"As a person who grew up around the stuff, not smoking it myself mind you but having many family and friends that do so, I do not see the point of keeping it illegal other than the government not being able to make any money off of it. Ya see the plant itself, unlike tobacco, is very easy to grow and take care of. Now some may call it a drug, yet for somthing to truly be a drug it has to go through a chemical process. Weed is an herb, and is grown the way it is. Now some forms of weed are really extreme and have been subjected to chemical processes. But your adverage weed smoker does not smoke these do to the high price demands.

Further more alot of people smoke weed to relax, not to get high. As strange and farfetch'd as this may sound, it's true. Others who smoke to get high are better off than people who drink just to get drunk for many reasons. Weed mellows you out and does not effect your brain so much as alchohol does. Another reason is that people have never O.D. on weed. Yeah people who smoke insane amounts will get sick, but this happens when you do anything. Last it's not as destructive as booze, and actually isn't as bad on your body than energy drinks are.

I also think it will help with the crime rate in America than hurt. When booze was illegal, crime was at an all time high. By legalizing it you would cut alot of drug dealers off from their best selling drug. Though weed is not as expensive, it does sell the most because it does not kill the consumer. If people can get it legally they would not turn to drug dealers.
