Will snorted impatiently, his mustache blowing slightly in the wind. He was at the beach, watching his granddaughter, Rosalind, play in the reefs with the tiny little neon-colored fish. She laughed without a care in the world, letting her long, curly mane whip in the wind as she raced after a school of fish.
"Hurry it up!" he called to her, his voice stern but kind. After all, she was the only granddaughter he had that actually played with him. He was not old by any means, but looking at Rosalind's youthful games, he longed to run with her.
Sighing, he looked to the horizon; not the one over the sea, but the other direction.
"Your dad's here!" he called, smiling. Oh, Oliver.
Oliver barely made it over the top of the hill. It was pretty steep, and having woken up late for their little family gathering, he raced the entire way there... on an empty stomach.
Panting, Oliver crested the top to be nearly tackled by his youngest daughter, Rosalind. She was soaked in salt water and smelled faintly of fish.
"Hey, Rosie!" he said to her, in between huge gulps of air. He saw his father in the distance, standing proud and inclining his head slightly in a greeting. Oliver did the same as Rosalind jumped around him excitedly.
"Daddaddad!" Rosalind cried, the earrings in her ears jingling as she jumped. "I get to meet Grandma today!"
She had been waiting for this day for, what seemed like, an eternity. Her father had told her that Grandma Waneta looked just like he did, but she wasn't going to believe anything he said until she saw her herself. Besides, Waneta was probably going to be prettier.
"You're late, let's goooo," she whined, nudging her father with her shoulder before trotting down the hill, a bounce in her step.

"I know! And then I was like 'If you think just because I'm a girl I can't outdo you, you've got another thing coming buster'." -Fathom was prattling, not an uncommon thing really. The boisterous female was so full of life and attitude and spunk that she often found it hard to be quiet when she had to be standing so still. So today as mother grazed and awaited Will's return, Fathom proceeded to talk her ear off, assaulting the grass beneath her hooves.-
"And so we each grabbed onto a branch and we started pulling and pulling, and I swear it felt like the stupid thing was never going to break, but of course it did finally. I don't know what hurt him more the fact that I beat him or when I gave him a nice ol' smack on the backside with that branch!" -Fathom laughed as she went on, she wouldn't dare tell her father, adore him as she may, the stories of her escapades, but Waneta was another story. Waneta had never been as much of a worrier as one would expect from a mother, and in fact she now seemed more amused then concerned at the act that might have drudged up a whole line of trouble. But what can you say, like mother, like daughter.--Waneta grazed simply, tugging at bits of grass that she chewed more to pass the time then out of hunger. Will had said something about a surprise today, and she somehow doubted it was the unexpected and loud visit of her only daughter.
Bobbed tail flicking lightly back and forth, she listened to Fathom with a mild smile upon her muzzle. Boys always did think that way didn't they? Unfortunately for them they didn't really realize the powder keg that her daughter was thanks to a life with all brothers and a mother and father who were a bit unconventional to say the least.
Pausing a moment in her nibbling she offered a mild snippit of advice, though she was quite certain it wouldn't matter when the time came.- "Just don't let it get you too down if one day you are bested dear. Everyone has good days and bad."
-Glancing back down at the grass, she hesitated, instead finally turning her eyes to the horizon. Where was Will, and where was that surprise?-

Will smiled warmly as he rounded the bend at the bottom of the hill, seeing his only daughter and mate in the distance. He was not too far off to see that Fathom was yakking her mother's ears off, and could hear Waneta's soothing voice advising her.
When they were close enough, Will allowed his smile to turn into a full-on grin, his head held high and his tail blowing gracefully in the breeze.
"Waneta!" he called. "Fathom!"
Oliver frowned, only to himself. Rosalind was bouncing way too much to make him want to speak with her, warn her about his sister, so he refrained. Not that his sister was a horrible little creature, oh no. He just thought it'd be best if Rosalind had been prepared in advance.
He appeared behind his father as Will greeted his family, looking less proud but just as excited. He had positioned his body in such a way that Rosalind was hidden behind him, though he was sure that his mother and sister had heard her giggle in anticipation.
"Hey Mom, Fathom." He moved out of the way just as Rosalind stepped delicately forward, her eyes wide with excitement. "This is my daughter, Rosalind."
Rosalind's brain was on overload. Finally seeing Grandpa Will with Grandma Waneta. She had an aunt, Auntie Fathom. And, of course, Oliver was just as awkward as usual. Today was going to be the best day ever.
"Nice to finally meet you!" she cried, trotting past her father and grandfather and making her way over to Waneta. "You do kind of look like Dad..."

Oddball Murphy's ears flicked. He remembered something about some family gathering. What was it again? Something about Oliver? Shaking his head, the male's nose lowered back to the grasses as he munched, the ocean spray washing against his coat. It had been quite some time when he had last seen his family. But then again he never really was one to stay put. He was always wandering, running off into adventures. His family wasn't so bad, but for some reason he always felt out of the loop. Like his calling belonged to sea.
Raising his head, he took in a deep breath, his nostrils flaring a little. Once again his mind wandered over to the "gathering." Alright so what was going on, what did he forget? God, he had the mind of a foal sometimes....
FOAL! Oliver's kid! Crap! He was sure that his brother was going to kill him now. With a slight huff, the male took off at a sprint across the sands, his hooves pumping hard, shirt rippling against the winds as he ran. It took him a while, but he finally caught the scents of his family. Soon enough they came into view. Everyone was there, except him as usual. Slowing down, he took his time to trot over, to take a breather and to better prepare himself. What was he supposed to say? How was he supposed to react?
Ugh. Murphy never did like these things. He was never good at them. Now, give him a damsel in distress and an evil pirate, then you've got yourself a sailor! But family? He wasn't even sure anymore....

((*copied from PM since I see Dark is playing too! heart * Yay :3
I'm SO sorry about the delay dear. crying I became part of a megaplot thingy at the very beginning of August and well.. About the second week in the person running it killed off my character without even giving me the chance to rp it out. sad So it REALLY upset me and knocked me out of the mood to rp anything at all for the longest time..
I'm feeling a little better, a little less anti rp so I tagged our rp and hopefully should be able to keep up with it properly now.))
-Waneta shifted in her stance as the scent and sight of her mate finally came into view, her excitement silent but very obvious. It was amazing how easily Will could make even the most boring of days and tasks exciting, and Waneta was thankful that she'd been so lucky despite their whirlwind romance. But then again, it probably wouldn't have been a romance at all had she not seen that spark of life and fire in him all those months ago.
Surveying both Oliver, who she hadn't seen in a little while, and the new little stranger, she gave a pleasant welcoming nicker, stepping forward to break the gap between them. She'd be informed awhile back of her 'grandmother-hood', what an awful and old word!, but this was the first of the little ones she'd seen, and she laughed softly, teasing the little one mildly.- "Handsome as your grandfather is, I should hope a little bit of me showed up in the boys."
-She admired the young one for a long moment, thinking back to the days in which her own brood had been so young, and wondered mildly if she were quite as much a hassle. That thought brought a secret smile to the mare, for of course trouble makers deserved trouble making foals.
Eyes lifting to notice her final son's appearance, a simple smile welcomed him, before her attention turned once again to Rosalind.- "So you get to meet alot of your family today then? How exciting."
-Oh THIS was rich! She'd heard vaguely of Oliver's 'adventures' off handly before, but it hadn't seemed that exciting of news. Not until she saw one of the little spawn, and of course the horridly timid and uncomfortable look on her brother's face. Fathom reguarded the child with minor notice, but to the father a silent look of feigned surprise and most uninnocent look screamed "Oh so we've been knocking up the town, eh?" across the distance. And she waited with an amused smile to see if he'd squirm under the 'attack'. As IF she were innocent or something herself. But she atleast had been lucky.
Eyes turning back to her father, she trotted on up to him, rubbing her cheek against his neck in an affectionate greeting, before her attention turned to her other brother. She preferred the company of her father the most, but she somehow doubted she'd get his attention with the little girl running around trying to charm his pants off. So maybe Murphy was the better choice? Her voice raised cheerfully in greeting.- "Hey."
