As i'm sure you all know, marching band is probably one of the toughest physical activities in any school. (Golf team? Screw you!) Like any physical activity, it can get pretty dangerous. So I ask you this...
What's the worst injury you've gotten from marching band?
Did you trip over someone, drop your instrument or flag or maybe your mouthpiece flew off when you snapped your horn down?
Whatever the case, tell us!

I'd have to say my worst accident was during my freshman band camp 2 years ago I had to crab diagonally backwards like 20 yards. I couldn't see that one of the trumpet players was lost and so I ran into him. We both fell (I on top of him) and my bass drum somehow unhooked off my rack and fell onto my face. Luckily is was only bass 1.
Another 'injury' I guess you could say came from this year's band camp. The padding on the old drum racks was terrible and did nothing to ease the pain on my shoulders. So for the 1st 3 days of band camp is was like someone was constantly pushing down on my shoulders and back. On the 4th day of camp we finally got new rack which were amazingly better but now the base part sat too low on my stomach and dug into my thighs. By the end of camp I had bruises on my shoulders, shoulder blades, hips, upper and inner thighs and a huge one on my forearm from having to help bass 2 carry her drum. What a rough week! sweatdrop

Last year there was a certain count in the second movement where I was suppose to switch from backward to foward march in a follow the leader and I marched next to my section leader. She saw that I was angling wrong and told me to fix it or else I'd fall, and me, being the passive person I am sometimes, didn't bother to listen and continued doing it the way I was used to. Stupidly enough, on the next run thru, I ended up tripping over myself and falling... hard. I had to roll out of the way so I wouldn't get run over and the trombone section behind me were laughing at me as they continued to march. -_-' Let's just say, I learned to never doubt my section leader ever again...
