Hey guys I was wondering what your opinions are on the SLS loot system. (http://www.wowwiki.com/SLS) My guild recently switched over to it to try to get more members online for raids.

The goal is good, giving the people who take the time to wipe a lot and learn the encounters with the guild more loot, but I dislike the bidding system.

Sounds far too confusing, use loot council.

We were using loot council, but then the guild master decided that since no one was showing up we had to change.

Yah, loot council FTW. I've never heard of SLS before though.

loot council is where officers debate on who deserves to receive a piece of loot, based on various factos; participation, gear, and who would benefit the guild as a whole with the piece of loot

My current guild uses this system and so far it's pretty good. The loot system I was familiar with before I joined this guild was SK and I can honestly say SLS far better than that.

Officers contribute more, they get loot first. Geared tanks is a good way to make content easier. Lets gear up all the tanks. And officers are deciding so its best they benefit themselves! Two guilds who used loot council and both systems being corrupted... Refuse to go near loot council ever again /twitch

meh. my guild uses loot council, and it isnt bad at all. we have several rules set up, and we also put into consideration the amount of loot a person is receiving, to keep from people being loot monkeys.
if tier pieces drop however, it is often tanks and healers first, then DPS, then offspeccs. our guild leader is also a women :O
...which somehow makes it so much more fair.

Our system is the best IMO
We have 0 sum DKP (kind of)
We raid with an psuedo-player getting and equal amount of DKP as other players. All DKP penalties also go into this players pool.
All of the bonus DKP we get for wipes come from this players DKP pool.
So we still get DKP on wipe nights as well as on loot nights.
Unwanted loot goes for "off spec" at 0 dkp cost so hardly anything gets sharded.
If an item goes to offspec and a player had purchased a lesser quality item of the same item slot then they generally can take the upgrade for free.
But all items are a set DKP value, no bidding, no one getting loot priority on items at some random raid officers discretion. WIN system.
