decisions and he knows how to manage the game well. I don't blame the Jets for acquiring a better QB, but Chad could get picked up by a better team, and end up as a solid #2 or even starter. Possible relocations could be for the Bills, Bears, Texans, Chiefs, or 49ers. Pennignton isn't among the better half of QBs currently in the game, but he's at least worth a 7th round draft pick.

Unbelievable, only a few days ago they were saying he was going to take the money.

I'm mad because I wanted him to go to the Vikings or even Tampa-Green Bay knew he would've whooped their butts if he went to the Vikings.

Now THAT makes me laugh out loud. Scaredy cats.

Brett Favre sucks, I am tired of hearing about him, now that he is traded we will have to hear more about him looking different in a new jersey and helmet. He is still going to play the same way he did before and the Jets aren't going to the playoffs, the same way Favre choked in the finals before the bowl.

There's talk of Pennington going to the Dolphins when he's released.

It would have been interesting if Favre went to the Vikings. They would have to play the Packers twice a year, and Minnesota seems like a team that's a solid QB away from making the playoffs.

Anyways, I think the Jets were a bit better fit offensively than the Buccaneers.

I don't think Brett Favre sucks...He's still among the top 10 QBs currently in the league, and he's one of the best to play the position all time. I, too, am sick and tired of all this Favre drama all over the media, and it's finally over. I'm relieved that there's finally a resolution. I think Favre will improve the Jets offense, but I still think they can't quite make the playoffs yet.
