i love jacob, and i always have. ( please leave you picket signs at the entrance to the thread, and don't beat me with them.) but Bella discovering jacob's love for renesmee was hilarious. i may have just been on edge after all the stupid pregnancy angst. but every time bella or jacob said something, i laughed harder.
Discuss: opinions on imprinting how i have to give away my 'gravity moves' tshirt now that everyone knows what it means.

I looove the idea of imprinting. Even though I don't like to forced into things, I do love the idea of someone being "the one" for you. And imprinting appeals to that.
But I did not like Jacob imprinting on Nessie. Why? Because I don't like when things have to fit perfectly like a puzzle. I'd probably like Nessie if she had some kind of personality. Sure the kid matures quickly, but did she ever develop a personality? None that I could see. I will retreat to the haven of fanfiction for now until the encyclopedia clears things up for me.

I was trying to explain imprinting to my nontwilight family and I found that I couldn't.. I mean, if you imprint on a child, it isn't exactly love, or else that might be *****. [Regardless of whether they age or not] Until they grow up. So is it like, deep caring? Or what?

[Regardless of whether they age or not] Until they grow up. So is it like, deep caring? Or what? It is love. Love doesn't equate to sex at all. There are different kinds of love. Like how you love your friends differently than you love your family. To me, the love Jacob feels for Nessie is ... dang, this is hard to explain in words.I guess the easiest way to put it is true love. Like a soul mate.

I agree with you totally. Actually to me it's disturbing. x'D As I said in another thread: If you change their diapers you don't do them. While I liked imprinting because of the whole soul mates/muirn beatha dan type of idea, I was upset it was too easy and Jacob didn't fight to break the rules of imprinting or something. I mean, I think he could've if he wanted to. I agree love doesn't equate to sex, but the kind of love that is implied to occur at one point or another in Jacob's and Nessie's life? I think it indicates that kind of attraction.
Oh yeah, and Nessie was def. absent. They fought for her and yet I didn't really feel like she was there. I couldn't connect to her and I found her cute at first and then kinda annoying later. x'D Like...stop grabbing people's cheeks and freaking speak, god damn it.

I think it's disgusting. I mean for all we know It could've ended up being THEIR child, if Edward was out of the picture.
I shouldn't freak, because there's a possibility that he only thinks of her as a big brother, or a father. But I have to say that would be wishful thinking.
I am going to treat it as if it was the best possible solution to all of Jacob's heartbreak. Till that other semivampire boy showed up of course.
.. Poor Jacob has his love life all messed up.

If Edward wasn't there, it'd be no Nessie.
Think of it this way, there are people out there that grow up together. Sometimes they're a little years apart, saying an 8 year old boy and a 3 yr old girl. You knew them when they were young and watched them grow up, but when they hit a certain age, you don't view them as the little girl they used to be, they become something new.
I honestly love the relationships the wolves have with Claire and Nessie. I don't see it as disgusting or anything. They're protectors, they're shoulder's to cry on. They are always going to be there, and they're probably the only ones that won't ever picture them as sex objects.
It's only ***** when one of the person involved isn't an adult, and the other is. Edit: In a sexual relationship.
End of story.
Edit: *****: The act or fantasy on the part of an adult of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children.

Werewolf Garnet It's only ***** when one of the person involved isn't an adult, and the other is.
End of story. But... With that statement you are saying that Jacob and Quil's relationships are *****. A good argument is put in void when the speaker contridicts themselves.
Because I know of a person who has a much better analysis than I, I'll just give a link to why imprinting isn't all that great and why I believe it's disgusting. It's the 7th post

LOVE IS NOT SEX! LOVE IS NOT SEX! LOVE IS NOT SEX!
sheesh.
Imprinting is NOT about mating. it's about soul mates. your other half. It's not giving a damn about yourself, it's all about the other person.
Jacob doesn't want to jump into bed with her. he just wants her to be happy. Making her happy is his life now, and when she is older and relizes her love for him he will be there.
get your minds out of the gutter, this story is all about love not smutt.

Because I know of a person who has a much better analysis than I, I'll just give a link to why imprinting isn't all that great and why I believe it's disgusting. It's the 7th post No, I'm not. Mostly because they don't have a relationship. At least not romantically. I mean, the whole thing about Bella and Edward is that they basically were "attracted" to each other in one way or another. (She was intrigued about him, and he wanted to eat her)
Also, the age difference between Edward and Bella is way more apart than Nessie and Jacob, or even Quil & Claire. Right now they're big brothers to the girls, not waiting for them to grow up. Lust just isn't a part of their lives at the moment, but I don't think they feel like they're lacking.
Just think about it, if Jacob and Nessie were having a relationship right now, do you honestly think Edward wouldn't do anything?
*****: The act or fantasy on the part of an adult of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children.
Edward even told us that Jacob never even thought about sex with Nessie, even when they were informed that she'd grow into a full adult in 7 years.
Everyone has a choice, Nessie doesn't have to be with Jacob, but if I were around someone that made me feel like I was the best girl out there; (oh wait, I do) I'd probably want to be with them.
And lust is not love. Love does not mean sex.
I love my mom, but I don't want to have sex with her.
I love my dad, but the same thing applies.
I love my brothers, no sexual tendencies there....
I love lots of people, and don't ever intend to have sex with them.

Also, I read the forum. And while I agreed with a few, I still don't think that imprinting is dirty. I just don't, because I never once read anything about how the boys were thinking dirty little thoughts about the girls. And everyone has a choice, no one is going to make them do anything.
Imprinting is not dirty; No, I don't think Twilight is very sexist, Yes, Edward was an abusive boyfriend that tried to control Bella and succeeded. (It happens) And yes, Esme was just a filler character that would probably have been better off without.

I love lots of people, and don't ever intend to have sex with them. Sweetie, I'm not Bella and Edward and I know that lust does not equal love. :/
The age difference between Edward and Bella is the largest compared to the others when you base it on how long they have lived. They're vampire bodies, on the other hand, are seventeen and eighteen. Physically speaking, their relationship is not ***** and I wasn't talking about them anyways.
And if you want to factor in the age, then Nessie and Jacob's relationship will defintely be ***** since Nessie's body will be full grown at age seven.
But imprinting is for mating. To pass on the gene and if we agree on the fact that the girl who was imprinted on won't say no to being involved with the imprinter, they are going to have sex because that's how reproduction occurs. Eventually, they are going to be sexually active with their "big bro". All that time, the imprinter could child groom the girl.
Psychology also plays a part in this. The girls will have grown up with Quil and Jacob around them constantly and will become a great part of their life. They will have gained a large amount of control on the girls since kids are impressionable and still learning. If they grow up learning that Uncle Jake and Quil will marry them one day, that's gonna stick and it's gonna stick good in their head. Growing up with that will eliminate any thoughts about choosing a lover. They have their Uncle Jake and Quil. They'll grow up listening and hanging onto their every word, so unlike a normal child they'll have a prepackaged lover that has been waiting for them since they were in diapers. The guys might not be thinking "dirty" thoughts about toddler Claire and Nessie, but they're probably anticipating and daydreaming about their older selves.
I don't know much about Quil's relationship, but Jacob's already gave Nessie the Quilete equivilant of a promise ring. Not a toy or a book, a promise ring equivilant. That shows that he's already planning about the future and what he's going to do.

im·print·ing [im prínting] n early social attachment: a form of rapid learning very early in an animal's social development that results in strong behavioral patterns of attraction to members of its own species, especially parents. Imprinting was first described by Konrad Lorenz in 1937 when he trained young ducks and geese to follow him and regard him as their mother.

Please don't call me sweetie again. I refrained from insulting you, I only ask that you do the same.
and like an engagement ring or a promise ring, it can be taken off at any moment. he wants to be in her life, wow, what a shocker. he loves her and cares about her. she still has a choice. when she grows up, she could realize that she doesn't want to be with jacob at all.
