In one of my fanfictions, the main character's spiritual/demonic powers are directly linked to her emotions. If her emotions get out of control, so do her powers, which could mean the destruction of a large chunk of the world, if not the whole thing. So, part of her training is to learn how to control her emotions so that this doesn't happen. That's where I run into the problem. If you were Genkai trying to train this teenage girl how to control her emotions, how would you go about it? I've already got one exercise in mind--where they tell the main character things they know will upset her and she attempts to keep under control. But the story is very long and this is a big part of it, so I don't want to keep describing the same sessions over and over. So, if you had to help someone control her emotions, what kind of training would you use?

Perhaps have Genkai do meditation exercises with her? That seems like a fairly basic way to keep oneself under control. Besides that (because that would get old quickly, too), I'd think maybe some kind of exercises or trials designed to help her understand what her emotions are. A lot of times, actually controlling an emotional response is next to impossible if you don't understand where it's coming from or what all the complexities are. Taking her into her memories, perhaps, so she can analyze them with Genkai's help?
That's all the suggestions I have off the top of my head, but I'll see if I can come up with more. ^^

That sounds like it will work, yeah. The idea of going back and trying to analyze her memories is genius! Thanks so much!
