...sunlight. Sunlight shining through his eyelids, warm on his face. Malachi squirmed and blinked sleepily.
What?! He was on his feet a second later. Since when was there light on his face? He'd fall asleep in shadows... oh. The foal cursed to himself. He'd fallen asleep underneath a tree in cool shade, next to Rhinel, but now the sun had moved, the shade had moved, and Rhinel was nowhere to be seen. He sighed to himself, and flopped down again, back in the shade. No sign of his brother, so he might as well stay here. He had no idea how long he'd been asleep, but he also had no inclination to move. Not just yet, anyway.
Malachi sighed contently, head resting on his forelegs, and gazed around for anything or anyone interesting that might give him a reason to get up.

Pamuya stood on the hill near some flowers. She smelled them and they were pretty nice.Pamuya hadn't been out away from her two herd mates in weeks. It was about time she had gotten out.She had started to trot off and noticed a little Aeri laying on the ground. He seemed to have been sleeping. She stood a ways away from the little thing."Hello?"She called out.

Malachi jumped as she spoke. Looking round, he saw the white mare and realised that she must have been the flicker of movement in the corner of his eye. For a moment, he gazed at her suspiciously. She had approached him; it could mean anything. He couldn't trust her, he reminded himself, and so he got to his hooves, keeping his distance. "Hello," he replied warily.
She didn't look dangerous. She looked, well, just friendly and interested. But then again, 'Verity' had seemed perfectly nice as well. With a faint sigh, the colt decided that he would talk to her, see what she wanted, but make sure that he didn't take her at face value. Not again.

Pamuya stoped and watched the kid."I'm sorry if I stardled you. Please forgive me."She smiled some.He seemed to have come across another friendly mare before.Maybe?Pamuya nodded."I'm Pamuya. And who might you be?"Sence he was just a little colt he must have been lost or been left behind.Something rather.

Malachi shook his head, polite instincts taking over. "No, don't worry. I just wasn't expecting anyone to talk to me." He smiled slightly. "My name's Malachi." And there was no harm in telling her that; he'd feel bad lying. Lying was something people like Verity did. Lying was not something he would do. If he wasn't honest with this mare, how could he expect her to be honest with him.
He stood awkwardly for a moment, then realised that, really, he ought to have followed that with a question or something. He should try to be friendly back, even if he wasn't sure about her yet. "Um. Nice to meet you," he said. "Are you new here?"

Pamuya smiled."Ah.Thats good.I didn't want anyone to be mad at me."She giggled lightly. He was so adorable as she would sya.But She didn't want to say that out loud.Pamuya was always telling the truth.Maybe One or two lies. But mostly the truth."Its nice to meet you too.Malachi,Beautiful name."She listened to him."New?I believe so.I've been around for a while.I've just never gotten out."

"Really?" Malachi grinned, wide-eyed. He wasn't sure if he was more surprised that she thought his name was beautiful - no one had ever said that to him before - or that she hadn't explored D'ob. "You've really never been out round here?"
He paused - well, there was no harm in offering to show her around, this land was safe, she might be trespassing a little but that was probably okay - and then he smiled up at her. Not so far up anymore; he was growing quickly these days. "Well," he began, "this is technically my momma's herd's lands, but I guess i can show you around if you want to see the fun places 'round here. And the pretty places, too," he added, aware that mares and fillies liked that sort of thing.

Pamuya nodded at him.She smiled lightly."Yep."She listened a bit more."I've never been out here.I've always been stuck at home."She wondered if she was on someone elses land or something."Oh.I'm sorry I had no clue. But showing me around would be great."She smiled lightly. He was such a nice little guy.

"Alright." Malachi smiled up at her, wondering where would be best to take her... somewhere with other people around, just in case, but not too far into the herd's territory, in case she was some kind of spy... He sighed to himself, hating that he was so suspicious, but knowing that he had to be. It was far, far better to be safe than sorry.
"Okay," he said eventually, "I don't know what kinda places you'd like to see... but I know a place I think you'll like. One of the streams round here has curved so much that it's bent back on itself and it's nearly touching... it's got a pretty beach and it's good for playing. It's this way," he added, gesturing with one wing and then starting to head off in that direction. After a moment he turned, looking over his shoulder to grin at Pamuya. "You know, you really are deprived for not having had the chance to get out. I'd never be able to stay at home all the time..."

Pamyua listened to the little guy."Thank you."She waiting for him to speak as she stood by him."A stream?Oh goodie.Does it have flowers?"She loved flowers. Her favorite thing. She followed after him."Oh?But you should be able to stay home. How about. After we go on our adventure.I take you home?huh? So no one thinks you were in any danger."She smiled sweetly.

"Huh?" Malachi paused, frowning at her. "No, it's not that I can't stay at home, I'd just be bored." ...what else had she said? Oh yes, flowers. What was it with girls and flowers anyway? Most of the time they just mde him sneeze, even if some of them were kinda pretty. "Um, well, I don't know if it has flowers," he added, starting to head off and hoping that she would follow. "But - it does have this water weed stuff at the edge of the river. It's green, and sticky when you throw it at people. I suppose it's kind of like water-flowers."
He grinned back at her with mock innocence. Of course the weed wasn't like flowers - it did smell too, but not in at all the same way. That was for patronising him - he was perfectly capable of finding his own way home. He wondered how long it would take her to catch on once they reached the stream.

"Nice? ...Maybe," he said, but thought no, not when you have to try to get it out of your mane or off your coat before mama sees and knows you've run off to play when you shouldn't be... "And here we are!" he said hurriedly, running the last few steps to the to the bank that led down to the river, and ignoring her question.
The grass sloped gently down and merged into coarse sand at the river's edge. The flow was calm enough here that there were a few green strands of pondweed, but no lilies. Malachi shook his head, looking back up at Pamuya as he picked his way down the bank. "No flowers. sorry. But I still think it's pretty."
Slightly further around the curve, the sandy patch widened into what could just about be called a beach, and there was a small group there. Malachi recognised them and smiled, but didn't go to join them, not yet.

"Yeah! Why not?"She smiled. She walked in a dipped her muzzle into the water takeing a long drink. She didn't notice anyone else near by.Pamu only knew that Malachi was there. She looked up at him and smiled more."Thats okay."Pamu went back to takeing her long drink.
Pamu looked up and then noticed the pack of others. She started to feel weird. She pinned her ears back and started to take steps out.Pamu tried walking backwards up the bank.Only she got half way up and slipped. She landed back into the water.
