now each one has special abilitys but every ninja can have "two" of these 5 chose.
pps:no im sorry but the ninjas don't get to chose from these its all depends on there mother father granfather granmother ect.
now im going to explain the 5 abilitys
fire:the power to make fair attact's, power, and for only the uchiha clan the ability to use chakra in there's eye for genjutsu. rest ability unknow for know (i need to make a little bit more research) (itachi:is a wind and fire)(sasuke: is a fire and
thunder)
wind:you can make wind combined with weapon to make them sharper and the range increase, wind types ninjas specialise in illusions (genjutsu) (shadow clone jutsu for example), also wind can be manipulated to make attacks like the rasengan(naruto:is a wind and thunder)
water: water is also used for illusion but not as quit as munch as wind (wind is like the master of illusions) but water can also be manipulated to make attack like the ice dragon jutsu. water also makes good at chakra intake(for example the guy that fought sasuke on the chunin exam)(haku: is wind and water that's how he can freezes the water into ice)
thunder: the reason why many people don't know about this style is because the show doesn't show that munch info but the manga talks more about it. but one thing that i do know is acorce using electricity and combining it to weapons to increase damage and sharpness(a electricity combined weapon can not be blocked with another weapon because the electricity will cut trough the other weapon)
earth:earth doesn't use that many genjutsu attacks but it uses more mind and stranth.(shikamaru:earth and wind making shadow strangle jutsu)
