Nope. I may sound narrow minded, but too many races will cause problems.

Can I be a hybrid then?
No way. Hybrids = Problems. Problems = Bad. Bad = ...Bad.

Can I have wings?
There will be no wings for any race. Sorry.

Okay I've joined and been accepted! Can I start RPing?
Not until you've posted your bio in your race sticky, otherwise no one will know what you are.

Is the RP only set in New York?
Yes. Lets keep everything close range shall we? If you feel the need to have your character go elsewhere, do not RP it in the guild.

I have an idea for a Guild storyline! Who do I speak to?
There is a thread for storyline ideas here.

I have a problem with another member, who do I talk to about it?
If this problem is in character it depends on race. Talk to your races Elders.

Anywhere you want. provided you're allowed in the thread that is. A good place to start would be The City as that's the most popular thread.

Can I have more than one profile?
No. Absolutely not. Only one character per account. It gets rather confusing otherwise. Want more than one character? Create a mule account. If it's an NPC you often interact with, fine. Not a problem. But if it's a whole different character who requires it's own profile, make a new account.

So.. I'm bored.. How do I quit the guild?
By pressing the 'Quit Guild' button in the top right corner. But please inform us before you do so, it's only fair that you do n.n;

If you can't find it, it's either:
a) been moved to a race subforum
or
b) been recycled
Most likely the latter.

Who are the Vampire Mods?
GaBbYmEnTaL, Blackrogue, Kyrre and Rikku de Lioncourt

Vampire?
Creatures of the night, those who drink blood to survive. Nothing cliché like Dracula though. The vampires in this RP are more or less based on those from The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Here are some of the general attributes of the Vampires.
- Their bodies are dead, no body heat, not heart beat, no need for oxygen. They only need the blood of mortals to survive.
- Their skin is generally quite pale since they have no circulation.
- Are generally quite skinny since they don't need to eat.
- Have a pair of sharp fangs.
- Cannot go out in sunlight.
- Are immortal.
- Age gains strength, the longer you have been a vampire the more powerful you become.
- Posses supernatural strength and speed, their senses are much more alert than those of a mortal.

Where can we roleplay without being attacked?
The Vampire Subforum is a forum specifically for Vampires and cannot under any circumstances be entered by Lycans, Demons or Hunters. This is where the Elders can usually be found.

Can I turn into a bat?
....No..

I saw a film where Vampires went out in the sun, why can't I?
Because the Vampires in this RP cannot go out in sunlight, it's simple.

Can I turn anyone into a Vampire?
Yes you can... If it's a PC then ask them first. Because otherwise it gets very confusing with all the race changes. NPCs are fine, though it would be better just to feed on them.

Can I feed on PCs?
Not without their permission.. It's much better to feed upon NPCs since you can kill them.

Do I have psychic powers?
Only Psychic vampires do. Some of the other types may have a small amount of psychic power, but it wouldn't be enough to do any real damage.

Can I heal myself?
Yes, most Vampires have the ability to heal. If you don't then ask another Vampire.

Can I heal other races?
Nope. Our cell structure is different, we are unable to heal other races.

So.. What about weaknesses?
Sunlight of course. Also a little invention the Lycanthropes came up with called UV bullets, liquid sunlight. Deadly to us Vampires, keep away at all costs. And fire. Fire will destroy us altogether.

Do I have magical powers?
No. You cannot create fireballs or anything like that. Besides, New York is a very busy city, even at night. Don't you think the mortals would notice.

Who are the Lycan Mods?
Kinikki and Soulvar.

Lycanthrope?
The universal terminology for 'Werewolf'.

Where can we (as Lycans) roleplay without being attacked?
The Lycan Subforum is the Lycanthrope only forum, no other race is allowed its necessary. Lycan Elder's {Moderators} can be found in their apartment, if you wish to roleplay with them sometime.

When can I become a werewolf?
Usually transformations occur during the full moon, but some people can transform anytime, and use the full moon period as a 'stronger' period.

Some people have different transformations?
Some people prefer a typical canine transformation {fully wolf like} where as some people go for the 'wolf-man' approach. {The one you see in movies.} it doesn't matter which you go for.

Can I turn someone into a Lycan?
Vampires = No.
Demons = No.
Hunters = Possibly*, depending on if they are mortal.
NPC's = If you wish, but remember. That NPC will become another character you have to control.

*Only if they give their permission, and Rikku gives hers. It gets rather confusing otherwise, with everyone changing races.


What can kill Lycans?
Silver, solid silver bullets will cause something similar to a bullet hole with the flesh burned.
Silver Nitrate bullets will enter the bloodstream, weakening you for a few days.
People usually specify which they use, so don't worry. Nitrate is become more and more popular, however.

Also, please note that Lycans cannot come into contact with anything silver. It burns them. This means things such as jewelry and weapons.

As a Lycan in human form, what powers do I get?
- Faster metabolism - you become thinner faster, if you don't feed.
- If you get cut, the skin heals over in no time. Almost instantly.
- Normal humanistic traits become more refined. Faster, better hearing, better eyesight. You become more alert.
- Manipulating the bodies normal barriers in fights, like becoming double jointed in certain situations.
- Higher pain threshold, Excluding Silver. You can be shot multiple times by normal ammunition, without much damage. Getting shot with a silver bullet is like a mortals reaction to a normal bullet - lots of pain. Silver nitrate makes you hurt an awful lot, and weakens you for a while, too.
- The ability to 'sense' those around you. Other immortals have scents that Lycans can pick up with their refined sense of smell.

Lycans can heal themselves, right?
Yes. Lycans have the ability to heal themselves, as they can speed their metabolism up, making cells grow faster and such. They can heal each other, Lycan to Lycan. Normal Lycans can only heal flesh wounds, however. Healers can heal broken bones, and internal damage.

Lycans cannot heal Vampires, or Demons. For Vampires, they are dead. No new cell growth, unless they drink a mortals blood. A Lycan cannot intervene with the Vampires metabolism. For Demons, they have a different blood structure all together. Lycans can heal mortals.

Is there an official moon cycle in the guild?
No. Simply because if there was, everyone would get bored with waiting. You may make it up yourself, providing it's not a full moon every day. Any problems, discuss it with the mods.

Is there an Alpha Male in the guild?
Yes, Soulvar is our current Alpha Male.

Alpha Male?
Top dog. Lycan Leader. The *only werewolf to have 100% werewolf blood. Making him.. Rather strong. Call it elitest, but it's how it works. (*In existence in the guild. NPC characters inculded. Period.)

100% Blood?
Normal lycans are considered to have 50% lycan blood, elders 85% and the alpha male 100%. The higher the % of your blood the stronger and faster you are, although age is also a part of it. Of two lycan with 50% blood the older will be the stronger. Whether you character was born lycan or turned does not change the blood %.

WHOA, Hold on, where do I get my Code from for the Profiles?
That's simple, Make it yourself! You need it for your username on Weremail and in emergency cases, so make sure you've got something you'll remember easily.

Can I be anything other than a Lycan, like say a werecat?
Sure, but not here. Lycan's are STRICTLY werewolves. Werecats, or leopards, or "I'm a Lycan but I have wings," Do not belong here, mainly because they're not Lycan. If you want to be something else, I suggest try joining the demons. But I'm not promising anything with them either.

Can I have powers, like manipulating metal or throwing fireballs?
No. Just no. Lycan "magic" is limited to healing, and the other ablities layed out already here in the FAQ. Anything you think might be boorderline should be pmed to Myythren or The-Dark-Spy for approval before being used.

Do the hunters have a leader? The last I heard was that they were leaderless...
Absanthe is the current Hunter leader.

So... What race am I then, and what race would be considered my opposite?
You're Human, or an refect of the other races.. Like an outcasted Vampire, or Lycan... No Demon Hunters though please. Hi! And your 'enemy' race would be determined in your character's biography. None of the other races really like Humans that much... Mind you, no race really gets on with any other race, do they?

As a Hunter, can I kill any Lycans, or Vampires, or Tainted, or other hun...
Stop right there. No killing of PC's please. This RP doesn't allow any of the main characters to actually be killed otherwise we'd have nobody left! NPCs however, are fine. Kill as many as you want as long as it's within believable reason of the storyline.

So what the hell is a Hunter supposed to do if I can't kill anyone?!
Incapacitate. Knock out. Render unconscious. Deliver mass ownage.

That sucks!

So tell me. What powers would I get as a hunter?
Well, you're not a 'mythical' race or being, so to speak... Just Human, so unless something's happened like you've been turned by a Vampire, none.

I like to think hunters would have a little more adept skill in using firearms to make up for the fact that they have no serious advantages, like the Vampires being able to turn other people, or the Lycanthropes being werewolfs that could scratch your eyes out with a pounce at 2 miles, and being pretty resistant to anything other than silver nitrate bullets.

That's not too bad... So what weapons am I allowed to use seeing as I have no powers?
Anything you can get your hands on. Just make sure you don't do too much killing in mortal view, there ARE other people living in this city.

What? No. I don't have a rocket propelled grenade. Go away.

Shotguns?!
Yes.

Big shotguns?!
Yes.

Sniper rifles?!
Yes.

Anti-tank rifles?
No.

Why?
Tell me the last time you saw a vampire, or demon, or lycan in a tank.

I'll shoot you if you give me a Devil May Cry reference.

What types of hunter are there?
They are as follows:

Martyrs

Martyrs are the hunters that are willing to do crazy and dumb things to kill off whatever they hunt. Being a Martyr is almost suicide, most don't live long at all. Hunt with whoever is willing to go with them.


Hunters

These hunters aren't always hunters, they have a life outside of killing. They normally just kill for revenge. Hunt with two or three people normally.

Slayers

A Slayers whole life is about killing, they nornally go after vampires but can go after lycans and demons. Hunt in groups of people around two people to fifty.

Casters

Casters are quite and don't normal like talking. They keep to themselves and study magical herbs and spells. They spells are strong but can't do strong damage. (Please no *casts uber horrible powerful spell and blows up New York type of stuff*)

Who are the Tainted mods?

Tainted?
Night walkers that cannot be classified under the definition of werewolf or vampire. Most tainted are completely unique from each other, so the term runs under a broad spectrum.

Where can I roleplay without being attacked?
The Tainted Subforum is an all Tainted forum. It's for Tainted only.

So.. Do I have magical powers?
It depends on what type of Tainted you become, if you are able to become one. Besides, even if you did they will be limited.

Limited?
Tainted are so low in number because they cause problems, because the term is so vague. Therefore, you cannot create an all powerful character who can destroy the city with the click of a finger.

Okay.. So what can I do?
Well look at the description for your Tainted type and stick to it.

But I'm still powerful! Can I cause mass destuction?
Hell no. As stated in the other FAQs, New York is a busy city even at night, we don't want the mortals finding out about us now do we? Keep it within reason and out of mortal view.

The City is a good place to start, thats where most of the roleplay's taking place in the Guild take place.

Can I fight in these places?
All of them, though the hideouts are for that particular race only. Only in certain situations is a Lycan allowed in the Vampire hideout, and vice versa.

The City is a good place for confrontations to take place, as are the other threads such as the Graveyard, Mall, and so on. Just be aware that mortals are around, dint draw too much attention to yourself when fighting.

Can I create a new Thread?
PM your idea to Rikku, if she likes it she'll let you create it.

I want a Club!
Try and make use of another user's Club, before you head off to create your own. Interaction is beneficial, people!

Locations are controlled by the races?
All apart from the City. If your a Tainted and you go into Lycanthrope territory, expect trouble. If your a Lycan in Lycan territory, Hunters/Tainted/Vampires can still enter the area, so be careful none the less.

How do I roleplay?
Guides are avilable for you to browse through right here. Please read them if your uncertain on how to 'roleplay' so to speak, it will help immensely.

..What does _____ mean..?
OOC - Out Of Character. Like ((Hi guys!)) at the end of a post, or a quick explanation of what you mean; ((Something like Selene, from Underword!)). All OOC comments are to be put inside bubbles such as(( )) [[ ]] {{ }} to distinguish them from the rest of your post.
NPC - Non Playable Character, such as a mortal your feeding on. Not another Member of the Guild, Members are know as PC's.
PC's - See above.
God Moding - Having a character who has no weakness, or manipulating a situation to suit your own needs. This also describes someone who never gets hit by a bullet, or never falls weak from something that usually makes his/her race weak.
Storyline - A plot that's made by some of the Guild Members/Mods for Members to participate in.

Ettiquette?
- No killing. Unless its a NPC you have created.
- Detail helps, not just 'I walked into a bar and sat down.' unless the person you are roleplaying with knows what the bar looks like, and so on. Description is your friend.
- No autohits, unless its a Pre Organised setup. Some Members negotiate on MSN/AIM what they want each other to do if they need it done, so dont accuse everyone of Autohitting.
- Dont get hit by everything, but dont get hit by nothing, either.
- If you want to know more about someone your roleplaying with, go look up their profiles. Its rude to say 'But how old are you?' when some people have spent a good while on their profile, you may as well go put some effort into reading it.
- No Chatspeak. Use proper English, please. We'll forgive you for spelling mistakes/grammatical mistakes, but we wont for 'I woz shootin @ u!'.

Hell no. Subforums are for the race mentioned only. A safe haven for those who don't want to encounter other races just yet.

The main forum is Manhattan island. And from now on, every thread in the main forum will be accessable by every race.

Wait one minute. We already have hideout threads. Though, I'm allowing you to use different threads to expand your race's hideout if you so wish.

I am going to become a hunter and I was wondering, if a silver nitrate bullet can kill a lycan, what about a silver nitrate throwing knife?

Silver nitrate can kill minion lycans fairly quickly. Elders/The Alpha male ((The-dark-spy and Myythren)) will need a lot more thrown at them to kill them. All Lycanthropes are weak against silver, but the more powerful ones are more resiliant if you get me. Annd I doubt Silver nitrate throwing knives exist =| And remember no killing PCs.

I would like to join DNY but i have a few questions to ask first. In the pst i have rped as a group kind of, not just one particular person. Myself and a few others have Rped together, a few people per person as a huter group, freelance. So first of all, i was wondering if you have a one character per user policy, and then i was wondering if you would mind us not really joining the hunters, but possibly make a smaller Hunter Faction or something? Just a question...

Aiie, a tough one.. I'm in no way against you having a few NPCs who appear sometimes.. But I'd prefer if you had one central character to save confusion. 3 or 4 consistant characters.. Is a bit much..

If i'm a genetically modified human, and i'm altered to look like a vampire and have the same strengths, can i still be immune to sunlight and silver?

...No o_o; You wanna' be made like a vampire, you have their weaknesses too. Silver is a Lycan's weakness, though.

Also, I'd like to ask if I could have my character find himself a nice little mansion. I'd like to make a thread for this and then have the character himself plan an immortal party. Like a get together for all immortals. Yes I know some fights may occur, but getting everyone piled into a room together would do wonders for the RP don't you think?

You aren't the only one who's asked for their own thread. So my answer is no. Sorry. But if you get one, everyone will want one. And I don't want to be flooded with 300 mansions/houses/flats in thread form. The apartments thread is there for people who wish to live in an apartment block. There's a residential area, and some people live in the hideouts.

So Lycan Hunter's can't enter Club FM? Meh, okay.

Seems there's been a lot of confusion lately as to where people are permitted. So I'll clear it up.

When you register on a sticky, you're letting your race/group know that you're in New York, therefore are allowed to enter the hideouts.Therefore, if you are a Hunter whose race is Lycan, you cannot enter Club FM. You're not on the database. Same applies to hunters which are Vampires.

1. Do they have reflections or not? Some vamp lore has them reflecting, most others don't.

2. Do crosses harm them? I'm assuming if holy water bullets do, then crosses do too, but I'm asking you to be sure so I won't make a biff. :p

3. What about running water or water in general? Some vamp lore it acts like acid, others, it's fine.

4. Are they vulnerable to being staked or beheaded?

That's all I can think of to ask that I don't believe was covered in the species/race FAQ, so... I'd appreciate any light you can shed on it. smile

3. It doesn't act as an acid as such, but they don't require it.

4. Vampires are weak to fire and sunlight.. If you beheaded a vampire, yes the'll die. But staked... It depends, really.

I would like to be a part of your Undeworld-style RP, and you said (basically) there were some varient races that could be covered by 'Tainted'. Does something like a were-panther, opperating basically as a were-wolf, with a different vulnerablility (gold) count as a Lycan or a Tainted? That was all, really...

Before I post my profile into one of the catagories, is it ok if I begin my character as a neutral that knows nothing of the city's secret life, and then is introduced to it somehow. My character's future will be hunter since there's no real 'neutral' catagory. But I was wondering if they have to she has to be a hunter right when I begin the roleplay, or if I can have her slowly learn of the secrets of NY's nights.

Are you planning to be Vamp or Lyc? If so, post a profile in the respective sticky and put in bold text at the bottom 'Human for now, looking to be bitten/turned'
